Shao Xiao and the others watched Feng Wu dubiously while she spoke to Little Phoenix.
“I see!” Feng Wu finally turned to her teammates and pointed at the worms on the screen. “These are Spirit Stone Worms. They’ve been feeding on spiritual stones for years and are filled with essence. They’re very beneficial for cultivation.”
However, the worms had surrounded Shan Jingfei and her friends.
“We should help them!” Ling Hao had a kind heart, and he turned to Feng Wu. “Shan Jingfei isn’t the most polite person, but she doesn’t deserve to die like this. I don’t think we should look the other way.”
All eyes were on Feng Wu.
Feng Wu shook her head. “You’re not capable enough to rescue them. Instead of saving them, you’ll be surrounded by those worms, too. I won’t be able to save you all.
“That’s why you need to wait here while I go save them.” Feng Wu took Little Phoenix out of her sleeve, set it on the screen and said, “Keep me posted.”
Little Phoenix shook its head. “I don’t like the idea of you going alone. You have to take me with you.”
However, someone had to stay with the screen and tell Feng Wu what was happening in the rest of the mine.
“That’s easy.” With a wave of its wing, Little Phoenix switched off the screen and turned it into a mirror, which was small enough to sit on its head.
“You can take it everywhere with you,” Little Phoenix said proudly. “I told you already: I built this mine, and I’m its master.”
Feng Wu didn’t know what to say.
They were talking in the bird’s language, which the others didn’t understand. They watched in bewilderment, wondering what Feng Wu and the bird were talking about.
Feng Wu asked, “Will the worms attack my team?”
Little Phoenix said matter-of-factly, “Of course they will!”
Feng Wu asked, “How can I protect them?”
Little Phoenix didn’t say anything. It landed in a clear area, drew a circle that was six meters in diameter, and lifted its tail.
It then pooped on the spot.
Was that something “Boss Phoenix” was supposed to do?
Seeing how shocked Feng Wu was, Little Phoenix said, “As long as they don’t leave this circle, I guarantee you they’ll stay alive!”
Feng Wu glanced at her teammates.
Ling Hao said, “Feng Wu, are you going to do something about this unhygienic bird?”
Unhygienic?
Aggrieved, Little Phoenix smacked Ling Hao’s head with its wing.
“Ouch!” It was so painful that Ling Hao almost burst into tears.
That hurt!
Feng Wu cleared her throat. “Alright. Just wait for me in this circle. It’s safer that way.”
“In this circle? Is that a joke?” Ling Hao almost jumped to his feet.
Feng Wu rolled her eyes at him. “Just go inside the circle if the Spirit Stone Worms attack you. The circle will keep you alive. Now, I’ll go rescue the others.”
She had seen Cheng Fang on the screen just then.
She had taken a risk when she let Cheng Fang leave.
If Cheng Fang could find Shan Jingfei and her team, Feng Wu didn’t mind giving them a hand.
