Chapter 6 - Visiting

Fearing that her insistence might come off as condescending, An Qian didn't try to push the check onto Gu Ning again.

However, Gu Ning had saved her life, she wouldn't feel at ease until she paid off at least some of her debt.

Therefore, after putting away the check, An Qian pulled out a business card and handed it to Gu Ning. "Since you don't want the check, then let's become friends. This is my name card. If you need anything, come find me. As long as it's in my scope, I'll help you to the best of my abilities."

Compared to money, Gu Ning felt that human sentiment was much heavier. She did not turn down An Qian.

She wasn't looking for friendship but she knew that if she declined again it would come off as her looking down on the doctor.

Moreover, she needed friends at the moment. She needed connections. Gu Ning at the moment wasn't formidable herself but she greatly valued those with power.

But even if she had the connections, she would never force the other person to do something that they didn't want or couldn't afford to do. When making requests and exchanges, she always considered the person's wishes and abilities.

"Then I'll kindly accept." Gu Ning received the card in a straightforward manner.

Seeing Gu Ning accept, An Qian put on a friendly smile and extended her hand. "Hello, my name is An Qian."

Gu Ning also adorned a friendly smile as she grasped the woman's hand, "Hello, I'm Gu Ning."

And thus the friendship was officially established.

"Then I'll be leaving first. My mother must be looking for me, and I don't want her to worry. Don't tell her about what happened here, I don't want to get into trouble." Without waiting for An Qian's response, Gu Ning turned around and ran off.

"Ah…" An Qian wanted to ask Gu Ning for a method to contact her but the girl was already running away.

Gu Ning moved too quickly, by the time that An Qian reached the stairway, not even her hair could be seen.

She wanted to go downstairs but thought better of it after remembering Yang Hao.

Gu Ning had only left for a few minutes when three men arrived on the rooftop. The one leading was a 50-year-old man in a white coat followed by two young male doctors of about 30.

"Qianqian, you're alright!" The older man ran to An Qian.

"I'm okay, dad." An Qian spoke.

"It's good that you're okay." Seeing his daughter, the man finally relaxed.

However, when he swept his gaze across the roof, other than An Qian and the tied up Yang Hao, he couldn't see anyone else. "What about the girl who saved you?"

"Ah! She left already. She said her mother would get worried if she didn't see her, also that we shouldn't tell that she helped me. She didn't want to get into trouble." An Qian relayed Gu Ning's words to her worried father.

"Did you repay her?" An Qian's father asked.

"I tried to give her a 500,000 check but she declined, so I offered her my card. I told her that we could be friends and that she could look for me if she needed help, so she accepted." An Qian told her father.

Hearing this, the An father was surprised. He was already grateful towards An Qian but his impression of her improved even more with this.

Obviously, if Gu Ning had accepted the reward, they wouldn't have any malice towards her. The fact that she had saved An Qian's life was irrefutable.

They were truly grateful. Even if the other party had asked for one of two million, they still wouldn't have declined. (158,310 USD or 316,620 USD)

When Gu Man returned back to the ward and was unable to find Gu Ning, she was anxious. Putting down the bag of apples, she was about to search for Gu Ning when she saw her walking back. Her heart relaxed.

Gu Man knew that she was worrying to excessively so she didn't say anything to Gu Ning.

The next day Gu Ning received her results. Since everything was alright, she was discharged from the hospital.

Obtaining the report, Gu Man was finally completely relaxed. Immediately packing up their things, they prepared to leave.

"Ah, Gu Ning, I came to see you!" A female voice resounded from the doorway.

Gu Ning looked over and saw An Qian.

Gu Ning wasn't particularly surprised. She had expected that the doctor lady would eventually come to find her after the event the day prior.

An Qian worked in the hospital, after all, all she had to do was ask.

She was right. After Gu Ning left the day before, An Qian came to the realization that Gu Ning would likely be somewhere in the hospital. Either she was sick or her mother was.

Certainly, it's also possible that she and her mother were her to visit a relative.

If it was Gu Ning who was sick, then she could ask the service desk, she would know.

If it was her mother… she didn't know her name.

If it was any other relative, she couldn't ask either.

Still, An Qian tried the service desk without much hope if there was such a patient as Gu Ning.

She lucked out, so she came to visit Gu Ning as soon as she could.

"Miss An, you're here." Gu Ning greeted.

"This must be your mother!" An Qian asked as she turned to Gu Man.

"Yes." Gu Ning nodded.

"Gu Ning's mom, hello! I am An Qian, Gu Ning's friend." An Qian greeted Gu Man in a friendly manner.

Actually, An Qian was a bit stuck on how she should greet the other party.

Gu Ning's mother was probably about 40 years old, but she was 27. The other party was about ten years old when she was born, so calling her aunt would mean she was insulting her as old.

But on the other hand, if she called her sister, then that would mean Gu Ning who she had called a friend would have to call her aunt!

Gu Ning was 18 years old, about ten years younger than her. Having her call An Qian aunt wasn't something she wanted even if Gu Ning was willing!

She didn't want to treated like an old lady.

Truly, she was at an awkward age. Why couldn't she have just been 20, still young and her family wouldn't pester her to get married whenever she came home.

She didn't have any suitors, who the hell was she going to marry?! Even if someone wanted to marry her, she still wanted her freedom for another few years.

Alright, she was getting sidetracked.

Although she and Gu Ning were ten years apart, the girl didn't give her the feeling of a normal 18-year-old. Though she looked like the other girls her age, her manner was more mature.

Perhaps this was the so-called early maturing…

"Miss An, it's nice to meet you." Gu Man was also friendly towards the doctor. Although she was curious about how her daughter had come to make a friend with such an age disparity, she didn't put much thought into it.

She had never restricted Gu Ning about the friends that she was allowed to make. She could only hope her daughter had good discretion.

"This is a tonic for Gu Ning, I hope it helps her become healthy again." An Qian handed Gu Man the bottle.

"Ah, Miss An you brought a gift as well! I feel embarrassed." Gu Man felt a bit embarrassed, just by a look she could tell that the gift wasn't cheap.

However, she still received the gift. This was a show of the other person's regard. If she rejected, wouldn't that be like her telling An Qian that she didn't like her? She wasn't that sort of person.

"It's just a small token." An Qian smiled.
