Chapter 64: Tiger Language, China’s Motives

At last, the gaze that filled her with fear shifted away from her.

She couldn’t help but heave a huge sigh of relief and feel aggrieved again.

She had only returned after such painstaking hunting, and yet they were suspicious of her!

How detestable!

Of course, even though that was what she was thinking, she naturally couldn’t say it out loud.

She obediently and respectfully stood where she was while she secretly prayed and hoped that no one noticed her. Please ignore me. Please ignore me, she thought.

Wang Hu and his family ate amid silence.

By now, a dinosaur carcass of that size was only a little more than enough for their family for a day.

There was nothing to be done about it. The spiritual energy density level was too low. If they wanted to speed up their cultivation, the only thing they could do was compensate with food.

After they were done eating, the two little fellows skipped off to continue watching their television shows.

After casting a glance at them, Wang Hu looked toward the cowardly tool of a fox currently pretending to be an ostrich at the side.

Roar~!

As though unintentionally, he said, “Have you eaten in the dinosaur world, Su Ling? If not, you can have these leftovers.”

Su Ling perked up at his words. She hadn’t eaten yet. All she had been thinking about was to hunt and return as soon as possible so that the vicious tigress wouldn’t give her any trouble. How would she possibly have the time to hunt again and have a good meal?

On the other side, Di Baijun’s brows locked into a deep frown right away.

That jerk! He’s actually giving other creatures food!

Even if the recipient was her servant and giving her a little food wasn’t a big deal, did that jerk need to concern himself with it? He had even offered it so quickly.

A hint of discomfort arose within her. She secretly glared at the jerk before looking at the fox. Then, she spoke in a domineering way that brooked no dispute.

Roar~!

“Go and clean up the place before you eat.”

Su Ling’s joy instantly vanished. She peeked at the demon lord sadly—only to discover that he was acting as if he hadn’t said anything at all and had turned away and was walking over to another spot nearby as if nothing had happened.

She secretly curled her lip but softly replied respectfully on the surface, “Yes.”

Then, she started to tidy up the various pieces of furniture outside the cave.

There were all sorts of pots and basins, toys, and some rather messy, random knick-knacks.

Satisfied, Wang Hu walked over to a nearby spot and started to cultivate. The fourth stage wasn’t hard to carry out. For example, he had given Silly Girl a small stimulus again just now.

Di Baijun watched Su Ling do the chores for ten-odd seconds before she also started to cultivate.

On the other side, Su Ling properly and meticulously tidied up everything.

Although she had never actually done all these, it was as though she was naturally skilled at it. Before long, the area outside the cave became significantly tidier and more orderly at one glance.

When she entered the cave and saw the state inside, she couldn’t help but diss Di Baijun mercilessly inwardly.

That vicious tigress is really exactly like those mistresses of the house in the television dramas. They know nothing except to order this fox around.

This place is such a mess.

She secretly ranted a little more inwardly before she started to properly tidy up the place.

She grouped the different toys together in an orderly manner, neatly packed the various pieces of clothing and put them away, and so on.

When Di Baijun paused her cultivation and entered the cave to take a look, though she still found the white fox an eyesore, she finally took joy in having a servant again. At last, she didn’t need to personally tidy up and do all these d*mned chores herself anymore.

In the following half a month, Su Ling’s arrival brought a pretty big change to Wang Hu’s family.

Household chores, parcel collection, hunting which was the most important task, switching cartoons for Big Treasure and Little Treasure, etc.—everything was left to her.

Both Wang Hu and Di Baijun saved a lot of effort. Even Di Baijun herself didn’t wish for Su Ling to be gone anymore.

Wang Hu also had concerns that, because Su Ling had only just come into their lives, he mustn’t go overboard and needed to take it slow. Thus, he always gave Silly Girl a little stimulus only once every two or three days and never went too far.

He deliberately made Silly Girl uncomfortable and glum and made her lose her temper at him over nothing.

Every time Wang Hu saw that silly little look of hers, he would involuntarily and secretly become happy and wish to see even more of it.

On this day, just as Wang Hu filled his stomach and was thinking about how he could give Di Baijun another little stimulus, Li Tong forwarded a document to him.

Wang Hu got Su Ling to play with the two little fellows first. Then, he turned on the cell phone and took a look. A dozen or more seconds later, he broke into a frown.

Roar~!

“Baijun, come over and take a look at this.”

Upon hearing his words, Di Baijun walked over coldly and haughtily and directed her gaze at the document.

A while later, Wang Hu spoke relatively sternly.

Roar~!

“To think there are existences that have surpassed the Divine Body Realm in that alternate world, Baijun!”

Just as Di Baijun opened her mouth and was about to reply, she suddenly glanced at the nearby Su Ling.

After a moment’s thought, a sliver of hesitation flashed across her face, and then her eyes began to glow.

Waves of information invaded Wang Hu’s mind. He suppressed Tiger King Body’s natural defenses and took the initiative to accept the information.

Before long, he understood all the content.

It was actually Tiger Language!

This was a language and script that was exclusive to the Tigers.

This was just like what he had expected. See? The Tigers definitely had their own language and script.

He gave it a go. Given his current level of control over his body, he was surprisingly able to speak it directly, too.

Finding it rather novel, he said, “Baijun. Baijun. Baijun.”

Di Baijun rolled her eyes at the jerk’s silly behavior, though she also suddenly had a bit of a different feeling in her heart.

This was the same for Wang Hu, too. After all, all their previous interaction had been via telepathy so they were only able to sense what the other party was saying, whereas this was an actual language. It was different for sure.

It was only after he called her name another two times in novelty that he stopped.

Wang Hu, who had already formed a vague idea in his mind, asked, “Why did you teach me the Tiger Language, Baijun?”

Di Baijun raised her chin and replied coldly and haughtily, “I thought of imparting it so I did.”

Wang Hu smiled at her response and cast a glance in Su Ling’s direction. Barring any surprises, she likely didn’t want Su Ling to hear what they were saying.

He didn’t mind, but if that was what Silly Girl wanted, then of course, he wouldn’t say no.

This could also be counted as a secret and private talk between the two of them.

“Baijun, China just reached a breakthrough with their scouting of the alternate world. They’ve discovered that there are actually experts who have surpassed the Third Realm there. What do you think of this?”

Wang Hu was still rather unaccustomed to speaking the Tiger Language during the first line, but by the time he reached the third line, he was already speaking rather fluently.

“Hmph. So what even if they’re Fourth Realm cultivators? What’s the use if they can’t enter this world? By the time Fourth Realm cultivators can enter, I’ll be able to slay them anyway,” said Di Baijun contemptuously with her usual domineering attitude.

Wang Hu ignored Silly Girl’s response. It went back to the same thing—Silly Girl could afford to act willfully when it came to certain things, but he couldn’t.

He had to carefully consider how it would impact various aspects.

“Baijun, what do you think China’s intentions in sending this information to us are?” asked Wang Hu thoughtfully.

Di Baijun frowned and thought about it seriously with her round head slightly tilted. In Wang Hu’s eyes, there was an unusual adorableness to the way she currently looked.

A gentle look surfaced in his eyes, and he continued to watch her leisurely just like that.

Three seconds later, that look in his eyes snapped Di Baijun, who was deep in contemplation, back to reality. She took a step back unnaturally before she glared fiercely at Wang Hu.

What was that jerk looking at?

Di Baijun barked coldly, “Don’t look at me like that ever again.”

“Sure, sure.” Wang Hu nodded, though the look in his eyes remained the same.

His response angered Di Baijun at once. He had agreed to it so flippantly and lightly.

“Baijun,”—Wang Hu took the initiative to speak before Silly Girl could lose her temper—”in my opinion, could China be feeling more and more pressure so they are trying to approach us to form an alliance?”

These were his true thoughts. During the last one and a half years, China—as well as the humans in the rest of the world—had been moving faster and faster as though something was chasing after them and that they couldn’t afford even a moment’s pause.

Wang Hu already had his own opinion about this. Coupled with this detailed report about the alternate world that they’d sent, the only motive he could think of was that they were trying to form an alliance with him.

Surely, they couldn’t just purely be sending this to give them a friendly reminder about how strong that alternate world was, right?

One must know that, no matter what, the ones standing at the absolute forefront of this world were ultimately still the humans.

There was no need to give them a friendly reminder at all. There wasn’t that big a link between their family and that alternate world.

Besides, given the humans’ arrogance and egotism, if it weren’t because they were feeling immense pressure; how would they possibly care about a mere Northern Tiger King like him?

They even specially sent him a document detailing the situation.

Di Baijun glared daggers at the jerk again. She simply couldn’t help but feel like that jerk was changing the topic.

However, when she thought about it, it really was possible that that was what they were doing. As though it were something beneath her contempt, she said disdainfully, “So what if it is? And so what if it isn’t? I can’t be bothered to pay them that much attention.”

Wang Hu nodded seriously and said approvingly, “You’re right, Baijun. Our current strength isn’t enough to walk unhindered in the world yet.

“There’s no problem in reaching an agreement and living in peace and harmony with China, but forming an alliance with them is tantamount to asking a tiger[1]… to become their cat’s paw.

“An alliance between two unevenly-matched parties will never be a true alliance.”

To be honest, Wang Hu really was a little worried that Silly Girl had been influenced and eaten away by China’s culture.

Fortunately, as expected, his Silly Girl was only silly toward him. She was in no way silly when dealing with others.

Startled, an unusual look flashed across Di Baijun’s eyes. To think that jerk was actually capable of saying such things.

It did surprisingly make a teeny-weeny bit of sense.

No, this wasn’t right. He must have seen it somewhere on the Internet instead.

“Hmph. Of course, I know that. I don’t need you to remind me of that.”

An unruffled Wang Hu said contemplatively, “If China really harbors ulterior motives, they’ll likely send people to come and look for us very soon.

“I’ll go forward and deal with them when that happens. Baijun, you protect Big Treasure and Little Treasure instead.”

“Alright,” replied Di Baijun. However, after she did, she felt like something was amiss.

It seemed like… that jerk was ordering her around?

Before she could think any further, Wang Hu’s voice turned slightly solemn, and he said, “Baijun, this world is becoming more and more dangerous. We have to work even harder than before. The faster we reach the Divine Body Realm, the better it’ll be. If you have any solution that’ll let us reach the Divine Body Realm as soon as possible, then come right out and say it. I’ll do my absolute best to do it no matter what the conditions are.”

Di Baijun, whose negative thoughts were interrupted, was also rather influenced by his words.

No matter how cold and haughty she was, the last few years were enough to let her understand that she was no longer the Paragon of Tigers she once was.

A hint of hesitation flashed across her eyes.

That jerk…

[1] The idiom he’s referring to here is literally ‘to ask a tiger for its skin’, which means to ask someone to act against their own interests
