The two of them were tangled together beneath the sheets. Right before Mo Liuxi could get to the main course, Yan Su’s phone started ringing.
She reached out to pick up her phone but Mo Liuxi pressed down on her arms and wouldn’t let her. “Don’t answer, just let it ring.”
“No, maybe it’s something important,” Yan Su pushed against him forcefully. She managed to free her hands and crawled to where her phone was; the call was from Luosang.
Just as she was about to pick up, Mo Liuxi picked her up and dropped her back down on the bed relentlessly. “Yan Su, look at me now. How can you even think about picking up a phone call? You should be trying to put out the fire…”
“As if! It’s your sister!” Yan Su shot him a warning glare, “Shut up.”
She picked up the phone and asked, “Sangsang, what’s the matter?”
“I have something urgent to ask you.” Luosang said hurriedly, “Did you see the news this morning?”
“The news?” Yan Su felt anxious. She wondered if a reporter had taken a photo of her and Mo Liuxi. “What news?”
As she was talking on the phone, Mo Liuxi scooted over and nibbled on her eyes. It was her most sensitive area and she nearly dropped her phone.
“It’s Nuanyi,” Luosang said. “Nuanyi and Cheng Sheng are in the headlines.”
Yan Su sat upright, “What happened?”
“Don’t you know? I saw on the news that you all had supper together last night,” Luosang said worriedly. “Anyway, someone snapped a photo of Nuanyi and Cheng Sheng entering a hotel room together after the supper.” She sighed before continuing, “Brother Xiao is furious after reading the news. She’s not answering her phone either. I just wanted to ask you if you have any news.”
“Um… I’m not sure about that — I had a bit too much to drink. But when we left last night, Nuanyi was quite tipsy, so Cheng Sheng and her assistant helped her into her car. I’m not sure what happened after that. The reporters might just be pulling things out of context. Her assistant must have been there all along too,” Yan Su frowned while explaining. “I didn’t think that Nuanyi fancied Cheng Sheng.”
Luosang sighed. “It’s all trouble now. Brother Xiao is quite bothered by the incident,” she said. “I just want them to be happy together.”
“I’ll go look for her later. I don’t think she checked out yet. She might be sleeping in like me.” Just as Yan Su said that, Mo Liuxi started kissing her in her nether regions and she nearly moaned aloud. She quickly said, “I have something… going on. I need to hang up now…”
As soon as she hung up, she kicked him in his chest. “Mo Liuxi, didn’t you hear me on the phone? Something happened. How are you still in the mood for sex?”
“It doesn’t concern the two of us anyway.” Mo Liuxi rubbed his chest. “It’s just a bit of scandal, it happens to all celebrities. Anyway, in this circle, the more glamorous and popular you are, the more people will be watching you. More people will be trying to drag you down as well. If Ji Nuanyi can’t handle that, she shouldn’t be staying in this industry.”
Yan Su was shocked. “What do you mean by that?”
“Someone is trying to bring her down.” Mo Liuxi leaned against the pillow lazily. “Even you have people who are jealous of you, much less a superstar like her. After the Venice Film Festival, she has been receiving acting roles and offers from everywhere… and her movie is doing so well at the box office too. She is going to be nominated for all kinds of awards this year for sure. The media is watching her now but they wouldn’t dare to post things about her too hastily — she does have a strong backing after all. The news last night was let out so surreptitiously that its no surprise someone must have coordinated the whole incident. Think about it — she has a boyfriend like Xiao Si protecting her and she’s soaring high as well, career-wise. Of course, someone would be jealous of her.”
