She hid by the stone gate while looking at the crowd in front of her, she felt absolutely disgusted. This crowd was so noisy and looked so happy. Why?

“Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and see this musical fountain show.”

She didn’t know if there were hidden lawn speakers or someone using a loudspeaker, but it was loud enough to be clearly heard across the entire park. Following the announcement, there was a gorgeous (funny) fountain show. A large column of water shot out of the lake that seemed to be the signal for the start of the performance.

She raised her head a little higher and picked up on the excitement of the crowd, as she realized that this might have been the first time she had ever seen a fountain show.

The music from the many sized fountains filled the entire park with sound, whilst being lit up by multicolored LED lighting, that danced along with the rhythm of the music

Slowly she crept out from the shadow of the stone gate, and slipped through the crowd until she ran up against a fence surrounding the lake. She stood there holding on to the fence enraptured by the water and light show. Somehow, the park packed with people didn't seem quite as crowded as she had thought.

What she didn’t know, was that the reason it didn’t feel quite so crowded, was because cute little girls were treated special when they slipped through crowds.

The first song ended, followed immediately up by another song, only, the style of the music had changed.

Excited by the music and light show at first, Hitomi quickly began to lose interest. Letting go of the fence, she turned to go back to her original position by the stone gate. This kind of event made for a short-lived happiness. In the depths of her mind, she still believed that she should live hidden in the shadows.

This seemed to be how Hitomi thought. Constantly belittling herself and denying her own existence. Even though she had become such a lovely little girl, the mindset inhabiting it had not changed. Just like when she lived with Hua Wei, Hitomi acted as if she had no will of her own. It’s a funny thing when a person told themselves that they had changed, when in reality, nothing in their lonely, sterile life, had actually changed.

Hitomi’s mind was quite often split by competitive desires. She was afraid of the crowd, yet she didn’t want to endure her loneliness.

Hidden in the shadows beside the stone gate, stood a beautiful silvery-white haired loli wearing a black gothic dress. Her blue and red, heterochromatic eyes seemed extraordinarily cold and deadly. The grief shown in her expression was completely out of place with the laughter and joy shown by people in front of her. Seemingly separated by only a few feet of distance, but in actuality, separated by an impassible moat.

She felt empty, although the feeling was almost impossible for her to express. She seemed to be lost again, on the road of life.

She had thought she would just gain a very strong superpower and become a beautiful girl that no longer had to endure a monotonous and painful existence. It turned out nothing had changed for her.

[Ha] [Ha]  (Hitomi)

She derisively laughed at herself. She didn’t need to eat or sleep, and her parents were both gone somewhere. Where could she go? What could such a cowardly girl do on her own?

Why did she suddenly feel even worse than before?

No matter where you went, just wandering slowly like she had always done before, she thought to herself.

“Little sister, are you here to see the fountain by yourself?”

Just as she was thinking about what to do in the future, a pleasant male voice came from her right side, the same direction as the hot springs.

“Yes, I’m here alone.” (Hitomi)

I turned my head and looked at him while answering. He had dark hair and dark eyes and seemed as if he was high school student.

“Are you trying to pick me up? Although, what I’m more curious about is, how did you notice me?” (Hitomi)

“How is it difficult to spot a cute girl dressed in a gothic lolita cosplay outfit, hiding in the shadows of the gate in the middle of the night, trying her best to go unnoticed?”

He said while he spread out his hands as if helpless and smiled. Somehow, I felt as if he was very gentle. He didn’t seem like a bad person, right?

“Are all of these people here to see the fountain show?” (Hitomi)

She asked casually pointing at the crowd with her left hand.

“Yes, after all, these fountain shows aren’t held every day.”

I looked at his slightly melancholy expression and suddenly felt short of breath.

“Then why did you come to talk with me instead of watching the fountain show?” (Hitomi)

“Because you are far more beautiful than a fountain show.”

“Eh?” (Hitomi)

Stop teasing me! I, I, I’m a boy! Even if you gave me flowers, it wouldn’t make me happy! Okay, okay. That’s a lie.

“Hey…” (Hitomi)

I said and shook my head when I was finally able to stop all of the random thoughts bouncing around in my mind.

“I’m not kidding. A girl who seems to have come from the second dimension is truly a wonder.”

I had no idea how to respond to something like that, so I said nothing.

Honestly, I wasn't angry. I just didn’t know how to deal with it. How should I say it? I knew how to deal with arrogant people or being cussed at, but I was at a loss when it came to dealing with such a kind and serious person.

I stared at him for a long time. Somehow, I broke myself out of my reverie and made a rather bold, yet embarrassing, decision.

“Hey, could I stay at your house?” (Hitomi)

“Eh?!?!?!?!?”
