As Yu Xi felt that the atmosphere was a little awkward, he broke the silence and said to Qin Yufan: “Miss Qin, your gift is indeed incredibly thoughtful, however, Master Sheng does not need such a gift.”
As Yu Xi explained the situation to Qin Yufan, Zhai Yunsheng spoke to Jian Yiling: “Next time, put more meat in the lunch box. I don’t want carrots either. I’m not a rabbit.”
Jian Yiling didn’t respond. Instead, she silently reached out for the empty lunch box.
However, Zhai Yunsheng held the lunch box away from her: “I’ll get Yu Xi to wash the lunch box and return it to you.”
And thus, Jian Yiling could merely withdraw her hands.
Upon hearing this, Yu Xi grumbled to himself: “I don’t know how to wash a lunch box… I don’t even know how to wash a sock…”
However, after muttering a couple of words, Yu Xi realized that Zhai Yunsheng was staring at him. He immediately changed his words: “Never mind. I feel like my potential for washing dishes is very good!”
And just like that, the son of the Yu family had been reduced to a dishwasher. What had happened to him?
If Zhai Yunsheng stared at him a few more times, Yu Xi would probably be willing to say that he was a dishwasher in his previous life.
Qin Yufan was still waiting for Zhai Yunsheng’s answer. However, it appeared as though he was merely interested in talking about lunch boxes with Jian Yiling.
Why was a cartoon lunch box was worth talking about for half a day?
“Master Sheng, are you really not interested?” Qin Yufan asked again. She was undeterred by Zhai Yunsheng’s lack of response.
If it had been someone else in front of her today, Qin Yufan would not have had such patience and such a temperament.
However, Zhai Yunsheng had always been like this. Not only with her, but with others as well. He had always acted this way.
And thus, Qin Yufan was prepared to face such an attitude.
She wasn’t surprised by Zhai Yusnheng’s attitude towards her today. However, she was surprised by his attitude towards Jian Yiling.
Zhai Yunsheng’s actions towards this little girl were quite different.
“No,” Zhai Yunsheng replied. He finally paid attention to Qin Yufan. However, he only replied to reject her gift mercilessly.

“I’m not interested in either,” Zhai Yunsheng replied with a snort. “Miss Qin, if I’m interested in something, I will get it myself. I do not need anyone to give it to me. People or things, they’re all the same.”
Such a decisive and ruthless rejection would have been too much for a normal girl.
However, Qin Yufan was not a normal girl. If she was, she wouldn’t have visited the Yu Residence today.
Qin Yufan always believed that if you wanted something, you had to take the initiative to get it. You can’t just let an opportunity slip by.
She liked Zhai Yunsheng. And thus, she had to express it and act upon it.
She wouldn’t be one of those timid and shy girls who schemed for a so-called ‘chance encounter’.
“Ahh, it seems like you don’t like me. What about this little girl then?”
Qin Yufan wanted to hear Zhai Yunsheng’s opinion of Jian Yiling.
She could understand that she was not liked by Zhai Yunsheng. However, she would refuse to accept that such a notorious little girl would be favored by Zhai Yunsheng.
Zhai Yunsheng glanced at Jian Yiling. He realized that Jian Yiling was also waiting for his answer.
Jian Yiling was also not sure why Zhai Yunsheng was helping her again and again. He helped her without asking for anything in return.
Zhai Yunsheng looked at Jian Yiling for quite some time. His eyebrows were slightly knitted and his eyes seemed to be deep in thought. However, he did not answer for a long time.
When Yu Xi realized that the atmosphere was not right, he attempted to help Zhai Yunsheng explain the situation: “Miss Qin, Master Zhai said that he wanted to recognize Jian Yiling as his adopted granddaughter. In a sense, Miss Yiling would be Master Sheng’s little sister.”
Such an explanation would be more acceptable to Qin Yufan.
