Chapter 3 – Ability Revealed

Tang Aining's, no, Gu Ning's consciousness startled Gu Man and Gu Qing. Looking at Gu Ning who was already awake and leaning against that bed, Gu Man and Gu Qing couldn't believe their eyes.

The doctor had said that there was a blood clot on Gu Ning's head, that she needed to have a surgery before she would be able to wake up, but Gu Ning was already awake.

"Ningning you…you woke up!" Although she was startled, Gu Man quickly came to her sense. In tears, she rushed to the hospital bed, she wanted to hold on to Gu Ning but she feared that it would cause more damage to her already wounded body. Helpless, she didn't know where to put her hand.

"Ningning, you woke up, you really woke up!"

Gu Qing immediately flushed as well, the blood in her body rushed from happiness.

"Mother, aunt, I'm awake." Gu Ning smiled somewhat helplessly, grasping Gu Man's two hands, she reassured the crying woman.

"Mhm, you woke up well, you woke up well…" Finally hearing her daughter talk, Gu Man cried even harder. She tightly grasped Gu Ning's hands in fear that her daughter would disappear if she let go.

Gu Qing also shed some tears of happiness; her heart had been thrown about in the past day, sad one minute, happy the next.

"Ah that's right! I'll go get the doctor." Gu Qing said that and immediately ran out of the room.

Very soon the doctor also entered the room, equally startled. The fact that Gu Ning had gained consciousness was a miracle!

However, for the sake of safety, he arranged another series of checkups.

After the checkups were completed, Gu Qing ran to the store to buy something for Gu Ning to eat while Gu Man accompanied Gu Ning at her bedside, reassuring her daughter that everything was alright.

From Gu Man, Gu Ning felt the heavy maternal love that she had missed since the day Tang Yaxin and her mother entered their lives.

It was the first time since her mother had become vegetative that someone had shown so much care and regard for her.

Although Qi Ziyue had spouted many honeyed words, perhaps because he was insincere, she had never truly felt this sort of warmth.

After delivering the food, Gu Qing had to leave for work. Gu Man had however taken all three of the months' vacation days after the accident the day prior, so she had until tomorrow off.

Gu Man spoke to Gu Ning for a few more minutes before she told her to rest well.

Gu Ning was aware that Gu Man most likely hadn't been able to sleep since the accident, so she insisted on Gu Man accompanying her on her bed.

Although Gu Ning was awake now and it felt as if a large stone had been lifted off her chest, Gu man was unable to feel at ease until she saw the test results, therefore she was unable to rest.

In response, Gu Ning told her mother that she wouldn't sleep either if she didn't. Gu Man could only helplessly agree.

Gu Man was quite tired. She had only laid down to appease Gu Ning but she hadn't thought that she would actually fall heavily asleep.

But Gu Ning wasn't sleepy, in a daze she stared at the ceiling, remembering things from her past.

Suddenly, she saw a pair of feet walking over her head. Startled, Gu Ning gathered herself, but what greeted her when she looked again was a shiny white ceiling.

In perfect senses, how could she have seen feet walking over her head…Was she hallucinating?

Gu Ning no longer paid any attention to the ceiling. Standing up, he vision fell to the side of the bed where Gu man was sleeping. Her skin was extremely withered and yellow. When she relaxed, wrinkles were visible around her eyes and on her forehead.

Gu Man lived a laborious life. She never spent money on cosmetic, never spent money on food, and she never bought herself proper clothes.

But when it came to Gu Ning, as long as she could stand, she would work to ensure that Gu Ning was satisfied.

However, no matter how antisocial or clueless Gu Ning was, she was clear on the situation of her family. Therefore, she had never possessed the competitive nature that most children her age had felt.

Since she was now living as Gu Ning, naturally she had to look after herself and Gu Man. Moreover, she had a revenge to take; this kind of weakness couldn't be allowed any longer.

She had ambition. Since she wanted to deal with the Tang family, she must become an existence comparable to the formidable Tangs.

Although the Tangs were only a third-class rich family in Beijing, the details were still something worth taking note of. Their wealth was actually quite abundant, tens of billions in property; they were the richest and more powerful family in Three Sting Town.

However, the current grandeur of the Tangs was all to Tang Aining's merit.

For the Tang household, she killed the competitors, stole confidential files, and god knows how many other crimes.

Because Tang Aining feared that she would be caught, she had taken care of anything that pointed at her or the family. If she wanted to accuse the Tangs, there is nothing left for her to do so.

Thinking about the Tang family, Gu Ning was out of sorts, in her daze she saw people passing by in front of her. Once again she was startled, but she gathered her composure.

But where did she see people passing through? All that she could see was a clean white wall! Was she actually hallucinating?

That wasn't right. Just a moment ago, aside from the humans, she had also seen a familiar door labeled 106.

Room 106… wasn't that the ward directly opposite to hers?

But how could she see that door?!

She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but Gu Ning felt as it what she had seen was real.

Thinking about the unexpected event, Gu Ning faced the wall and concentrated her mind.

In a moment, the wall slowly started turning transparent and ward 106 and the doctors, nurses, and patients were revealed once again.

Suddenly, a strange and unlikely possibility came to Gu Ning.

Could this be X-ray vision?

Thinking of that possibility, Gu Ning shook with excitement before she reigned herself in.

For the sake of surety, Gu Ning turned towards another wall and focused. The wall turned transparent again and she saw beds, a patient, and medical instruments.

With that, she was sure that she had X-ray vision.

However, Gu Ning found it somewhat unreal, so she stared at the different walls of her room like a crazy person, showing a light smile each time she successfully saw through.

Suddenly, Gu Ning felt a stabbing pain in her eye and she fainted.

In her dream, Gu Ning saw her body crashing into the sea, sinking at a steady pace when all of a sudden the jade necklace on her chest flashed red.

Then, a distant and ancient voice sounded. "In the distant past, there was a jade called Phoenix Blood Jade. Phoenix blood transforms one's body until they are able to carry Primal Chaos Lingqi. When the spirit and the jade join the body, the Nirvana Rebirth Jade pupils open, looking past space. Absorbing more jades will provide longevity, and possibly rejuvenation."

Gu Ning was startled so fiercely that she woke up.

That's what was going on?

Though Gu Ning had some doubts, after thinking over what the voice had told her, she more or less forms a picture.

The Phoenix Blood Jade was made of phoenix blood, which carried the Primal Chaos Lingqi from the ancient times. Due to this, she was somehow able to communicate with spirits which allowed her to gain her new power. Her rebirth should have also been due to this jade.
