Chapter 16.1: Strayed
In the afternoon before everyone gets off work, the editorial department had a small meeting. The Chief Editor expressed her concern in the meeting about the progress of Teacher Xing Xin’s manuscript. Lan Ning felt a little pressured. She felt that if she did not successful receive the manuscript by the 15th, the Chief Editor is going to give her a hard time.
After the meeting, everyone pack their stuff to get ready to go home. Lan Ning went on QQ and send numerous reminder to submit the manuscript to Xing Xing before she turned off the computer to go home.
Reaching downstairs of the company, Lan Ning as usual head towards the subway station to take the subway home. She was suddenly stopped when a man greeted her: “Lan Ning.”
She stopped and looked. She was almost blinded by the flash of smile from Yu Mu Yuan.
Lan Ning pulled her mouth and pretended not to see him. She quickly walked towards the subway station. Yu Mu Yuan kept up with her and explained while walking alongside her: “I apologize for yesterday. I did not control my emotions. I have said some words that I should not have said. I hope you do not mind.”
Lan Ning impatiently frowned: “How did you know I am here?”
Yu Mu Yuan smiled: “If you really want to know a person, this level of information is not hard to find.”
…. Very well! Do not let her find out who betrayed her. Or else, the person will never have a chance to explain.
“Yesterday I am really sorry. I should not have said that. When we met in the college, I knew you pretty well then. You are not that kind of person.”
Lan Ning finally stopped and laughed at him mockingly: “Back then I also did not see you as a piece of rubbish!”
Yu Mu Yuan’s face suddenly changed to become a little ugly. His mouth gently moved, seems to want to explain further. Lan Ning step in and began: “People will change. You may think that I am pure and lovely before. But now I am not. The person you saw yesterday is indeed my boyfriend. I am now heading to his house.”
Yu Mu Yuan face become uglier. Lan Ning continued: “You and I have broken up for over three years. Isn’t it good if we don’t bother with each other’s life? You are so wrapped up with me, what does that mean? To tell you the truth, you have the ability. The time you used to find me, you may have change several girlfriends.”
“You…..” Yu Mu Yuan exclaimed angrily.
Lan Ning sneered: “Remember the time you went for the trip to Indonesia? You asked me to help you buy the ticket. Later I learned that you went with your girlfriend from abroad.”
Yu Mu Yuan suddenly become speechless.
Lan Ning looked at him mockingly and carried her bag before walking away. She did not expect that Yu Mu Yuan will follow her to the subway. Lan Ning can only squeeze at the other end of the subway while frowning.
Coming out of the subway, she took the bus. Yu Mu Yuan still unyieldingly follow her.
Lan Ning felt very stuffy but do not want to upset him further. So she remained at the far end. As they were approaching the residential area of Yan Ru Yu, at the last moment before the bus close the door, Lan Ning quickly got off the bus. Successfully got rid of Yu Mu Yuan.
A few seconds later, she saw the bus slowing down. And then the back door open and Yu Mu Yuan came down from the bus.
Lan Ning: “………………….”
He is so dedicated in following her for what? Has she not paid her debts from the last generation?
Yu Mu Yuan had a smile on his face when he walks to the direction of Lan Ning. Lan Ning frowned, turned and quickly walked away.
Yu Mu Yuan speed up the pace to follow her. He seems to want to catch up with her. At this moment, the aunty staying next door to Yan Ru Yu came from the opposite direction. She stopped in front of Lan Ning: “Isn’t this Mr. Yan’s girlfriend?”
Lan Ning bite the bullet and admit: “Yes ah….”
The aunty looked behind her and pulled her hand to walk away: “The man following you, do you know him?”
Lan Ning shook her head and said: “I do not know him. From just now he has been following me. Don’t know why.”
The two of them walked into the compound. The aunty said to the guard at the door: “Chen ah. The man, we don’t know who keep following us. You have to stop him ah.”
Cheng looked at Yu Mu Yuan and said with guarantee: “Rest be assured that our community, not everyone can casually come in.”

Lan Ning laughed without a word. Aunty and her chatted: “This Mr. Yan is usually eccentric. Rarely someone come to see him. Did not think that he had a girlfriend oh!”
“Is it? Ha Ha.” Lan Ning laughed twice. Yan Ru Yu looks very eccentric but this is a false impression.
The elevator stopped at the twenty-first floor. The door opened. Lan Ning and aunty got out.
Lan Ning was not intending to come over to Yan Ru Yu’s place. But now since she is already here, might as well remind him to submit the manuscript.
She pressed the doorbell to Yan Ru Yu’s home. The aunty said at her side: “What! Mr Yan did not give the door key to you? This cannot do oh. Little girl, must keep that in mind.”

This aunty is really too enthusiastic.
She smiled at her and said: “Today, I forgot to take the key.”
Aunty cried ‘Oh!’ and went into her own home.
