The elevator reached the 16th floor and stopped automatically to open the doors.
Qiao Nian walked out of the elevator leisurely, still carrying the thermos she had brought back from Aunt Chen’s place.

Qiao Nian walked along the carpeted corridor. Before she reached Room 1606, she saw the man leaning against her door.

Ye Wangchuan heard footsteps and looked up. Seeing Qiao Nian, his eyes seemed to be filled with thousands of stars. He said in a gentle voice, “Nian Nian.”
This time, Qiao Nian not only stopped in her tracks but also felt as if her heart had been stabbed. An inexplicable emotion rose in her heart.
Ye Wangchuan walked over and took the thermos from her as if it was natural. He smiled and asked in a low voice when he saw the silver thermos, “Aunt Chen made you soup?”
Qiao Nian had already regained her senses. Seeing that he was sizing up the thermos, she replied as she walked forward, “She was worried that I wouldn’t be able to eat well in the hotel. Before I left, she insisted on filling a portion of pork ribs soup for me to drink before I went to bed tonight.”

Ye Wangchuan placed the thermos on the dining room table and took the mineral water from her. The cold water reduced the moist heat in his palm.
He raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at the girl. “They came to look for you when they arrived, but they went out to eat when they realized you weren’t here.”
“To eat?” Qiao Nian couldn’t unscrew the cap with one hand and stared at the mineral water in frustration. She still wasn’t used to not being able to use one hand. “You didn’t go with them?”
“I’m not hungry.”
Ye Wangchuan saw it and snatched the mineral water from her, then handed it back to her after unscrewing the cap.
Qiao Nian took the water from his hand and said politely, “Thank you.”
She tipped her head back and was just about to take a sip of water.

Qiao Nian choked on a mouthful of water and coughed violently.
“Drink slowly.” Ye Wangchuan had only wanted to ask her, but he didn’t expect her to have such a big reaction. His expression changed and he immediately walked over. He patted her back to calm her down, his actions very gentle.
