Saehee used a bit of magic to heal me, and while I was in my room thinking about a plan to survive this madness, I heard someone approaching the room. The only two people who could create the sound of footsteps in this house were Narae and me, so I knew whom that was.

“I’m coming in.”

“Okay.”

Narae slid the door open and entered the room. Narae, bothered by the events from earlier, was unable to look straight at me. She sat next to me, her gaze focused firmly away from me, and spoke bluntly.

“It’s your fault.”

That’s way too blunt.

“…I beg your pardon?”

“Seeing you doing something so weird to Rangii pissed me off, so it’s your fault.”

Despite what she said, she couldn’t hide her guilt from showing on her face. Seeing her glancing uncertainly at me, scared of how I might react, I had to hold in my laughter as all the worries from earlier vanished from my mind. Narae simply looked too adorable as she said with her whole body, Hurry up and tell me everything’s okay, you idiot, so I decided to tease her a little.

“I almost died just because I was giving Rangii a deung-mok.”

“…Ugh!”

“Just what were you thinking when you did that, huh?”

“I-I told you,” Narae said defensively, “It’s exactly because of that.”

There wasn’t any fight in her voice. Seeing Narae acting so submissive was stoking a fire within a certain part of me.

“So what? It was just a deung-mok. Or, what, were you planning on doing something like that to Rangii and me….”

“Hey.”

Ah, did I go too far? Narae looked directly at me, her glare reminding me of the need to limit my teasing within certain bounds.

“Wh-what is it?”

I immediately deferred to Narae in a pathetic display of cowardice.

“I know I did something wrong, but so did you. The way you act with Rangii is just way too weird.”

Narae was entirely serious, and I responded nervously.

“What do you mean?”

“I’ve noticed this since yesterday.”

Narae apparently wanted to make me hold in my breath.

“I … don’t think you really see Rangii as a little sister.”

Narae saw that I couldn’t say a word, and she forcibly opened her mouth, as if about to ask a question that she herself dreaded the answer to.

“D-do you actually love Rangii? As … as a woman.”

I could understand why she asked that so cautiously: she was indirectly asking me if I was a lolicon, and that had the very real possibility of making me mad. I don’t know how she’ll react if I give a vague answer, but I got the feeling that she sincerely wasn’t sure. That meant I didn’t need to give her a complete reply.

I like Rangii. I also lo…. Let’s put a hold on that for now. I look at both Narae and Rangii in the same way. Rangii knows this, and I know it. But Narae doesn’t. Narae thinks that I simply see Rangii as a cute little sister. But how would Narae react if I told her that I do see Rangii as a woman?

…She’d kill me.

But I need to tell her the truth one day. I like both her and Rangii, and should my feelings for one of them settle in my heart, I plan on confessing my feelings to that person. Because I’ll have made up my mind. Actually, now might be a good time. Yeah. Now, I just need to settle my thoughts and….

“So you were here.”

“Uwagh?!”

“Kyaah?!”

As if timed deliberately for when I was about to speak, Saehee appeared from out of thin air, floating down and then sitting on the floor next to Narae. Focused on our conversation as we were, we jumped in fright at Saehee’s sudden appearance and held onto each other as we backed away from her.

“Oh dear. Having an intimate encounter, I see?”

Saehee’s apology lacked any hint of sincerity. Narae and I looked at each other before suddenly moving away. I was actually a little sad at how accustomed I had become to these surprises.

“What was that for?”

“No particular reason, Young Master. I was simply sick of the sight of you two chatting vapidly while the Master is so crestfallen after seeing the Young Master get hurt—an event perpetrated by the two very people here.”

Just who….

“Just who did you say are chatting vapidly?”

Narae spoke for me. Saehee casually disregarded Narae and instead spoke to me.

“And so, Young Master. Rather than being a typical, useless, Baduk shit main character, would you not please go console the Master?”

I wholeheartedly decided to do something to improve Baduk’s treatment here. After Saehee’s sudden intrusion, I elected to set my confession aside for later.

Rangii was actually easier to deal with than being surprised by Saehee. All I did was hug Rangii and pat her on the back before the tears threatening to fall from her eyes relented. Narae’s gaze felt painful as she watched me do this, but taking care of Rangii was more important than my mental health. After entrusting the now content Rangii to Narae, I went out onto the patio. I needed even a moment to myself to get my thoughts in order. To figure out how I could convey my feelings to Narae. I sat on the patio floor and got lost in thought.

My thinking ultimately ended on totally tangential topics. I guess five minutes of serious thought is my limit. Man, I just wasn’t sure. I lay down on the patio to cool my head when I heard the master bedroom door open and saw Narae come out. Rangii didn’t follow her. Was she taking a nap? I turned my head to look up at Narae, and my childhood friend looked back and suddenly spoke.

“…I had a lot I wanted to tell you, but after seeing you like this, I have nothing to say.”

What’s the problem? All I’m doing is lying down with my hands under my head.

“Why’s that?”

“Instead of lying down, go exercise a little.”

“Exercise?”

Why mention exercise all of a sudden?

“Yeah. It looks like you’ve gained a few too many pounds around your gut.”

That’s only because I’m lying down. I sat up and spoke.

“That’s only because I was lying down….”

“I felt the same when I touched it earlier.”

That came back to bite me fast.

“I’ll teach you a simple work out, so try and sweat a little. Yeah. Maybe this will stop him from slobbering over Rangii.“

I decided to follow the piece of etiquette Saehee told me.

“But is this really the best weather for it?”

I looked around the courtyard. Narae followed my gaze and did the same. The blazing midday sun was baking the earth. The sand wasn’t just glittering because of the sun’s rays—it was as if the sand itself was burning white-hot. Needless to say, if I went out barefoot, I’d end up getting burned. I read on the Internet that today was the hottest day recorded in the past 32 years. It was already clear that a storm was brewing. And, I’m sorry, what? Exercise? If I’m out exercising, then who’s going to play with Rangii? But Narae didn’t seem to consider my excuses satisfactory. She crossed her arms, making her chest even more pronounced, as she stomped on the mat with her foot. This time she controlled her strength so that she didn’t break it.

“So what? Are you saying you don’t want to?”

Exactly.

“No, it’s just that I’m pretty sure I’ll get heatstroke if I do any serious outdoor exercise, so can’t I do it later, when the weather’s a little better?”

Narae stopped her foot.

“Just do it indoors.”

It seemed like she was hell-bent on making me exercise. It was like she was a wife caring for her husband’s health. …Ah, but I still really didn’t want to.

“What should I do?”

Despite everything, I couldn’t outright reject Narae’s kindness. After a bit, I’ll give a reasonable excuse and talk my way out of it.

“Sit-ups.”

Actually, I’ll talk my way out of this right now. Sit-ups are a difficult work out, but the bigger problem was the stance. Let’s think about who among the people here could hold my feet while I’m lying down. Rangii. Could she even hold my feet down? She’d probably end up going up and down like a see-saw. Baduk? She’s asleep. Saehee. Screw her. That left only Narae. Since Narae was the one asking, she’ll probably force me to work out, regardless of my thoughts on the matter. But if I do! My feet would end up pinned down by Narae’s butt, my shins making contact with her breasts, and my face barely a few centimeters away from Narae’s every time I forced my body up. When a boy and a girl do sit-ups together, danger is sure to arise!

“Then watch. I’ll do exercise 8 in the physical training regimen.” (tn: A set of work outs done in the Korean military. Apparently somewhat traumatizing.)

“The heck is that?”

Narae tilted her head to the side, genuinely clueless. I only knew this because of my dad, but this was apparently the most difficult of all the Korean military’s physical training regimens. I figured it was best to show her rather than tell her, so I lay down on the ground.

“It goes like this.”

I placed my arms on the ground to keep me steady, straightened my legs, oriented them towards the sky, and moved them slowly from side to side. I rotated my head in the opposite direction of my legs. I kept my legs perfectly straight, my knees locked. It felt as though my legs were about to be torn out of their sockets—that was how bad it hurt.

“This is the so-called PT number 8.”

“Heh. That’s a good one. You can keep going.”

“Go easy on me.”

All I had done was substituted one kind of torture for another, after all. I quickly stood up before Narae could like this work out even more.

“Why’d you get up? All I’m doing is watching. Keep going.”

That wasn’t what I meant by, “Go easy on me.”

“I bet you’d change your tune if you tried doing it. Just try and do 40 reps.”

“I work out a lot normally, so do you really think I won’t be able to do that few?”

Yeah. That’s probably how she’s able to maintain that almost insultingly rocking body. But I couldn’t help but feel that her attitude was misplaced. I lifted one hand and pointed at the mat, gesturing for her to give it a try.

“Just so you know, if I do the whole thing, then you’re going to, too, got it?”

“Sure thing.”

Narae lay down on the mat. Then she mirrored my movements exactly … which was a huge problem in itself. With her legs up in the air like that, her thighs were conspicuously exposed, leaving me with nowhere safe to look. Her straining legs could almost be described as similar to those of a wild mare that was galloping swiftly across an open meadow. …Though her legs weren’t that muscular.

“Take a good look.”

I am. The truth is, I couldn’t look away even if I wanted to. And then a moment later.

“Haaa, haaa.”

Narae began panting as her hair stuck to her forehead that was now slick with sweat. Her breasts shook up then down with her every breath. This was all perfectly natural considering the hot weather and the strenuous exercise she was doing. For the record, Narae quit after 22 reps.

“Th-this is, haa, way, way too hard.”

“I know, right?”

Now that that’s over, maybe I should just lie down and wait for the weather to start cooling down. Narae, however, had no intention of giving up. She forced her body up with just the strength in her back and wiped the sweat off her brow with the back of her hand.

“Do a different exercise, then.”

“Please give it a rest,” I implored.

“No.”

Narae stuck her tongue out at me. In any other situation, I would have wanted to shout, “So cuuuuuute!” but I didn’t have the luxury to enjoy that sight. Still, I suppose I should repay Narae for the adorable display she showed me. I’ll go along with Narae’s demands for today. After all, all I have to do is that work out, right?

“What do you want me to do?”

A smile spread across Narae’s face.

“What, are you suddenly motivated?”

“I figured you weren’t going to let it rest, so I defer to your will, oh great Narae~.”

“…You don’t want to do it so bad that you’re going to act like a loony?”

Ah, Narae was offended. And so was I. I wasn’t trying to act like a crazy person.

“I was joking. Please don’t pick anything too tiring, though.”

“In that case….”

Narae was deep in thought when I suddenly heard a familiar voice.

“Would hula hooping fit that criterion?”

That was Saehee. She was holding multiple brightly colored hula hoops in her hands.

“You scared me!”

“I am glad to hear that.”

This again? But contrary to my expectations, Narae didn’t continue fighting with Saehee.

“Still, that’s actually a pretty good idea. Even a lazy dunce like Sunghoon should be able to do that.”

I couldn’t help but feel like there was an insult mixed in there, but it was the truth so I elected to ignore it. She wasn’t exactly wrong: my main sources of physical activity are some light jogging and a little casual soccer. As the goalie, of course.

“While exercising, would you not care to include the Master as well?”

All of a sudden, Saehee was holding Rangii in one hand. Saehee was holding her by the collar of her shirt, and while hanging there, Rangii blinked her eyes, clearly confused.

“Huh? I was about to take a nap on Sunghoon’s shirt, but what’s going on here?”

My ears must have gone bad. I’ve been hearing so many strange things lately. Regardless, there was at least one thing I had to say.

“Isn’t Rangii supposed to be your master? What’re you doing treating her like that?”

“This is all for the sake of the Master.”

It was magic. For the sake of the Master. Having said those magic words, Saehee put Rangii down.

“The Young Master is not the only one in need of exercise, and rather than miss this excellent opportunity, I took certain uncouth liberties.”

Rangii glanced at me, her cheeks burning red, as she shouted.

“I-I don’t need to!”

I agreed with Saehee. Granted I did see her running around a little, but for the most part, I’ve only ever seen Rangii curled up sleeping, clinging to me, crawling around, or just plain lying down.

“All right. You can join.”

Narae furrowed her brow after I said that. Maybe because she now had two children to worry about. She didn’t look too happy. I felt bad. For asking an unwed young maiden to care for two kids. Huhuhu. While thinking these thoughts like some wizened old geezer, I spoke to Narae,

“Is it okay?”

“…Whatever.”

It didn’t seem like it, but she didn’t want to say anything else. Still, I think Saehee did more good than harm this time. Rangii should be able to join in and have some fun while hula hooping.

As if there wasn’t a trap hidden in Saehee’s suggestion. Once we got out into the courtyard and Narae showed Rangii how to hula hoop, I realized why Saehee picked hula hooping. Why, you ask? Just take a look. It’s a well known fact that, when hula hooping, the hips are the part that moves the most. …Yeah. The hips. So I, a boy in the middle of his tumultuous pubescence, couldn’t help but stare as Narae twirled the hula hoop around her waist with her back to me. More specifically, I couldn’t help but stare at her hips and butt. …Erotic. Seriously erotic. Was hula hooping always such an erotic exercise? My only saving grace was that Narae had her back to me. If Narae had noticed what I was staring at, she would have punched me in the face. Still, I didn’t have a choice. The rotation of her voluptuous hips looked shockingly similar to the gyrating of a lap dance. The bad thing was that the more I stared at those hips, the more I wondered how such perfect curves could exist. Even worse, every time the hula hoop threatened to fall, Narae would suddenly speed up her hips and bend her knees slightly. But the worst thing of all was my brain that was coming up with these thoughts from a harmless bout of exercise. Actually, make that my eyes that refused to look anywhere else. After realizing that continuing to watch would only make things worse, I fixed my gaze firmly on the ground. It was about that time that I thought Narae stopped hula hooping, because the sound of the hula hoop stopped.

“That’s how you do it. You get it?”

“I do.”

After hearing Rangii’s reply, Narae directed a question at me.

“Sunghoon, how about you?”

Why was she asking me? Did she think I didn’t know how to hula hoop?

Oh.

Narae genuinely did.

“Why are you looking away? What’s wrong? Isn’t it only manners to watch someone’s demonstration?”

Beginning to get upset, Narae spoke in a raised voice, and I gave an excuse without thinking.

“The way you were moving your hips was way too erotic, so I couldn’t—gyaaagh?!”

With a snap of the wrist, Narae sent the hula hoop hurtling at me. To my deep misfortune, despite throwing it in a fit of rage, Narae had thrown it directly at my nethers. Dear God in heaven. Cradling my crotch with my hands, I collapsed to the ground. I looked up and saw that Narae had a confused expression on her face.

“Ah….”

Uhuwaaaaagh. Here it is. Again. I gasped for air as I struggled on the ground for the second time today. It felt as though a span of a few seconds had stretched into an eternity.

“S-Sunghoon? Why’re you on the ground?” Rangii asked, worried.

Because it hurts, you brat. No man could handle the pain after being hit here.

“Um…. Want me to give you a back rub?” Narae asked.

Deep in pain as I was, I was still able to hold up one hand to stop her. I couldn’t speak. When I tried to ask her how she knew that that would help, all that came out was,

“Uhuugyaaaagh….”

Just more moaning.

“I-it’s your fault for doing that in the first place!”

Narae got mad at me. Hey, come on! I’ll grant you that’s true, but still! Huuuugh. Ah, tears are coming out.

“Does it hurt a lot? Ah! Then I’ll lick you!”

“R-Rangii! What are you saying?!”

Hey, God? This is enough tormenting, don’t you think? How much more do you plan on making me suffer?

“Ah, Narae, you didn’t know? Ehem! The truth is, I can heal anything just by licking it!”

“B-but you can’t lick there!”

“Why not?”

B-because….”

I was finally able to suppress the pain and come back to my senses, and I returned to hear something beyond a little strange.

“Rangii, you’re too young!”

The problem isn’t age.

“What are you talking about? I’m not a kid!”

I was afraid that Rangii was going to dart towards me and start licking me like crazy, so I grit my teeth and forced myself up. Narae and Rangii both looked at me. In particular, Narae had no intention of looking away from my place of injury.

“…Are you okay?” Narae asked cautiously.

“Not … even close.”

I trudged in agony towards the porch before sitting down heavily. Whatever. I don’t care anymore. Enough. I’m done.

“I need to tap out.”

Even Narae couldn’t oppose me this time.

“Aw…. But I wanted to do it together….”

Rangii seemed disappointed.

“If you’d only let me lick you….”

Stop talking about that, seriously.

And that’s how one of the members of the Rangii & Sunghoon Work Out Project dropped out and ended up merely a bystander. By the time the pain fully subsided, Rangii was able to hula hoop with skillful ease.

“Wow! This is fun!”

Rangii ended up having fun. She had her arms forward as she spun the hula hoop around her waist. Whenever the hula hoop threatened to fall, she would use her tail to scoot it up. I couldn’t help but feel like that was cheating, but her tail was still a part of her body, so I figured it was okay. I had a feeling watching Narae hula hoop would just bring back memories of the pain, so I contented myself with quietly watching Rangii hula hoop.

I was so focused on keeping my gaze solely on Rangii that I failed to notice Narae staring at me.
