Chapter 788: An Overnight Transformation

The ultra plants and beasts were currently running amok outside the building. Though Guan Shan was also an ancient warrior, he too had lost all of his internal power. He was now just slightly stronger than a civilian who knew some martial arts. As for his power, he had probably been downgraded to the C or D-tier.

“It’s just me,” Qin Feng replied.

The triumphant expression on Guan Shan’s face vanished immediately.

Guan Shan refused to believe what he had just heard. He could not care less about the dirt on Qin Feng now and grabbed the side of his battle suit. He asked nervously, “How could you be alone? They shouldn’t just send in a single person for such a huge calamity. There are victims everywhere around the city!”

Qin Feng did not shake off Guan Shan. He knew that the guy must be extremely tense at the moment. Qin Feng tried to comfort him and said, “No doubt, the entire city has fallen. But you should also understand that there’s not much the aptitude users outside can do when there’s a shackle cast on consciousness and internal force within this dimension. Coming in here recklessly is no different from suicide.”

“So they would just give up on us like this?” Guan Shan wished to tear apart whoever had made such a decision.

“I have yet to receive an update. Hopefully, they will send in more help as we speak.”

Guan Shan wanted to curse loudly. But he eventually loosened his grip. To calm himself down, he took several deep breaths.

“General Qin, forgive my impulsiveness. I am not blaming you.”

After all, it was not easy for Qin Feng to reach this deep into the city alone. That spoke about Qin Feng’s capability.

“A flock of wolves cornered us into this building. Did you bump into them on your way here?”

Qin Feng nodded. He had indeed exterminated a group of wolves on his way here.

Guan Shan was relieved.

The wolves were at about C1-tier difficulty. However, Guan Shan could not deal with them in his current state. He lost a couple of his men and managed to shake them off by retreating inside the building. Better still, they now had a powerful ally in Qin Feng, who did not seem to be bothered by the ferocious wolves.

Though there was only one person, Qin Feng’s presence still gave Guan Shan greater confidence. He did not dare to ask whether Qin Feng had what it took to rescue them all.

Since Qin Feng was a B-tier aptitude user and had helped them chase away the wolves, the group naturally respected Qin Feng. They surrounded him as he walked in, passing him water and towels. A few beautiful ladies approached him and wanted to help him wipe off the bloodstains.

“There’s no need for that. Rest as much as you can. We are going to break out of this place tomorrow,” Qin Feng announced coldly, “Find yourself a weapon if you want to live. Don’t be a hindrance, and don’t cry when we are escaping tomorrow. I will end your life myself if that happens.”

Qin Feng glanced at the crowd solemnly. Rather than putting your life in other people’s hands, it was better to equip yourself in this dire situation. That would increase the chance of survival as a whole.

A pretty lady was obviously not daunted by Qin Feng’s words. She said bashfully, “General Qin, please take good care of me tomorrow. I am born weak. I don’t think I can make it out without your care.”

She thought that men would always be protective and tender toward a delicate beauty like her.

Qin Feng was too lazy to entertain her. He stood up and said mindlessly, “Then perhaps you shouldn’t be born at all. If you hope to rely on others, then it’s better to die sooner than later.” He pulled a carton of water along with him to another corner after he had finished talking. The girl was left standing in embarrassment, baffled with tears swelling up in her rounded eyes.

Guan Shan was feeling vexed. He had his subordinate take the shameless lady aside.

Qin Feng showed no interest in interacting with others. He pulled two racks in front of him to block others’ vision.

His battle suit was completely spoiled. He took it off and threw it aside. The pungent scent of blood was all over it.

Qin Feng used the water to briefly clean himself. After putting on another set of battlesuit in his backpack, Qin Feng lay down to get some rest.

He could not activate his internal force, which meant that his most convenient recovery skill—Absorption—had also been sealed. The only way he could replenish his strength was through sleep.

The rest of the night passed on peacefully.

At dawn, as the first light broke the dark sky, the world seemed to be lit. At the same time, a new warning came through the communicator.

Jiang Haolin did not get much sleep. He had only closed his eyes for about a few minutes before being alerted by the alarm.

“What the f*ck?” Jiang Haolin yelled after he saw the same scenes through different drone lenses. He immediately ran out from the commanding vehicle and reached the place initially covered by grey fog.

The place was now covered by greenery.

It was a bizarre situation. Some trees seemed ancient with multiple annual rings exposed on the outside. This was perhaps the result of the tree being located right at the border of the spatial overlap. Nonetheless, such a giant forest was not here the night before.

“What is this? Why are there so many trees here overnight? The dimension has just expanded by about ten meters, right?” Jiang Haolin asked.

The others had also woken up after being shocked by Jiang Haolin’s howl. They thought that they were under attack. But the problem at hand was much worse.

Bai Li was also standing right by the silver fog. She looked unusually grim.

“Governor Bai!” Jiang Haolin ran to Bai Li. She was probably the most reliable person he could find now.

Bai Li nodded to acknowledge him and glanced back at the spatial overlap.

“Aren’t you worried? General Qin is still in there!”

“There’s no reason to panic. It’s useless to be worried for nothing. I trust my hubby.” Bai Li said.

“But…!” Jiang Haolin wanted to trust Qin Feng too. But he could not be as calm.

The other B-tiers had come out from the cars too. They studied the area and together, they quickly made a decision.

They suggested having Bai Li open up a passage and people would be sent in to remove the trees.

Everyone agreed to the idea. They might be too afraid to confront the ultra beasts and join the rescue mission. But the trees did not seem to be dangerous.

They needed to make a clear path through to the north gate. Though they did not know the actual situation inside Chungluo City, the least they could do was to make sure Qin Feng could find the original way back.

Bai Li wasted no time and created a small passage. A stunning development took place next.

The vines and branches were vigorous. Before the humans could get in, the plants seemed to have sensed the opening and branched out from the rift.

As soon as it contacted Earth’s atmosphere, the plant began to grow uncontrollably.

A huge branch bloated further up to two meters thick in a split second.

“Quick! Burn it!”

“General, the plant grew extremely quickly!”

Bai Li furrowed her brows and had no choice but to cut off the passage. The branch was immediately cut. However, Bai Li had underestimated its vitality. Once the branch touched the ground, roots immediately emerged from it and the plant continued to grow at an insane rate.

The ever-growing tree easily crushed a few aptitude users close by.

The thorns on the tree were getting thicker and thicker while the leaves on the branches emerged profusely.

The group finally realized it was actually a B2-tier ultra plant. How had they overlooked it?
