1558 A Chance To Make Up For It
Huo Yao raised her hand and patted Meng Jue on the shoulder before she said candidly, “Don’t worry. Papa has already forgiven you.”
Since she was rather tall for a woman, she looked like a genial elder when she spoke in this tone with a kind smile on her face.
Meng Jue went speechless.
“I’m going.” Huo Yao waved and entered the school.
Meng Jue stood where he was until she was completely out of sight before he finally veered his eyes.
She was clearly still the same. This meant he was imagining things earlier.
Meng Jue pulled his curly hair in annoyance. He suddenly felt relieved that he had stopped mid-sentence. Otherwise, she might have blacklisted him again!
Jie Xi was waiting for Meng Jue by the roadside. When he got closer, Jie Xi opened the car door and asked. “Are you going to the hotel? The regional managers are ready for the video conference.”
Meng Jue acknowledged softly. Before he got into the car, he paused to raise his head and said to Jie Xi, “I will give you a chance to make up for it.”
Jie Xi was stunned. A grateful look shot out of his eyes. “Uh huh. What do I have to do?”
Meng Jue lowered his eyes and said, “Go to the institute and explain the situation to the president and apologize about changing project partners. After all, we don’t want to ruin our ties with them just because they stole someone’s work, right?”
Jie Xi instantly caught his boss’s drift. “I get it. I will go over there later.”
He detested Wei Yong for getting him into such trouble. He finally had the chance to make up for it. If he messed up this time, his career was surely over.
Meng Jue acknowledged softly. His eyes were completely frigid now as he gave off a cold aura. He was warm and easygoing when he interacted with Huo Yao, but he was completely different now.
Someone wanted to steal his papa’s research. He could not let them get away with it.
Meng Jue’s lips twitched. He bent over and got into the car.
Jie Xi also got into the car. After sending Meng Jue to the hotel, he drove over to the institute.
Meanwhile, at the National Research Institute of Science and Technology.
President Xue had just come out from the meeting when his secretary ran over hurriedly. She said reverently, “President Xue, Young Master Min is here. He’s waiting for you at the office.”
President Xue looked delighted to hear this. He waved to the secretary before striding to his office.
The secretary had one other thing to report. She quickly ran after the president and said, “Oh yes. Jie Xi from DO Corporation is here to see you as well!”
President Xue had already gotten to the door. The moment he heard what the secretary mentioned, he paused and turned to look at her. He said in surprise, “Why is he looking for me? Did he mention anything?”
The secretary shook her head. “He did not give any details. He simply said he was here to apologize.”
What did this mean?
President Xue felt puzzled. He did not recall having any projects with DO Corporation recently. He paused and added. “Why don’t you invite him to the conference room first? I’ll be right over.”
“Yes, Sir.” The secretary nodded politely and turned to leave.
President Xue veered his eyes, opened the slightly open door, and entered the office. When he saw the man sitting on the couch, he said, “Why didn’t you tell me that you were coming?”
Min Yu stood up and nodded before he explained. “It was on the way.”
President Xue raised his brow. Before long, he spotted the roll of plans on the coffee table and quickly went over to get it. After going through it briefly, the smile on his face widened.
President Xue put down the plans and looked at Min Yu as he asked. “Are you free in the afternoon?”
Min Yu had heard the conversation at the door, so he said, “Just go settle your business first.”
President Xue paused and replied. “Good. Wait for me. I’ll be back soon.”
He put down the plans and left the office hurriedly.
