Author’s Scribbles

I must first assure you that this Author’s Scribbles section is only half serious.

Hello. This is the as of yet alive author, Kanel. Thank you for purchasing the sequel to ‘My Tiger Can’t Be This Cute,’ ‘Our Magpie Has Changed.’ (tn: reference to Our Children Have Changed.)

Just like the first volume, the second volume is too thick to comfortably call a light novel. They’re big enough to where they’d be the perfect weapons for the The Avatar of Battle, the Antennaed Warrior to wield in the cover picture of Rangii Warriors. If one more volume comes out, then there’d be enough to bite. Actually, if you’re going to bite one, then please bite volume 1. Because of the cover art. Rangii’s belly. Her exposed belly. I want to lick the Tiger-nim’s bellyyyyy!

Like I said, this is only half serious.

I worked hard to show improvement from volume 1 to volume 2. It didn’t really work. This is why I like RPG video games. Because you can see the improvement in stats. What amazed me was that I decided, ‘Volume 2 is going to be shorter!’ but it somehow ended up being longer. I ended up suffering because of that. Next time, for sure, I’ll make it shorter than 300 pages! No, shorter than 270 pages!!

This is a tribute to a certain side character who only appeared two times in the series, and a certain nun character who ended up being sidelined just like her. I have no idea what to say to the fans of the series. (tn: a reference to the To Aru series. The side character is Himegami Aisa)

In regards to Chii, I got tired of holding the shift key to turn the K (ㄱ) in her name into a Kk (ㄲ), so I decided to just add a an ‘ii’ to Kkachi, and her name became Chii. Some may think that I actually changed her name for such a frivolous reason, so I must emphasize that what I’m writing is only half serious.

I truly wish I had a little sister like Chii to hug and take care of, one who’s incapable of honestly talking about her feelings. In Rangii’s case, I view myself as more of a father.

Fathers understand jealousy! (tn: reference to Envy Mask from Totsugeki! Pappara-tai)

Chii ended up having more of a heartbreaking side than an adorable side. That made writing a lot harder.

What would I do to a girl who acts unhappy and nags me?

Wheeeew. I’d take a deep breath, and then,

I’d hug her tight, rub her cheek, hold her up high, give her a piggyback ride, sing her a lullaby until she fell asleep, give her a bath, get her dressed, brush her hair, play with her ankle bracelet, feed her, make her cry by doing something she doesn’t like, play patty cake, teach her children’s songs, take her on a walk while holding her hand, and then turn her hand around and play with it. There’d be so many things that I want to do that it’d be hard to stop me.

I planned on having Chii become a star in the sky, shouting, “Chii may not be here anymore, but she’s still in my heart!” and having a lot more things happen, but I was afraid that my serious editor would crush me into a star, so I gave up on that idea.

That Mysterious Liquid X is exactly what you think it is. (tn: saliva)

After volume 1 came out and I told people that I wrote Me and the Tigress, a lot of people responded with, “You mean you’re that pervert?!” There was no difference in reaction between the real world and the Internet.

This is the extent that my talent, time, and effort can produce. In short, this is my maximum!

So what are you asking me to do? Saehee is staring coldly at me. No, you see…I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I’ll do better next time.

What an overcrowded author’s note.

Anyway, now it’s this volume’s thank you time.

To my readers who first got volume 1 then purchased volume 2. Thank you. Thank you so much. I only survived thanks to you all.

I am truly amazed by how the Seed Novel editing department guided a complete mess like me. If I were in their shoes, I would have put a dog collar on me, dragged me to the countryside, bury me in the ground, and threaten me with, “Are you going to write a good story? Or do you want to go to the army again?”

I give my thanks to Young-in, the artist who brought Chii and Ara so prettily and cutely to life. Much of the reason why I can write these volumes, and the reason why I can enjoy them as a reader myself, is because of the way Young-in brings these children to life. Please give me your help next time as well.

I also give my thanks to my parents. Thank you for being so understanding about why I had to write in the library and why I had to stay up late in a PC bang to type the manuscript. Thank you for not hitting me with a chair or splashing me with water when I come back home at 8 a.m. and sleep until 2 p.m. after having fun. I now believe that it isn’t because you’ve given up on stopping me.

Thank you to my hyung-nim. (tn: Think of this as meaning something like senpai, I guess). I was able to write freely because you left the house. I’ll lay off the teasing because when you came back from the military and saw what I wrote—even though I asked you not to—you said you would read volume 1 of Me and the Tigress out loud to me. Thank you for coming back safe and sound from the military.

Thank you to my friends. Just for not forgetting to invite me whenever you all went out, thank you. To me, ‘I Don’t Have Many Friends’ isn’t just the title of a light novel series. Come to think of it, the main character doesn’t have many friends, but he has lots of female friends. I want to tell him, “Please use polite, refined speech.” My language is being put through a filter. When that microchip in my head finally breaks, I’ll use curse words as a weapon to defeat Satan and save the world.

Finally, thank you to my friend, Nami, who cheered me on to follow my dream.

I will stop now.

Okay this is Dijon. Holy crap this took forever. I’m not sure if I want to translate volume 3 or not. My reservations for that volume are palpable…but I also kind of want to now. Eh. You’ll all find out when I either release V3C1P1 or V4C1P1. Bye now!
