Chapter 2 Stay Glued to the Bed Plan

Chapter 2 Stay Glued to the Bed Plan The next day was a weekend. For students who had not yet started school, every day could be weekend, but Yue was an exception. She had been working part-time in a restaurant for a while. Besides, Christmas was followed by the New Year, and then the Spring Festival. For the restaurants, these were the busiest days in the peak season, and there were very few days of rest. Even if there were, Yue had to review all her homework and prepare for the grading examination for the last semester. This was very important for her—especially dance, which had been her mother’s dream for many years. She remembered that when she left Japan, she had vowed in front of her mother and promised to become a good dancer. However, when she came to China, she realized that their traditional dance with its profound cultural character was not easy to grasp in a short time. What was more, there were certain other classes to listen to. The pressure to fulfill the promise to her mother was only known to herself. Perhaps she really should thank this unfortunate incident, which let her lose her job, smoothed her tensions, and allowed her to calm down and get a good sleep. The senior brother would not appear. She had to accept this as a fact, and she could deal with this result without slipping into a bad mood. She really wanted to stay in bed until noon—no need to get up, no need to eat; just sleep. But this plan was completely disrupted after dawn. Who knew which annoying person was moving in this department so early in the morning? She had chosen this top floor compartment because she could enjoy the quietness here. It was the opposite room the nuisance was moving in. Since the graduation of her senior sister, the room had been vacant for a long time. And now that it was a new semester, she knew that the college would reassign it, but she did not expect the new resident to arrive so quickly. The annoying voices from the opposite room seemed to be endless, disregarding the feelings of the neighbors. The sound was as loud as thunder, and she bet all the people living in the building had been woken up. Can't it be one or two days later? Yue thought, picking up the quilt to cover her head. But she could not hold out for more time. She sat up angrily. Still in her pajamas, she rushed to the opposite door and looked into the room though the peep hole. She saw a group of men in the room, busy with moving all the furniture that the college prepared for the students out of the room, piling it up in the hallway, and moving in their own things. They must been coming from the wealthy families, Yue thought in secret admiration. Common students wouldn’t do this. Why would they come to an ordinary dormitory? They should be staying in the luxury apartments the college provided, which were never filled at any time. At this moment, a familiar voice reached her ears. She couldn’t make any mistake with that loud and rough voice. It belonged to the school's hydro-power worker, Old Huang. She had begged him many times to come to repair her own door, but he would never come, citing different excuses.    For a whole winter, the door couldn’t be closed tightly, and the cold wind poured into the corridor, which made her suffer a lot. But he came today, and there seemed to be another person with him, but she was too far away to hear or see the fellow. Closer and closer they came to her. Yue was shocked. The man turned out to be the guy who bothered her yesterday on the roof. Why was he here again? With Old Huang? From the upper stairs? The door toward the roof must have been locked. Poor her. Did she do anything wrong? She was just missing her hometown too much. She looked at the smile on the guy's face and became more and more irritated with him. The noisy bastard who was impolite to her yesterday had come to fight with her here today. Had she offended him in a previous life, or what? Why were all these unlucky things happening to her lately? Even worse, the guy entered the opposite room. Was he now her new neighbor? Oh, no . . . ! Without saying a word, Yue left the door and turned back to her apartment to throw herself into the sofa. My goodness, you’ve got to be kidding me. This was a dormitory for girls only! What made the leaders of the school send a boy here? How could she survive the new coming semester with such an annoying neighbor?   ================= I'm a beautiful break line. ^-^=================   The sound of someone knocking at a door interrupted Yue before she could finish her complaints. That's right! It was her own door! She stood up angerily. If she was like her good friend Qian Lin, she would say, “How I want to kick him to death immediately.” But Yue was not her. "Hi, classmate? Are you at home? Would you please open the door? I am new to this apartment." Who didn’t know that he was new? By now the whole building should have known it! "Classmate, are you there? Are you okay? Open the door and say something!" She had seen brazen people a lot, but never had she seen someone as brazen as him! She had thought that the guy named Nianxia who broke into Qian Lin’s apartment was the most thick-skinned. Now she’d met a better-skilled one. "Yue, open the door! I really have something to say to you!" Oofff . . . If she’d been drinking water, she would’ve spat it back out. Yue looked at the door with amazement. Did the guy actually check her information? From the last evening to now wasn’t a long time, and yet he’d managed to convince the school leaders to allow him to live here? This guy was for real! "Yue, I know you are inside! If you don't answer me, I will break in!" What a violent guy! Yue, realizing she had no choice but to answer, scrambled for a reply. “Oh, don’t! I am here! But it’s not convenient for me to open the door now, so please wait!” "Good! I will be waiting for you, up to ten minutes. But don’t test my patience!" What does the violent boy outside my door want to do? Do you still think that I am going to kill myself? Yue didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. Looking down at her pajamas, she couldn’t laugh. Standing up, she went to her bedroom with the knowledge that her plan to stay glued to her bed was now completely ruined. Sure enough, ten minutes later, there was another knock on the door, and Yue helplessly opened the door. His satisfied smile waited for her on the other side. The way she saw it, it was a smile filled with the pride of success. "Hey, Yue, I am relieved to see you are fine! You don't know how I worried about you yesterday!” As he spoke, he rushed into the apartment without asking her permission, as if he’d just returned to his own room. His eyes glanced at the room without focus. "How about you? Did you have a good rest last night? In the future, we are neighbors. If you get in a bad situation, or if you need help, tell me directly about it. I, I am willing to solve problems for you, but never be as stupid as yesterday, will you?" ". . ." Yue had been rendered completely speechless in front of him. What is in this guy's head? Why do you always think that I am planning suicide? But she nodded politely. Seeing her obey his words, he seemed to be very happy. He was arbitrarily squatting in the room, as if looking for some clues. Yue was nervous when he seemed stunned at the sight of her bedroom. She hadn’t had time to clean up, and a glimpse of shyness flickered over her face. "Excuse me . . ." "Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself." The man turned back and his eyes stayed on her face for two seconds. Then he reached out his hands to her, and introduced himself. "My name is Shao Xun. I am very glad to meet you, Yue Xiyuansi, my classmate!" "You . . ." Yue looked at him in surprise. He really went to check her profile! However, he still looked very happy. "I know that you are not entirely Japanese, nor are you a pure Chinese. But your Chinese is very good, so we should have no problem communicating!" Yue grew pale in shock, staring at the creature named Shao Xun, trying to guess the purpose of his coming here. "Oh!" He smiled and walked around as if he was inspecting, and went to the bedroom she planned to clean up later. Yue was surprised; she rushed to stop him. "No!" "Hey!" He screamed and shrugged helplessly. "I forgot that this is your boudoir, but . . ." He intentionally stretched the word very long, and his eyes flashed a glimpse, and then he suddenly pushed her away. "For your safety, I have to check!" "Don't go in!" Yue exclaimed, chasing behind him. What exactly does this guy want to do? However, she couldn't think too much before Shao Xun entered the bedroom and his eyes were already scanning around. It was too late to stop him. Yue was bashful and her face turned red; she stood there, dull and silent. Her eyes stayed on the quilt that she had not been able to put in order, and her heart beat rapidly. She’d never lost face like this. "This is your family?" Pointing at the photo on the bed, Shao Xun looked back. In an instant, he was overcome with emotion. Looking at her shy expression in the photo, a strange feeling floated out. What a beautiful little girl, laughing so cutely. Now she must be more beautiful if she was willing to laugh! He couldn’t help staring at her face when thinking this. “Yeah!” Yue nodded lightly. “This is a photo taken when I went home the year before.” "A good friendly family; a pair of loving parents, and . . ." he paused, "a beautiful little girl!" Yue suddenly looked up and stared at him. "Classmate, have you finished your check? Do you still think that I am planning to commit suicide? I don’t want to have any hard feelings about yesterday, but would you please stop bothering me?" "Oh . . ." This statement made him extremely embarrassed. "I . . . was just . . . eh, I was just worrying about you!" "Worried about me?" Yue twitched her mouth coldly. "I went to the roof just because I missed my home, and I wanted to look at my hometown from the roof. Is that wrong? If you think I violated the school rules, you can report me to the teacher. Don't torture me like this." "Keep calm!" Wen Yan Shao Xun's expression faltered, and then resumed its previous cheeky look. "You see, your mood is still unstable! If there is anything unpleasant in your heart, just tell me. We are neighbors, and I want to be your friend . . .” The words that followed were all missed by Yue. She couldn’t bear any more. Secretly, she shouted in her heart, Oh, God! How can I be so ill-fated? She was going to be stuck with him as a neighbor for at least one semester!
