Chapter 53 – Meeting the parents
“Sure, why not?” Gao Yu Lan really wanted to poke her chopsticks into Qi Na’s nostrils .
“Good… . ” Qi Na felt very satisfied with Gao Yu Lan for accepting her battle challenge . “Tell Chen Ruo Yu to come as well . It has been a long time since I’ve seen her . ” After she finished speaking, she twisted her waist and walked away .

“Who is your wife?” She blushed and added more food into his bowl . Yin Ze then bumped his shoulder against her and glanced at her . “Wife, this Spring Festival I’ll bring my Elder Sister and Niu Niu back here to celebrate New Year since we are one family . Then I’ll accompany you to that old classmates gathering……such a fun occasion mustn’t leave me out . ”
“You still want to come for Spring Festival?”
“Of course! I haven’t enjoyed the warmth of a large family for many years . It’s sad when you don’t get to celebrate New Year with Mom and Dad . Let me come and I’ll bring all my family members so we can have a joyful, lively New Year . ”
Gao Yu Lan bit on her chopsticks and thought about it . “This……we’ll talk about this after you’ve successfully cross today’s obstacle at my house . ”

Yin Ze felt a bit nervous . Not to mention this is the first time in his life he is meeting his girlfriend’s parents but even with his own parents, he had not seen them for many years . (Shi denotes that the person is a family member or clan member . So here GYL is referred to as a woman married into the Yin Family with the husband’s surname in first place followed by the wife’s surname . )
His accentuated speech made Gao Yu Lan punch him . “Acting again!”
Miss Gao kept scolding but finally agreed to his Lordship, Mr . Yin’s suggestion to buy a lot of fruits and supplements as gifts . They also bought tea for Gao Father and red wine for Gao Mother . Finally, the two people carried several big and small bags home .
When they reached home, they found both Gao Father and Gao Mother at home . Gao Yu Lan asked in surprise . “Dad, don’t you have to work today?”
“Your father took leave today . ” Gao Mother ushered them into the house and Gao Father was sitting on the sofa with an unhappy expression . Gao Mother whispered . “When you suddenly disappeared and didn’t bring anything with you, he thought the aliens had come . ”
Gao Yu Lan almost laughed out loud . By her side, Yin Ze had put down all the things in his hands and he poked her . Gao Yu Lan quickly said . “Dad, Mom, this is my boyfriend, Yin Ze . ”
“Uncle, Aunt, how are you?… . . My name is Yin Ze . ” Chef Yin felt nervous and ill at ease . Following Gao Mother’s indication, he sat upright and proper in his seat with a serious look which made Gao Yu Lan laughed out .
Yin Ze and Gao Father simultaneously turned their heads and glared at Gao Yu Lan . She quickly hid behind Gao Mother and both women sat down on the sofa to listen to their conversation .
“Boy, where are you from?”
“I’m from city . ” Yin Ze was extremely well behaved .
“Why did you come?” Usually, Gao Father is a very good man but now in this situation, automatically he had adopted a domineering and arrogant manner .

Yin Ze looked at Gao Yu Lan and then finally decided to tell the truth . “I miss Lan Lan, so I came . ”
Gao Yu Lan blushed, put her arms around Gao Mother but did not speak and her eyes were trained on Yin Ze . “Dad!” Gao Yu Lan shouted . This is too unruly!
Yin Ze sat up straight on the sofa . He glanced at Gao Yu Lan and saw the fierce look on her face with an expression that said – – Don’t you dare to talk nonsense!
Yin Ze thought and thought, and then finally replied . “We’ve reached the stage where we can discuss marriage . Dad, can I be your son-in-law?”
In fact, Gao Father had already prepared himself to teach Yin Ze a lesson but when he saw the intimate glances and expressions the two children exchanged, he was certain that whatever they should not do, have all been done .
It seems the joyous event is already set and there is also a possibility that he will be a father-in-law soon . Whatever happens, he still has to show his authority over this young man so that this young man will not think his daughter can be given away so easily . What will happen if he cannot dominate this young man?
Gao Father had not expected this young man to be so cunning, ah…… This young man even called him ‘Dad’ and also asked whether he can be his son-in-law…… . how shall he answer? He cannot refuse because his whole family will hate him……but if he agrees, then he will lose all his imposing manner…… . .

Gao Father and Gao Mother’s faces were full of black lines .

Meanwhile, in the living room, Gao Father was not idle and whispered to Gao Mother . “Wife, what is your opinion of this Yin Ze?”
(Huang Calendar is the Chinese traditional calendar named after Emperor Huang Ti who introduced this calendar during his reign and it is still in use today . This calendar shows auspicious days and time for weddings, funerals, moving houses, repair works, demolition works, and a whole lot of other events . )
“Very good, very spirited, a very handsome young man and also very polite . ” Gao Mother expressed her satisfaction .
“Who knows if he is just acting in front of us?” Gao Father muttered . “You mustn’t be mesmerized by his high-spirits and handsome looks only . ”
“Okay, okay . ” Gao Mother smiled as she answered and on the surface, she looked as if she accepted his teachings .
Gao Father sat and waited . After a while, he could not sit still any longer and ask . “What do you think they’re doing in the room? Shall I call them out?” Gao Mother did not even have time to object and Gao Father had jumped to his feet while muttering to himself . “Yes, it’s time to call them out!”
In the room, Yin Ze was making Gao Yu Lan laugh . He bit her nose and was about to lower his head to kiss her when suddenly there was a loud knocking sound on the door . Gao Father’s loud voice could be heard . “Lan Lan, both of you come out!”
Gao Father’s sudden knocking startled Gao Yu Lan and she jumped up with fright . This jump made her head knock against his mouth and he yelled “Ah!” Then he clutched his mouth in pain and looked indignantly at the door .
Gao Yu Lan hurriedly pushed away his hand to take a look and saw his skin had broken and bleeding . With her heart aching, Miss Bao Zi pulled Mr . Yin Ze quickly out of her room and called out to her mother to get the medical box and cotton swabs . The pair of mother and daughter felt that it was Gao Father’s fault . They rolled their eyes and the two pairs of eyes shot over at him across the room like daggers .

Yin Ze also wanted to do the same but he did not forget the purpose of this trip . So he continued to pretend to be good and so when Gao Yu Lan cleaned him with the cotton swabs, he pretended to be strong . It looked really painful but he continued to say it did not hurt, it was nothing which completely won over Gao Mother .
Gao Mother glared hard at Gao Father which made him quiet down and he sat back on the sofa to drink his water diligently .
After that, the Gao Family was in a harmonious state . Gao Father was eventually conquered by Yin Ze when they were looking through the family photos . Yin Ze praised Gao Yu Lan when he saw her photos showing her as a child and exaggeratedly praised Gao Mother for having a good temperament . He also said that Gao Father and Gao Mother were a perfect match and had the matching-couple look which showed they were destined for each other . He also said that Gao Yu Lan was really lovely and cute as a child and with such a daughter, it was the envy of everyone .
Gao Yu Lan propped up her chin and listened to Yin Ze talked . In her heart, she felt it is ridiculous . It is obvious that her parents look different from each other, so how can he say they have a matching-couple look? As a child, she was an ugly duckling, so what features on her did he find beautiful and lovely?
However, these words actually made Gao Father very happy and he agreed by nodding his head with vigor . Gao Yu Lan pursed her lips but she did not expect Yin Ze’s killing move came at the end . He actually said . “Lan Lan’s genes are so good that our babies must be very cute too . Dad, when the time comes, we’ll give birth to two babies and let you casually play with them . ”
The hand that was propping up Gao Yu Lan’s head slipped and she nearly fell .
Does he think that having children is like buying vegetables at the market? And also let the old folks casually play with them?
