1560 Mission Accomplished
Wei Yong felt worried, but he quickly composed himself and nodded politely to Jie Xi. He looked at the president and said, “President Xue, did you want to see me?”
President Xue pointed at the couch and said sternly, “Take a seat.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Wei Yong. He sat down on the couch with his back straight and his hands on his thighs.
“What’s going on with the project that you’re doing with Tsing University? Mr. Jie said that a huge mistake occurred. What’s going on?” asked President Xue candidly in a calm tone.
Wei Yong did not know how Jie Xi felt about the matter. Also, he had no idea what Jie Xi told the president. In any case, this was a serious question. If he did not give the right answer, it would only lead to further misunderstandings.
Wei Yong contemplated briefly before he stood up with his head lowered. “Sorry, President Xue. I’m sorry you had to find out this way. We were engrossed in discussing the project, so we overlooked communicating with Tsing University. This eventually caused some slight problems for us.”
When Jie Xi heard the vague inconsequential answer, he could tell that Wei Yong was a conniving man and it was not his first rodeo.
If he allowed Wei Yong to get away with this, he would have made a wasted trip.
Jie Xi tweedled his fingers anxiously and said, “This was my fault. When I found out the university had the patent, I should have given Mr. Wei a heads up. If I told you about it first, Tsing University would never have accused you of stealing their work. My bad.”
Jie Xi paused and looked at Wei Yong. “Mr. Wei, I know your personality well. You would never try to steal the students’ work out of greed.”
He sighed the moment he finished his sentence.
Wei Yong’s face became increasingly embarrassed.
Even though Jie Xi sounded as though he was on Wei Yong’s side, every word he uttered was lethal.
He was accusing Wei Yong of stealing the students’ work and patents.
The patent was very important to President Xue. Everything was already in order, but Tsing University surprisingly already had the patent.
Wei Yong felt if DO Corporation agreed to work with the institute, it would not be an entire loss for President Xue and help him smooth things over. Sadly, he had failed to finalize the project and the president knew everything now.
Stealing work was a serious matter, especially in the academic world. His reputation would take a hit to begin with, along with other consequences.
Jie Xi was accusing not just Wei Yong alone of theft, but also the entire institute.
The more Wei Yong pondered, the more his mind buzzed anxiously. He did not even dare to see the look on President Xue’s face.
President Xue genuinely looked annoyed. Since outsiders were present, he did not lose his cool. He simply said, “Stealing work is a huge mistake. Thanks for letting me know. We will talk to Tsing University about this.”
Wei Yong promptly broke out in cold sweat.
He knew exactly what the president meant by this.
“You are too kind, President Xue. I’m glad we managed to clarify things.” Jie Xi had gotten what he came for, so he decided to drop the matter. He checked the watch and stood up. “In that case, I’ll make myself scarce.”
President Xue nodded and stood up as well.
Before long, Jie Xi walked out of the office.
The moment he was gone, a serious look emerged on President Xue’s face.
