Chapter 4: Inner Island, Searching for a New Soul Pet
At another site, within a luxurious hall, stood four men. Three of them are enforcers whom the children have met before.
These three enforcers are leaders at this Green Nightmare Demon Island, with twenty other enforcers under them. They dictate all that happens on this island.
At this moment however, the three leaders of Green Nightmare Demon Island stood respectfully behind a white clothed man, the cruelty and hostility shown towards the children nowhere to be seen.
“Sir Xia, it is our honour to have you back at the island” said the head of the enforcers.
“Cao Yi, is the kid I left here dead yet?” said Sir Xia.
Sir Xia is a man of about thirty, with pale skin. Due to his somewhat weak and sickly appearance, he gives off a cold vibe.
“Not yet.” replied Cao Yi, the highest ranking leader.
Slightly surprised, Sir Xia mumbled to himself: “Back in Luo Gang city, the information we received from the hirer clearly states that Chu Mu was barely a soul disciple. With that weak of a soul power, he should have been devoured by the White Nightmare Demon at stage 2, how is he still alive?”
The three enforcers have no idea what Sir Xia is mumbling about, and can only look at each other in silence.
“Sir Xia, do you need us to kill him? It’s an insult for your White Nightmare Demon to devour such a weak soul.” said Cao Yi finally.
“There’s no need for that, if he’s still alive, that means his soul power is enough to support my White Nightmare Demon. Looks like this kid have some capability after all. Since there’s no other suitable host, let him raise it for now. We might even get a pleasant surprise……” said Sir Xia.
Saying that, Sir Xia stood up, and continued “Let him continue his training here, after his death, send the White Nightmare Demon to my island.”
“What if he doesn’t die?” asked one enforcer softly.
“Idiot! Every White Nightmare Demon requires thousands of corpses to raise, how can this kid survive?” scolded Cao Yi immediately.
“Yes of course, I’m sorry for being stupid……” the enforcer who asked nodded his head furiously.
Sir Xia smiled mysteriously and walked out.
In truth, even Sir Xia doesn’t think that Chu Mu can survive, because the White Nightmare Demon’s growth process normally requires at least a thousand good hosts……
Sir Xia’s White Nightmare Demon is a new born. For a gifted young soul master, a baby White Nightmare Demon’s appetite is still sustainable.。
But this is only because the White Nightmare Demon’s stage is low. As the White Nightmare Demon grow and its appetite increases, it will require a stronger host instead of weak fifteen year old soul masters like Chu Mu.
Sir Xia believes that Chu Mu’s time will be up when the White Nightmare Demon grow to stage 3.

Inside the wooden cabin.
“The number of high grade soul pets with good potential on the island is limited. We should hurry and capture our soul pets. If we get a bad pet, even with three months of rigorous training, it will be very difficult to get top ten.”
The life and death struggle last night did not affect Ding Yu’s sleep, and early the next morning, in high spirits, she decided to go capture her own soul pet.
“Okay, good luck.” Chu Mu slightly nodded, saying to the waiting Ding Yu.
“Huh, don’t you intend to come with me?” asked Ding Yu.
“Let’s act separately. You don’t want to have one less occupant in the cabin after we meet a good soul pet do you?” said Chu Mu relaxingly.
Ding Yu pursed her thin lips, and said: “But, without cooperation, how can you defeat or capture a soul pet?
Usually, a soul master’s first soul pet will be provided by their family, teacher or elders. They need a period of training before they are able to fight for their masters.
However, the training method on this Nightmare Demon Island is different. A soul master need to think of ways to obtain their first soul pet aside from the Nightmare Demon. They might even have to fight the soul pet themselves.
“You should know the situation we are in. If we cooperate with others, unless you have a size advantage like Zhou Sheng Mo, others will snatch from you. Wherever there is conflicting interests, there’ll be casualties within the group. If we want to obtain a good soul pet, it is best to act alone……” said Chu Mu seriously.
“But……I’m only asking because I don’t trust anyone else……” said Ding Yu shyly.
“I’m not trustworthy either.” said Chu Mu. Saying that, he lifted his bag and walked out of the cabin.
Looking at Chu Mu’s back, Ding Yu stamped her feet angrily and said: “To think I helped you apply medicine yesterday! How about if we meet a good soul pet, you can have it first! Petty!”
Chu Mu ignored Ding Yu’s protest, as applying medicine is only a minor thing. If one day Ding Yu’s injured he’ll just return the favour. This is a brutal and cruel island, not some city where girls are to be protected.

Having applied the medicine for one night, Chu Mu can now move freely, the pain from his back no longer affecting him much.
Chu Mu has already figured out the terrain of the island. In the thick jungle, Chu Mu moved nimbly, and quickly arrived at the obstacle filled centre of Green Nightmare Demon Island.
The island has a radius of twenty kilometres. Even though the island has been occupied by Nightmare Demon Palace for a long time, the executives spend most of their time in the outer perimeter. The inner ten kilometre area is seldom visited.
Green Nightmare Demon Island has its own ecology, with many types of soul pet living here. To obtain a good soul pet, luck, good judgement and power is vital.
Luck, naturally refers to meeting a high grade soul pet.
Judgement, one needs to be able to tell the stage and potential of a soul pet.
Power, to be able to capture the soul pet.
In theory, every soul pet, regardless of its strength, can be captured.

The majority of the children are already searching for their soul pet in the outer perimeter. These children stopped frequently, observing every living creature they encounter, making sure they do not miss out on a good soul pet.
But Chu Mu behaved differently. He headed straight for the island’s centre, ignoring every soul pet he encountered along the way!
The inner parts of the island is a dangerous region. Even the enforcers do not enter here frequently. Similarly, Chu Mu did not come here because he was ambitious or confident.
He knows if he stayed in the outer perimeter like the other children and obtained a low level soul pet, with his experience and judgement, he should be able to get top ten.
But after that, he won’t be far from death. In his body is the way more terrifying White Nightmare Demon. Without a strong soul pet, Chu Mu’s progress will be severely limited.
Even though Chu Mu wants to take the safer route, getting stronger one step at a time, he doesn’t have a choice. He cannot lower his expectation, or even compare himself with the other children on the island.
He has his back against the wall, his only way out is to rise from the ashes!
