Mo Jin studied his pleased expression. Hmmm. He was up to something. But what? Was Yan Su interested in this little rascal of hers? If so, she would be inviting trouble…
Or was he just being wilful by insisting on staying over at her place on his own?
Nian Xi gave Mo Liuxi an oblique look. “Why do I get the feeling that you’re very pleased with yourself? Did you secretly run off to meet your girlfriend yesterday?”
“You’re reading too much into this. I was just out with some directors to talk about the film,” Mo Liuxi said casually as he redirected his attention to his food.
When they finished eating, the group left the restaurant. Nian Junting stayed in the back of the group and patted Mo Liuxi’s shoulders. “Not bad,” he said sarcastically. “You managed to spend the night so quickly. Have you lost your virginity yet?”
Suppressing a smirk, Mo Liuxi looked at him with a poker face and said, “Are you joking? I lost it a long time ago. Don’t compare me with yourself.”
He continued striding confidently ahead without looking back. Nian Junting watched him walk away…young people now… so arrogant.
At four o’clock in the afternoon, they all arrived at Wuzhen.
Nian Junting went to the counter to check-in while Nian Xi and Jiang Yuning chatted. Mo Liuxi walked over to them and said to Jiang Yuning, “You can go to Nian Xi’s room tonight. I won’t tell.”
Jiang Yuning was blushing now. “You…”
“All right. Don’t think I didn’t know you two have been sleeping together for a long time.” Mo Liuxi interrupted. “I don’t want you to hug me and grope my chest in the middle of the night.”
Jiang Yuning widened his eyes in disbelief as if he had just been wrongly accused. His breathing quickened, and Nian Xi looked stunned, too. “He grabbed your chest?”
“Xixi, don’t listen to him.” Jiang Yuning shook his head vigorously. “I didn’t touch him.”
Mo Liuxi smirked. “You know best what you were dreaming about. I’m a guy. Of course, my chest isn’t soft.”
He walked off, leaving an embarrassed Professor Jiang who just wanted to crawl into a hole.
“You idiot.” Nian Xi was smiling as she pinched his arms. “Are you embarrassed?”
“Xixi…” Jiang Yuning’s face was beet red. “Why did I become like this?”
“Don’t worry. You’re growing from a little rabbit into a big bad wolf after being with me.” Nian Xi was grinning cheekily as she teased him.
Jiang Yuning was frustrated. He whispered, “Xixi, I don’t think we should keep doing this. I feel so guilty and sinful. Let’s get married this year. Will you marry me?”
Nian Xi was shocked. She looked around her and asked, “Are you proposing to me in this hotel lobby?”
Jiang Yuning stood still for a moment before grabbing his hair. “I’m not proposing. I’m just asking for your opinion. I’ll propose again if it’s all right with you. If you’re not comfortable with it, it would be pointless if I proposed to you.”
Nian Xi smiled. “You have such a way with words….asking me to marry you even though we have nothing now.”
“Oh, it’s okay if we don’t have children. That’s okay,” Jiang Yuning frowned slightly, “I’m just concerned… I heard that Yan Su is younger than you. Even if she gets married before us, how late would we be at the party? Will we break up in the future. Xixi, I’m scared. I want to marry you soon.”
Nian Xi was startled but had to admit he was right. By right, if she continued seeing Jiang Yuning like this, they should be able to get married by the next year…Unless Yan Su was going to catch up with her with rocket-like speed or something happened between her and Jiang Yuning.
She shook her head. She didn’t want to think about that. “Don’t think about these things. We won’t break up. Come on, let’s go get our room cards.”
She squeezed his hand tenderly.
