Chapter 14 The Icy Snake
Nie Tian knew it that Mo Ruxi was cold in appearance but a sheer tender girl at heart. Still, she was capricious sometimes.
The two headed towards the Ripcloud Mountain, accompanied by the screams of Mo Ruxi.
The Ripcloud Mountain was lying on the continuous mountain ranges on the northern Moyang City.
Among the mountain ranges, there clustered the thistles and thorns, haunted the monsters and prevailed the dangers.
In a general case, people of Moyang City would not rather go into the Ripcloud Mountain. Most of those who made a living on the Ripcloud Mountain were out-of-town monster hunters and mercenaries.
As there were innumerable precious herbs and medicines as well as spirit monsters. Some desperadoes were quite into such a place.
Moyang City was not far away from the Ripcloud Mountain. In half an hour, Nie Tian and Mo Ruxi could see the Ripcloud Mountain from the distance.
Nie Tian had no intention to go deep into the mountain. His cultivation was too low to run the risk.
"Ripcloud Mountain, here I am again." Some weirdness was stirred in the eyes of Nie Tian since he entered the mountain.
Three years ago, his father and his clans were murdered here in the Ripcloud Mountain and his own cultivation was disabled by the same group of men in black.
Nie Tian was not grieved but infuriated by the heartbreaking place.
"Nie Tian, since we have integrated, your revenge on behalf of your father and clans shall be mine, too. Whoever those men in black, there is a nightmare in store for them." Nie Tian sworn to himself at the moment.
Nie Tian, possessing the memories of the two lives, could still recall the scene his father got killed.
Whoever those men in black were, they were bound to be buried by the anger of revenge.
"Nie Tian, are you alright?" Mo Ruxi asked timidly at the sight of the cold eyes of Nie Tian.
"I'm fine." Nie Tian put on a gentle smile, as if normal again.
He made a few steps forward and suddenly frowned.
Nie Tian turned around, casting his eyes to a canyon not afar.
"It's the Icy Grass." There drifted in faint coldness from the canyon a few hundred yards away. Nie Tian quickly decided the scent belonged to the Icy Grass, curling his mouth to give a smile.
The Icy Grass was a level-one herb, cold in property and suitable to be a primer to awaken the Phoenix in the Ninth Heaven.
As the Phoenix in the Ninth Heaven had the attribute of an incandescent flame, the awakening of it required something that was cold.
The Icy Grass made the perfect primer. Still, it was far from enough.
"It looks that we really got the luck. Follow me." Nie Tian walked towards the canyon, laughing.
The first entry into the Ripcloud Mountain for Mo Ruxi made her inevitably nervous, who were now following closely Nie Tian.
"It's so cold." When they approached the canyon, Mo Ruxi felt the coldness running through her body and exclaimed.
Such coldness was unbearable for normal people but was a timely gift for Mo Ruxi.
She felt that her body was now rife with the refreshing coldness which placated the burning pain in her underbelly.
"Watch out." All of a sudden, Nie Tian screamed out, grabbed the hand of Mo Ruxi and pulled back quickly.
"Hiss."Next moment was a white snake, ten meters long, seen springing out before Nie Tian and Mo Ruxi.
"That was close." Nie Tian took a deep breath. A second late could have the two caught in the mouth of the white snake.
The white snake extended its body length to ten meters or so. It was snowy white in the body, as if covered with crystal scales, and triangular in the head, blackish yellow in the two eyes, giving away suffocating coldness.
"Nie Tian." It was the first time for Mo Ruxi to see such a spirit monster. She could not help looking at Nie Tian.
"It is just my day. We got the level-one spirit monster, the Icy Snake. It looks like the canyon was its den." Nie Tian was not flurried and satisfied.
The Icy Snake was a level-one spirit monster that had the attribute of the cold ice. The spirit core of it could be used as a primer for the awakening of the Phoenix in the Ninth Heaven.
With the Icy Grass and the spirit core of the Icy Snake, Nie Tian could basically awaken the Phoenix in the Ninth Heaven.
"Level-one spirit monster." On the one hand, Nie Tian was quite happy with his findings; on the other hand, Mo Ruxi was frightened and paled to know that the Icy Snake was a level-one spirit monster.
Level-one spirit monster, was quite weak and similar to a Kung Fu learner at the realm of Vital Veins.
Still, Mo Ruxi was nervous because she had never been engaged with a fight against the spirit monster.
She caught a glimpse of Nie Tian and became even more annoyed.
Was Nie Tian a psycho to laugh at this critical moment?
"Mo Ruxi, I'll leave the worm to you. As the Phoenix Seal in your body was inherently able to neutralize the Icy Snake. You don't have to panic and you can finish it if you want."Nie Tian made a few steps backward when Mo Ruxi had a mixture of doubt and annoyance. She was now confronted with the Icy Snake alone.
"Nie Tian, you..." Mo Ruxi was frustrated and furious. But the Icy Snake had its eyes on her.
Nie Tian was just watching, with no intention to render help.
Nie Tian had a reason in doing so.
Mo Ruxi's cultivation ranked the ninth level of vital veins, whose power was far stronger than the Icy Snake. It had no favourable odds if she would not let.
Still, that was not the point. The point was he could see that Mo Ruxi was obsessed with cultivation and had no practical confrontations. She only maneuvered some moves against the guardians of the Magistrate's Mansion.
But that was quite different from a real combat.
Nie Tian created the chance to sharpen Mo Ruxi in terms of combating.
The fight between two Kung Fu learners depended primarily the strength, and secondly the experience.
The experience might look negligible but it would play a decisive role in a critical moment.
Of course, Nie Tian did not offer to help because it was not appropriate.
He had to exercise the power of the vital veins to combat the snake, which would aggravate the poison of the Soul-Encroaching Flower.
And a spirit monster like the Icy Snake was not worthy of a shot.
Mo Ruxi, now a prey to the Icy Snake, had no choice but make the preparation for the battle of death.
But weirdly, the Icy Snake kept wary eyes of her, or dreadful. It did not launch an attack.
"Is it afraid of me?" There was a pleasant surprise in her beautiful eyes.
Nie Tian reminded her, "Don't loosen up. Level-one spirit monsters have low IQs but they are very sly. They will sometimes try to pretend that they are not equivalent to their enemies and make the deadly strike when their enemies lift the alarm."
Nie Tian shook his head as he spoke.
It was so simple-minded of Mo Ruxi to be fooled by an Icy Snake.
He could see it clearly that the Icy Snake was about to launch a deadly attack.
"Nie Tian, it's okay that you don't help me. But you are scaring me now? A level-one spirit monster can't be such sophisticated." Mo Ruxi thought Nie Tian was playing tricks on her. She yelled with dissatisfaction.
"Alas, young and naive." Nie Tian gave a gentle sigh and was ready to offer help.
As expected, the Icy Snake attacked with a startle the moment Nie Tian finished his words.
"Whoosh." The triangular head whizzed like an arrow. The mouth opened to its 180 degrees, revealing its white teeth and ready to swallow Mo Ruxi.
At this moment of life and death, Mo Ruxi was very calm. She exercise power in her feet and jumped back a few yards.
But the Icy Snake was very quick indeed. It could almost grab a bite of her feet.
"Boom." There came a sound at the dangerous moment. The head of the Icy Snake took the violent hit, tilting and falling onto the ground.
