ImOS – Chapter 91: Too Shameless

After Ouyang Xue took over from the original coach, JAY’s daily training tasks seemed to have gone onto a proper path .

Xiao Ran didn’t fire the original coach . After having a discussion with Director Chou, the original coach went to coach the second-string roster and also to develop the potential reserve players .

There was nothing that could be done as skills determined everything .

In comparison and in terms of a position as a coach, Ouyang Xue was truly much too superior to the original coach .

She was completely ahead by several streets .

Before this, the original coach was actually doing a rather good job, but it was merely because of some tactical awareness that he had developed while he was playing as a professional player previously .

As compared to professional coaches, there was still a very huge gap .

But the facts had proven that in terms of team victory, the functionality of the original coach wasn’t as significant as Xiao Ran .

However, Xiao Ran wasn’t a great candidate for the coaching position either .

JAY might have won all three matches during week 8 and pulled down both the 2nd ranked YM and 3rd ranked WYD .

However, Xiao Ran had made use of dirty strategies and his cheat-like reminders to prevent his teammates from getting crushed . He then made use of the early-game lead to create a snowball effect .

If the early-game strategy had failed, or if the opposition had great skills, or if they didn’t manage to trick the others, or if his teammates were crushed, no matter how good Xiao Ran was, it was impossible to win .

This was a five-man game after all and the era of 1v5 was already no longer possible .

Furthermore, when Xiao Ran took the coaching role during daily practice, he wasn’t very patient either . Basically, he would be nagging and giving some opinions of his teammates’ mechanics .

To be honest, there was basically no team developmental guidance .

After two days of observation, Ouyang Xue’s evaluation of the team: For JAY to actually win against WYD and YM with such chaotic guidance, it was truly a miracle .

Finally, Ouyang Xue had even given a summary of the matches .

In short, it was Xiao Ran leading everyone to gank in the early-game and building the advantage while the snowball continued to grow larger, resulting in the victories of those matches .

But such a risky style of play would result in eternal damnation if it failed .

When Ouyang Xue gave her conclusion, Xiao Ran was rolling his eyes repeatedly .

What do you know? It might seem risky in your opinions, but in my opinion, there is a 90% chance of success okay?!

However, the only thing that Xiao Ran agreed was the mediocre skills of JAY’s Top-laner, Mid-laner, and Jungler . If they didn’t improve their skills and encountered very skillful teams, they would surely be crushed by the opposition .

Even if Xiao Ran’s strategies worked in the early-game, it was hard for the snowballing effect to be effective .

For example, if JAY’s members encountered SKT .

During the early-game, Xiao Ran’s strategy worked and he might have taken one or two kills . But the opposition were able to prevent any further loss . Faker would be able to repeatedly take solo kills on JAY’s Mid-laner, while SKT’s Top-laner would be able to put pressure on CS and take solo kills too .

There was also the bad team composition, and team fights that were lacking in teamwork as compared to others .

The final result would definitely be the utter defeat for JAY .

This was where the importance of a great coach played a part .

After a few days of training, Xiao Ran could obviously feel that since Ouyang Xue took the role as coach, JAY’s members had a qualitative transformation and improvement .

This made Xiao Ran extremely happy .

He had truly picked up a good asset .

Ouyang Xue was also very serious and responsible in her work .

Even when the team was doing their daily ranked matches, Ouyang Xue would be recording the matches .

During the game, Ouyang Xue wouldn’t say too much and would only watch quietly .

After the ranked matches, she would bring out the newly recorded matches and do a review .

She would then playback the recordings and point out all of the problems of each member during the matches .

The listed problems would be from the laning phase, team fights, and to various details . None of them were left out .

“Take a look at this match, the opposing Jayce is very dominant and holds the advantage in lane . But look at you? You are playing Poppy and you actually want to exchange health? Do you think you can do it? You are simply wasting a third of your health for nothing . ”

“Jungler isn’t doing well either . You are using Warwick and shouldn’t be in such a hurry to roam around in the early-game phase . Before level 6, Warwick’s ganking capability was close to 0 . If you just recklessly gank, you will just let the opponents see your position . They can make use of your position to decide if they can push the lane or to gank other lanes . ”

“Aurelion Sol must make use of your high mobility to assist other lanes during the early-game phase . Take a look at yourself, you are just sticking onto your lane . Is there a point in using Aurelion Sol like this?”

“Do you see this team fight? The opposition’s Top-laner is already using Teleport to offer assistance and what are you doing? You are three seconds later than the opposing Top-laner!!”

“Bot-lane might have the advantage, but the vision is rather weak . The reason for being weak isn’t on Xiaofan, it is on you…”

“Xiao Ran!!! Where are you looking at uh? The greatest problem is you!!! When have you used your Warding Totem correctly before? You are always planting it in some random place . Also, when have you ever bought Vision Wards?”

“You might be an ADC, but the wards aren’t just planted for you, it is for the entire team, do you understand!!!”

“Yea . ”

Xiao Ran always gave the same answer but he never changed…

Apart from Xiao Ran, members from the entire JAY Team were nodding repeatedly and were utterly convinced and were actually getting increasingly concentrated .

Ouyang Xue was most angry at Xiao Ran who was also the only person that made her angry .

However, Ouyang Xue couldn’t do anything .

Because, whenever the bot-lane was in danger, Xiao Ran would manage to avoid it .

What should she say about this feeling?

Ouyang Xue pondered so much until her head nearly broke and only came up with one explanation: Xiao Ran’s sixth sense was very sharp and he was able to smell danger…

As such, Ouyang Xue couldn’t do anything to him for now . She could only wait for the moment he made a mistake and for her to give him a harsh lesson .

Apart from such overall analysis, Ouyang Xue would also focus on each member of the team, offering suggestions and opinions for each position .

Top-laner, Jungler, Support, Mid-laner…

Once again, Ouyang Xue demonstrated her astonishingly broad and extensive knowledge and experience .

Every statement she had for every position would almost hit the nail in an instant .

Each of her suggestions would be extremely practical and effective .

JAY’s members merely had to ponder slightly and would immediately realize that Ouyang Xue’s suggestions and opinions were absolutely correct . They would then immediately test it and start to alter their playstyles .

Under the coaching from Ouyang Xue, the effects of JAY’s daily training seemed to be getting better with each day and they were starting to form a momentum .

There was only one element that wasn’t harmonious… and it was on Xiao Ran .

“Eh? Why?” Xiao Ran looked at Ouyang Xue with bewilderment .

Ouyang Xue glared at Xiao Ran . “What do you mean by why? During your earlier ranked match, you shouldn’t have dove the turret at the 8 minute mark . You should have simply forced the opposing ADC to use both the summoner spells and for him to recall back to base . ”

Xiao Ran spoke boldly and confidently, “But I killed him . I got the kill and I didn’t just make him lose the gold from CS, I even got myself 300 gold!”

Ouyang Xue said, “That is just luck . What if the opposition’s Jungler was nearby? You had to use Flash after diving the turret and taking the kill right? Your health isn’t even more than 50 . If the opposing Jungler is to come to bot-lane, a single normal attack would be enough to end you . ”

Xiao Ran slapped his chest and said, “The opposing Jungler is definitely not at bot-lane!”

Ouyang Xue squinted her eyes and said, “The opposing Jungler didn’t show himself for the entire time, how do you know if he isn’t at the bot-lane?”

Xiao Ran was startled and pondered for a moment: I can’t possibly say that I have cheats right?

Xiao Ran didn’t have a choice but to stiffen his neck and answered, “I just know!”

“Based on what?!”

“Based on my instincts!”

Ouyang Xue rubbed her headache .

Xiao Ran would give this answer every time, but his so-called ‘instincts’ were always right . This had made Ouyang Xue feel a deep helplessness .

Ultimately, Ouyang Xue compromised . “Forget it, just remember not to take the risk in such situations next time . You just have to force the two summoner spells from the opposition . Don’t take the risk and dive the turret, okay?”

Xiao Ran rubbed his chin and considered before shaking his head seriously . “I still feel that it is more worth it to get the kill!”

Ouyang Xue took a deep breath and tilted her head . She then revealed a friendly smile and said, “Mm, I didn’t hear you clearly . Can you repeat that again?”

Once she asked, the other JAY’s members had all felt a cold chill down their spines .

When Ouyang Xue took the role as an analyst in Korea, she had also learned Taekwondo .

Black belt!

Each of the JAY’s members had tasted that torturous sensation .

But Xiao Ran was still continuing on his own way .

In the eyes of others, Xiao Ran simply had to seek death for once or twice a day before he was satisfied . He was simply a damn masochist!

After speaking, Xiao Ran felt a flow of cold air that enveloped his body .

He sneaked a glance at Ouyang Xue .

After seeing her signature smile…

Xiao Ran immediately recalled that he still had a bruise on his lower leg and quickly changed his tone . “Mm, I feel that you are absolutely correct . It is indeed risky when we aren’t sure where the Jungler is . Coach, I remember now and I will not do such a risky thing again . ”

The tone and the expression was VERY sincere .

Even the obedient Wu Xiaofan felt like giving Xiao Ran a statement…

Too god damn shameless!
