“You cried,” he coldly remarked, looking at her slightly puffy eyes .
“I did not!” She lied through her teeth .
“Your eyes are red,” he stated plainly .
“I rubbed my eyes vigorously, that’s why!” she exclaimed like a dead duck .
“Your mother’s eyes are like this, too,” he pressed on .
Hearing his words, she involuntarily blurted out, “How did you know?!”
