Chapter 9
Li Chuan stared at Quan Shi silently, secretly somewhat upset.
This powerful man rarely revealed such a…… frail expression.
But after accompanying Quan Shi for many years, he naturally knew how this man had step by step become the seemingly cold-blooded and ruthless he is today.
Ever since he found out she was no longer in the world, the Boss lost both his sole weakness and his armour.
He seemed so strong when in fact his body was covered in wounds and scars. A single touch would result in deep pain.
Just now, he had probably seen her shadow on Miss Shen.

At 5:00 AM, the alarm clock rang.
Shen Shenxue instantly opened her eyes, and entered the bathroom after changing clothes. As she watched, she could vaguely hear the rustling footsteps and muffled voices outside.
It seems that it wasn’t just her who lived here. It was the servants area.
After washing her face and rinsing her mouth, Shen Shenxue wanted to open the door and go outside. But when she turned the knob, the door turned out to be locked.
“Is anyone there?”
She knocked at the door with force, hoping to get somebody’s attention. However, nobody responded.
Shen Shenxue frowned. She could clearly hear footsteps right outside so it can’t be that they didn’t hear her, but rather, they were deliberately ignoring her.
As the footsteps faded off into the distance, Shen Shenxue stopped knocking the door and shook her hand. She crouched, leaning on the door powerlessly, her face pale.
She wasn’t feeling dispirited because they ignored her. She had long known throughout the years about how warm and cold others can be in life. She would just watch on with folded arms. This little thing wasn’t enough to affect her.
However……. From their conversations just now, they all seem to be heading for breakfast.
If you counted it up, Shen Shenxue hadn’t eaten or drunk properly for almost two days and now she’s missed today’s breakfast as well. Her stomach really ached.
The thing she loathed most was going hungry.
She didn’t know if it was an illusion caused by hunger or not, but there was a faint fragrance of food in the air as giggles sounded outside the door.
“Inside here is that woman who Boss had Special Assistant Li escort here. I wonder if she looks seductive?”
“That’s just normal. There are no ugly women who can enter the castle. If you want to climb into Boss’s bed just relying on good looks, you’re dreaming!”
“I heard that before she had tried to tempt Boss, who got angry and threw her here…… isn’t it a clear call for us to teach her a lesson?”
“But Sister Xiang-Xiang is still so merciful. If it was somebody else, they would’ve definitely taught her a harsher lesson. Isn’t just locking her door too simple.
“What nonsense are you talking? I didn’t do anything. Who could’ve imagined that the lock broke by itself. If it wasn’t for her lock suddenly breaking now, how could you have taken her share of chicken?”
“Hehe, right! We don’t know anything~ oh, how tasty……”

Shen Shenxue kept silent as she listened to them talk. Even though they denied it, it was clear that the one who broke the lock was “Sister Xiang-Xiang” and the other party clearly didn’t care about hiding it.
Teaching her a lesson? The corner of Shen Shenxue’s lips curled. They were all taking her as a pushover, huh……
She rubbed her stomach and reluctantly got up, walking back to the bedside. She pulled her bedsheets and tied it beside the window before crawling out, supporting her body weakly.
This was a two floor building and according to her experience, going down shouldn’t be too difficult.
Naturally, it was impossible to escape. This place was heavily guarded, she had no preparation whatsoever, and her body was weak. However, that was never her goal.
Shen Shenxue clung to the bedsheet and scaled herself down. The bedsheet wasn’t long enough and with her hand at the end, she was still a meter from the floor. She looked at the grassy lawn and didn’t hesitate, directly releasing her hands.
“Ah——!”
Her cry swiftly attracted the bodyguards’ attention. A group of men encircled Shen Shenxue, guns pointing at her.
The air was tense, with a dangerous atmosphere.
Chapter 10 [Reina] All the servants in the castle were here voluntarily. Under Quan Shi’s iron fist, loyalty did not need to be said. Somebody that acted as suspicious as Shen Shen Xue would normally be handled accordingly to how a spy would normally be dealt, regardless if they ended up injured or dead.
Sometimes, they would even be directly shot.
“Wait-”
Amongst the bodyguards, the ones that brought Shen Shen Xue over, recognized her. They hesitated for a moment before deciding to report to Li Chuan for him to manage this matter.
Shen Shen Xue let out a sigh of relief. Thank God, her gamble was successful.
Shortly after, Li Chuan rushed over and looked at her, feeling a slight headache, “Miss Shen, why did you have to go so far? Once you entered this castle, even if you managed to grow a pair of wings, you still wouldn’t be able to escape from here with your abilities.”
“Escape?” Shen Shen Xue blankly blinked her eyes, “I have never thought of running away. I was just too hungry and wanted to come out to look for some food to eat.”
“Then, how come….” Li Chuan stopped, seemingly understood the situation.
Even though in Master’s eyes, he doesn’t seem to express any concern, but Li Chuan could tell that this lady is special to him. He wouldn’t dare to allow any mishaps to happen to her.
Li Chuan let out a sigh as he reached out to support Shen Shen Xue. She stumbled before she could stabilize herself.
“Ah! Painful!”
“Did you sprain your leg?” Li Chuan looked at her before crouching down, “Here, let me carry you.”
Shen Shenxue’s heart warmed slightly as she looked at Li Chuan’s slender shoulders. Very quickly, she regained her composure and with an expressionless face, she climbed up on to his back.
When Xiao Wu saw Li Chuan was carrying Shen Shen Xue back, she anxiously went to find a doctor. Xiao Wu slightly frowned and went up to help let Shen Shen Xue down.
“Just what happened to you?” Xiao Wu’s tone was filled with rebuke, “Not only did you not come for your breakfast nor did you retrieve your assignment, you even made yourself into such a state.”
“You can’t blame me, someone locked me in the room.” Shen Shen Xue replied indifferently.
Even though she did not have enough power, she also could not simply let off those who plotted against her. She could only use Li Chuan and borrow his power/influence.
“So it’s like that. I understand.”
Being in this castle for so many years, Xiao Wu naturally understood those female servants’ jealousy-filled heart.
As long as one gets slightly more attention from Master, they would immediately get outcasted. With such an outstanding beauty appearing so suddenly, and even rumoured to have ambiguous relationship with the Master, the servants staying put would be strange.
While the resident doctor examined Shen Shen Xue’s leg, Li Chuan pulled Xiao Wu to his side, warned her repeatedly. He told her to take extra care of the newcomer, not to instruct others to bully her, in order to avoid incurring Master’s displeasure when he finds out.
Xiao Wu dully responded, feeling a sense of disapproval.
To her, all these words are merely Li Chuan’s wish, and was borrowing Master as a pretext. How could she fail to notice how the ever cold Special Assistant Li’s eyes regained a trace of warmth whenever he looked at Shen Shenxue?
Regardless, she still have to leave some face for Li Chuan. Furthermore, she also did not dare to allow the lower servants to be overly arrogant or else it would make Master lose faith in her capability to discipline her people.
That day, Xiao Wu swiftly uncovered the culprit who tampered with Shen Shen Xue’s room lock. It was a very charming female servant called Mei Xiang.
She was different from the many who were sold to the castle due to financial shortage. It was said that Mei Xiang came from a family that was considered to be well-off. Just that, she fell in love at a first sight with Quan Shi and came up with every possible means to enter into the castle to work. She thought that she could enjoy the moonlight first by becoming the pavilion closest to the water 1. But she didn’t expect that despite having being in the castle for more than a year, she had only seen Quan Shi’s face just a few times.
However, she was arrogant and was very ostentatious whenever she acted. She even formed connections with a few other girls to form a small group. As such, anyone who was displeasing to her eyes, she would willfully push them around. Xiao Wu would often turn a blind eye to this, and only when things goes overboard will she then reprimand her.
But this time, she would not be let off so easily.
