Chapter 1524: Refused To Revoke Patent Application
The next day, Qi Hui went to see Wei Yong. They had arranged to meet at the same place as before.
“I only found out about the patent application after the teacher told me about it.”
Qi Hui smiled apologetically as he explained to Wei Yong.
Wei Yong tapped his fingers on the table and listened quietly. He seemed a lot less angry than Qi Hui expected, so Qi Hui felt relieved.
“Mr. Qi, this is not your fault. I can totally understand why he did it,” replied Wei Yong calmly.
Qi Hui smiled without saying a word.
“No matter what, he should’ve told you. We have made plans based on your words, so this doesn’t look good on you.” Wei Yong looked at Qi Hui and responded coolly.
Qi Hui instantly became worried. Even though Qi Hui did not send in the patent application personally, he lowered himself and nodded. “You’re absolutely right, Mr. Wei. I totally agree.”
Wei Yong picked up his teacup and took a sip of its contents unhurriedly. “This patent means a lot to President Xue.”
Qi Hui froze briefly. He naturally knew about President Xue.
He was a first-class national researcher and had a lot of accomplishments under his belt. It seemed surprising for the man to take such an interest in this research project.
Qi Hui instantly felt annoyed and could not help cursing Liu Qian inside. If Liu Qian mentioned the patent earlier, it would have saved everyone the trouble.
Qi Hui inhaled deeply and said apologetically, “I’m sorry about this, but there’s nothing I…”
Before Qi Hui could finish his sentence, Wei Yong’s assistant interrupted Qi Hui from the side.
“Oh yes. I recall the applicant still has a chance to revoke the application as long as the official certification has not been released, right?” asked the assistant quizzically looking at Qi Hui.
Qi Hui looked at the assistant. He had considered this option previously, but it was probably impossible to make Liu Qian revoke the patent application judging from his attitude.
He might even go to Zhao Lian for help and that would only make things worse.
If Liu Qian escalated the problem, the university administration might catch wind of it. When the time came, he could kiss goodbye to his position as department head.
Qi Hui raised his hand and rubbed his brow before he said, “I doubt that’s possible at this stage since the school already knows about this.”
Wei Yong glanced at Qi Hui. He already expected this response from Qi Hui. He put down his teacup and said calmly, “Well, patent application revocation isn’t the only way out.”
Qi Hui hastily raised his head on hearing this.
Wei Yong pursed his lips and said unhurriedly, “I have already spoken to the representative from DO Corporation.”
The moment Qi Hui heard what Wei Yong said, he caught Wei Yong’s drift.
Qi Hui and Wei Yong did not talk for long. Before long, they left the teahouse.
The sky outside looked cloudy. On Qi Hui’s way back to the university, it started raining halfway, but he did not go home and went to school instead.
Liu Qian was still in the office, working. The school term was commencing in a few days, so he was a little busy.
After placing a stack of documents into the drawer, someone knocked at his office door.
Liu Qian raised his head to see Qi Hui standing at the door. He paused briefly before he snapped out of his thoughts.
“Hi, Mr. Qi,” greeted Liu Qian in a cool tone.
Qi Hui disregarded Liu Qian’s lack of enthusiasm and stepped into the office. He glanced at the bookshelf by the side before he veered his eyes and said, “I need to talk to you.”
