Chapter 1 - The angel in front of the station

Even on weekdays, the front of the station downtown was crowded with numerous people.

The salaryman who was rushing somewhere, the housewife in the middle of shopping, the part-time woman that was distributing tissues, and the man that was trying to seduce that woman.
Each one of them, they wouldn’t be a person that would remain in your memory even if they entered your vision.

However, on that day, at at time, everyone who was in the surroundings wouldn’t forget that person in their lifetime.
Or maybe they thought it was a daydream, an illusion.

If you were to express that person in words, everyone would say ‘angel’.

Straight, blonde hair that stretched to her waist.
White skin everywhere.
The pure white tunic that wrapped their body emphasized a mysterious atmosphere.
……Although it was an outfit which made the outline of her body hard to appear, it appeared that her chest was nonexistent.
However, everyone had a blank facial expression and was fascinated to the extent of not caring about such a think.
Men, of course, and also women.

The girl, she looked at the surroundings like she was searching for something……and casually called out to the salary worker who was nearby.

“Um……” (Angel-chan)

“Ai cannoto speaku engrishu!” (Salary man)¹

The salary man raised his voice and ran away.
No, even the other people who were in the vicinity had similar reactions.
The pedestrians ran away, and the clerks withdrew into the interior of their stores.

That, it was a scene that resembled the morning program of long ago.

Only the angel who was standing dumbfounded was left……

“No, I, I said ‘that’ in Japanese just now, right?” (Angel-chan)

The angel……Mary muttered in a daze.

She understood the reason they ran away for somehow or other.
Japanese people were generally afraid of being talked to by a foreigner. ……It seemed.
People whose strong point wasn’t foreign languages had a tendency to act like that, and a great majority of Japanese people felt that foreign languages were inconvenient.
Therefore, Mary had talked to him in Japanese……but the result was this state.

The acquaintances of Japanese people through their families and Japanese husbands were as is.
As smooth communication was achieved with them, she had self confidence in her Japanese in itself, but it seemed that self confidence was collapsing.
Come to think of it, was her daughter speaking properly? She was worried.

Why she had come here today, it was for the admission procedure for her daughter.
Her daughter had done it・・・・・ nearly 10 years ago, and she was banned from coming here since then.
And, the pardon of her father-in-lawdaughter’s grandfather had come at last a few days ago.
Despite this, it was a pity that communication seemed to be inconvenient.

For now, Mary made a phone call to her sister-in-law.
As it seemed like the angel was tampering with the smartphone from an outsider’s perspective, there were no fragments of a feeling it was out of place.
……The reality also hadn’t changed so.

『Sister-in-law-san? What’s wrong?』(Sister-in-law)

She heard the voice of her sister-in-law after 3 rings.

“Hey, Saya, is my Japanese proper?” (Mary)

『Ha?』(Sister-in-law->Saya)

Mary conveyed the incident that happened some time ago to her sister-in-law.

『Kyahahahaha』(Saya)

There was a roar of laughter.

“Hey, I’m seriously worried!?” (Mary)

『Sorry sorry, I vividly remembered the corner of Wi◯kii-san……pupu』(Saya)

What sort of sister-in-law went as expected……it would be better to prepare to be touched for a little while.²

Originally, she was interested in who ‘Wiki-san’ was, but not to an extent to bother with asking.

“So, how is my Japanese?” (Mary)

『I think that it is proper. If you’re worried about it, wouldn’t it be fine if you asked the Japanese language teacher?』(Saya)

Now that she mentioned it, what she was going to after this was a school.
There would be at least one Japanese language teacher that would listen to her story.

“Oh well. I’ll try to ask it at the school.” (Mary)

『Or perhaps I should say, other than that sort of thing, please worry about Alicichan.』(Saya)

“Also worry about Alicia’s pronunciation?” (Mari)

Rather, she was worried about this person.

『That’s not it, it’s about her living in a house by herself. Even though we should be living together like before……although I also said that some time ago, Tatsuya might appear?』(Saya)

“Since he isn’t a child anymore, it’s fine. He has grown up. If it’s Takun, Alicia may be tempted instead.” (Mary)

『Japanese adults are 20 years old, right? And marriage is also from 18 years of age, right?』(Saya)

Although girls were from 16 years of age to be exact, Saya would just be talking from the standard of her son.

“Well, you are also able to raise children without marrying.” (Mary)

『It’s no good, this elf has to do something quickly.』(Saya)

Although she heard something rude, she wasn’t bothered.
As her self-confidence in her Japanese recovered while they talked about stupid stories for the time being, Mary repeated herself again and hung up.

……After hanging up, she remembered her excuse to visit this street and call out to the salaryman in the first place.
The look of downtown that was in her memories from when she had lived here formerly had changed, and she was a little lost.
It was fine even if she called back and navigated, but……

“Come to think of it, there was a map application, right?” (Mary)

It was a convenient world.
In accordance with the navigation of the smartphone, she went towards the school.

In an outsider’s perspective, it was an angel using a smartphone.
The reality, an elf was using a smartphone.
Mary Endou was 32 years old, was a very normal housewife, and had a daughter in highschool.
