"Good one, Bro Bei! So cool!"
Hong Haier and NeZha were both unafraid of anything. When they saw Chen Xiaobei slap the director, they both clapped in glee.
Also unperturbed by what had just happened, Song Qincheng's lit up and she smiled.
"My dear husband, that was really impressive!"
Since being around Chen Xiaobei, she had seen thousands of people besiege a city, killing vampires within seconds, and the Tri-City Martial Art Competition.
In comparison to those, the scene before her was paltry-she was not, even in the slightest bit, intimidated.
"I will not allow anyone to talk about you like that because I know that you are a pure and innocent girl!" Chen Xiaobei said affectionately.
Song Qincheng was deeply touched. So, she tiptoed and whispered into Chen Xiaobei's ear, "I don't want to be a little girl, I want to be your little woman!"
"Ah…"
Chen Xiaobei's could feel a tingle in his ears. He just wanted to do her right here.
Having caught his breath, Shi Haoxiang wasted no time letting out a loud howl, "Urgh… Help! Help me… murder…"
And as one would expect, a crowd quickly gathered around them.
A few bodyguards clad in black stood by Shi Haoxiang, behind them were the actors and actresses of the musical. They must have had been on a break since everyone was idling before this and they had come over without a moment's delay to take stock of the situation.
"What happened?" Just then, a distinctive voice which startled the crowd came from behind.
It belonged to woman in her fifties. While she was plain-faced, she exuded an aura of excellence and her gaze conveyed wisdom.
She was a woman who had no need for an introduction - with just an utterance, she was able to terrify all those present一 she was Zhang Wen!
As she stood before them, everyone around her, even the CEO of the film base, Li Haopeng was overshadowed.
"Director Zhang, CEO Li! You came in the nick of time!" Shi Haoxiang wailed, "Song Qincheng brought a wild man here to beat me up…look at my face…Not only am I bleeding, I've even lost some teeth…"
When he said that, every single person in the room fixed their eyes on Chen Xiaobei.
"Who the hell is that asshole? Is he deranged? He dared to hit Boss Shi!"
"Yeah, I know right! Not only is Boss Shi the big boss of the entertainment industry, the people behind him are even more powerful! This guy is dead!"
"Song Qincheng is also in deep shit! Hitting Boss Shi is like suicide!!"
The onlookers whispered amongst themselves and looked at Chen Xiaobei with contempt and ridicule.
"I think that there might be a misunderstanding here!" Li Haopeng said in an attempt to smooth things over.
"Misunderstanding? My teeth are missing, how could this be just a misunderstanding? Just look at this slap marks! Would you like to get a fingerprint?" Shi Haoxiang shouted, clearly enraged.
Li Haopeng was too startled to respond.
While he was acquainted with Chen Xiaobei, there was no evidence for him to build on. Hence, it rendered him powerless.
Zhang Wen, on the other hand, glanced at Chen Xiaobei and the boys, and asked, "CEO Li, are they the ones you wanted to introduce me to?"
"Yes…" Li Haopeng nodded, looking rather distressed. "Song Qincheng is the boss of Qincheng Entertainment Agency. She wanted to recommend these two young men to you."
Shi Haoxiang broke in before Zhang Wen could continue, "CEO Li! Don't blame me for not giving you face! Everyone in this circle knows that Director Zhang will not allow imperfections in her production! How dare you bring this piece of work to Director Zhang? Do you take her for a fool?"
"I… I didn't know that this would happen…" Li Haopeng frowned.
He was only a mediator and had no malicious intent. However, Shi Haoxiang had managed to make him the villain.
Li Haopeng felt gravely wronged but he could not seem to find the words to explain himself.
He felt a little resentful towards Chen Xiaobei. This would not have happened if Chen Xiaobei had not laid hands on Shi Haoxiang.
"Alright. I've seen them and I don't want them," Zhang Wen said icily, not wanting to waste another minute on Chen Xiaobei and his group.
Li Haopeng was speechless.
Shi Haoxiang smirked and thought to himself. "I will destroy your future! Just you wait, I will cause you so much pain! Hehe! That is what happens when you mess with me!"
Seeing this unfold before her, Song Qincheng could not compose herself and implored, "Director Zhang, things are not what they seem. Please give me a chance to explain!"
"There's no need to explain." Zhang Wen looked Chen Xiaobei square in the eyes and asked, "Were you the one who hit him?"
"Yes, I am." Chen Xiaobei nodded, though he showed no hint of remorse.
Even if this did not work out for them, there are always other production companies. The Chen Xiaobei today would not beg for opportunities!
Zhang Wen's chilly gaze seemed to warm a little. "Very good. I like people who own up to their actions. However, beating people is wrong and so, I will not change my mind!"
"Director Zhang… I beg you…" Song Qincheng would not give up.
Chen Xiaobei, not wanting to see her get bullied like that, tugged at her small hand.
"It's alright, Qincheng. C'mon, let's go."
Suddenly, NeZha leapt and stuck his tongue out boldly at Zhang Wen.
"Yes, let's go! We don't have to beg her!"
Hong Haier followed suit. He pursed his lips and said coolly, "Yeah, she doesn't want us but who said that we would have had willingly followed her? She's unreasonable and self-righteous! Who does she think she it?"
At this remark, those around them felt uneasy.
"Are these two insane? Do they know they are talking to?"
"Surely they have no idea who Director Zhang is! Or they wouldn't dare, even if they had ten guts combined into one, to speak to her like that!"
"Sigh… These two are ruined. Director Zhang and Boss Shi have the power to destroy them in this industry!"
"That's for sure! Just look at how dark Director Zhang's face has turned. The whole entertainment industry would tremble if one incurs her wrath!"
They were all bewildered by what the boys had said and done.
Li Haopeng, who had been the middleman, could feel a trickle of cold sweat run down his back. This is it. He was a dead man. When Zhang Wen was offended, no one in the entertainment industry would dare to talk to them anymore.
On the other hand, Shi Haoxiang was adding fuel to the flames. "How absurd! These two idiots have the audacity to talk to Director Zhang like that! They must be obliterated!"
"Shut up!" Zhang Wen ordered.
Immediately, Shi Haoxiang shut his mouth.
"Why do you say that I am being unreasonable and self-righteous?" Zhang Wen looked at the two teenagers, both about fourteen or fifteen, and said humorlessly, "If you can give me a reasonable explanation, I will apologize to you! If not, you will not be able to enter the entertainment industry!"
"Xiaobei…" Song Qincheng panicked. From what she's seeing, NeZha and Hong Haier were just acting out on their anger irrationally, what logical reason could they possibly have?
If they could not explain, then they would be banned from entering the entertainment industry for the rest of their life.
Chen Xiaobei was, as usual, strangely calm and might even be quite eager as he replied, "Don't worry. They are not stupid! Let's see what these two have up their sleeves."
