Chapter 122

n the dining room, the boys were again holding their heads up . They tried to declare that they were going to fight like men with gusto, but no one had any idea what they were doing .

“Damn, I’m chock-full of points again,”

“What the hell is Zelius doing here? I’m already back from my parents’ house . ”

Zelius, first place in the north quarters, had already returned, but his scores hadn’t increased much . On the contrary, Heath’s scores were growing again and closing the gap .

Whether it was the scoring points by intimidation or by nostalgia, the boys didn’t know . Their lamenting has become frustration with Zelius, who is no longer the only one who can compete with Heath . It’s not manly… .

“Ah, you’re good, Gormus . You’re the only one who hasn’t even been surveyed for a room . ”

Gormus, who took a relatively neutral position in this turmoil, easily avoided Heath’s offensive . Since they are good friends to begin with, they are also very good at dealing with each other .

“No, I’ve been investigated myself . ”

“What?”

“Kooine came alone and stood in front of the room with teary eyes, you know . I let him in, and he went back to check a few things out . ”

“I see…”

In the midst of all this, Ius was quietly eating his lunch .

(We already know why Zelius’s scores have been so poor . It’s group guidance . That guy is the type who increases his scores by witnessing manly behavior around him . That’s why Heath always placed himself or Kooine in the corridor leading to the location of Zelius, cutting off the flow of people coming into contact with Zelius .

Now that he’s avoiding contact with everyone as a prefect, that’s easy to do . If the number of sightings decreases, Zelius’ score will be sluggish . )

“Shit, I couldn’t even get a book from the library . I’m at his mercy . What’s going on?”

Lutus, who had been complaining and eating across the street, was surprised to see Ius suddenly standing up .

”I’m going to play…’

“Competition?”

“Yeah, he’s going to surpass Zelius’ score before the last day . It’s too late to expose the defects before that happens . I’m going to expose him now . Then, everything will be okay . ”

“Oh, hey . But, the evidence…”

Before Lutus could try to stop him, Ius headed towards Heath, who was eating his lunch .

As if he knew this, Heath turned to Ius without any sign of surprise .

“What’s wrong? Ius-kun?”

Her smile was as pretty as a girl’s, yet her blue eyes were filled with a cold light .

“Heath . I have suspicions against you . A system called Prefect that you took out of the dormitory rules and took office, and I have seniors testimony that it was abolished nine years ago . ”

The dining room buzzed at those words .

“I think I’m misremembering that . It’s right here . ”

However, Heath didn’t seem to be upset at all, and lifted the book that he’d always carried around with him since he’d taken over as Prefect with his hand .

“Yeah, so let me check it out . I don’t know if the contents of that dormitory rule book have been replaced with one that’s from nine years ago . ”

The air in the dining room quickly changed to a tense one . The exchange between the two of them attracted the gazes of the apprentice knights . Heath’s eyes narrowed .

“This is something I borrowed from the library, you know . I don’t want to lend it to people too much . ”

“I knew it…!”

Ius is convinced of his suspicion and tried to pursue it further with words . This is the only way . By confronting his suspicion directly in this place where everyone is looking at him and spreading the suspicion, he is forced to have the book checked . The evidence is the very book he has .

He doesn’t know if they can successfully put the well-spoken Heath in that situation . Since they couldn’t secure the book, it’s the only way . But, what Heath said next was completely unexpected .

“But, I don’t mind,”

Ius is puzzled . Checking the book would have revealed Heath’s dishonesty . So, getting him to accept it was the hardest part . At worst, he thought he could just poke at Heath’s suspiciousness, spreading distrust to everyone and reducing the power of the Prefect .

Yet, Heath readily agreed to it .

“However, I want fewer people to have access to the book . We don’t want it to be torn up or anything . I don’t want anyone else to touch it, except for the people I’ve designated . And, I’d like to see a price to be paid for that . ”

“What’s the cost…?”

“If not, I’ll take all your manhood points . Not just the votes, but all the points you’ve voted for and transferred . ”

Ius was confused when he got approved, but he was convinced by his words .

(It’s a bluff…!)

He’s trying to get us to draw by making us risk losing points . Ius nodded instantly to the terms .

“All right . I will bet all 582 points of my manhood . ”

Heath hesitated when he heard that .

“Hmmm, that’s a bit low . ”

Ius is completely convinced . It was still a bad idea to have the book checked .

“Lutus!”

Ius turned back to Lutus, and Lutus immediately smiled and nodded at him .

”All right, buddy! I’ll bet you all the 320 points I have for voting, too!”

“All 902 points . I’ll take that . ”

Heath nodded at that . No, he was probably forced to nod . He’d already come this far .

“Well, can I ask Rubin to be the one to check . It has to be an unrelated third party, or they might manipulate you . ”

Heath designates a person to check the books . That was exactly what Ius expected him to do . And, a bit deliberate .

(I knew he was in a hurry!)

Perhaps Rubin is one of the acquired . Probably one of the five .

“Then,” Ius told him in no uncertain terms,

“it’s possible that you’re the one who’s cheating . ”

“No, that would make you more likely to cheat . It has come to light that you’ve paid off some of the northern quarters . So, I’d like to have another person to check . With two of us, the injustice will be almost impossible to work with . ”

“Okay . ”

There was a short pause, then he agreed .

“Lutus, please . ”

Obviously, Ius chose Lutus .

Author’s Note: I’m sorry for showing up in the postscript .

I’ve decided to move my work to the fantasy genre . I learned from someone that according to the rules of Narrowcast, if more than 90% of a story has romance in it, it falls under the romance genre . I’m sorry for my ignorance! Thank you for the transition, the encouragement, etc . , and the various opinions . I’m sorry for all the fuss I’ve caused about the genre .

For those of you who started reading because of the romance genre, my sincere apologies! However, the goal of this work is to draw a romance between the characters in the end .

Also, I haven’t been able to reply to any of the comments at all, but I’m hoping to reply to the comments at the end of the episode (when the title changes), and I’ll be able to do everything else occasionally… . I’m thinking of adding an end-of-episode marker at the end of an episode… .

I haven’t been able to reply to most of them but thank you for your thoughts on this one!

(TLNote: Felt that this was a good A/N amongst the past so yeah anticipate the ending people!)
