Mo Liuxi was particularly averse to hearing that his love was common like everyone else’s. However, he had to admit that Mo Jin’s words did sound reasonable.
“Also, do the two of you already have a child?” Mo Jin gritted her teeth and continued, “I saw pictures of Yan Su’s child from your sister. She looked very much like you when you were young.”
“Yeah…” Mo Liuxi did not intend to keep it a secret any longer.
Mo Jin’s hand trembled while holding the phone. Although she had already guessed it, hearing the words from her son was still a huge blow, and she felt as if the sky had fallen on her.
Previously, she had thought it would be fortunate enough if someone was willing to accept her son. Now that there was even a granddaughter present, she was about to go crazy with happiness. “You rascal! How could you keep something so important from me for so long? How could you leave your daughter without a proper home? Now I understand why your girlfriend wanted to break up with you! You deserved it!”
Mo Liuxi’s face darkened. “I just found out about it recently too. In any case, it’s a little hard to explain. Additionally, I have to be upfront with you. The child will take Yan Su’s family name. Also, from the time Susu gave birth till now, it has been Susu’s parents who have been raising the child. So please don’t be with them for her.”
“Mo Liuxi, what the hell are you saying?!” Mo Jin felt as if she had just been doused with a bucket of cold water. “Am I not even allowed to acknowledge my granddaughter?”
“You may, of course, but you can’t force her to go back with you, and you mustn’t force her to change her family name,” Mo Liuxi declared firmly. “Yes, I’m the child’s father, but other than being a sperm donor, I’ve done way too little for the child. Please put yourself in my shoes. If my father suddenly wanted me to change my family name to Xu, how would you feel?”
Mo Jin was especially able to empathize with the situation. “Just what on earth did you do to the mother and daughter? How immature can you be? How did I even give birth to a son like you? Poor Su Yan. Did you scam her because she was too naive?”
Mo Liuxi rubbed his brows in consternation. How could his mother switch sides so quickly?
“Where does Su Yan live? Take me there now. I want to see Su Yan and my granddaughter,” Mo Jin ordered anxiously. “Come and pick me up now!”
Yan Su was on her way home when she received Mo Liuxi’s call. She did not have much of a choice. She could understand why Mo Jin was so eager to see her granddaughter, and after a moment’s consideration, she acquiesced.
They were going to have to meet each other sooner or later anyway.
She gave a call to Jiang Peiying at home. Jiang Peiying was silent for a moment, before asking, “She won’t take Yan Yan away, will she?”
“Of course not!” Yan Su reassured her gently. “His mother isn’t an unreasonable woman. The child should always be with the parents.”
Jiang Peiying sighed. “What you’re saying makes sense. If she can acknowledge her granddaughter, in the future, when Yan Yan is living with you, you won’t have to worry that no one will watch over her while you work. I just can’t bear to part from her.”
Yan Su laughed. “It’s not as if we’re giving Yan Yan away! If you miss her, just visit her anytime! We can always go over too. Traveling is so convenient now.”
“That’s true.”
When Yan Su arrived home, she prepared some fruit. Mo Jin and Mo Liuxi soon arrived afterward.
As the door opened, Jiang Peiying’s heart was thumping in her chest. She was not mentally prepared for this yet, and her husband was not here either. Nevertheless, she stepped forward and greeted, “Hello, I’m Susu’s mother.”
Mo Jin sized Jiang Peiying up. Given how elegantly Jiang Peiying was dressed, she could tell that she was from a literati family with one look. “I’m Liuxi’s mother. I should’ve visited you long ago, but every time I asked, he refused to tell me anything.”
