Chapter 639: Exploration Finished

The Storm City players had killed the pirate captain, and the sun had just risen to a point where the fog was forming. The other surviving players had retreated and brought with them a bunch of battle loot and mission items.

As they prepared to leave, on a luxurious cruise ship on the other side of the triangular island, the higher-ups of the various North City guilds who were initially awaiting good news were all grimacing.

The guild leader of SK Guild, Guild Leader Park, was staring at a superstar manipulator of his guild with a stern expression while asking questions with gritted teeth. “What? The device and Boss biochip has been taken by the people from Storm City? And just a dozen of you came back? Are you kidding me right now?”

The superstar manipulator player explained with a disgraced face, “Guild leader, it’s not our fault. No one would have thought that the Rebel Army would suddenly appear. The people from Storm City seemed to have, for some reason, discovered our ambush well in-advance. In the end, they somehow lured the Rebel Army camp people over to our side and caught all of us by surprise. It caused us to lose a lot of our people…”

Guild Leader Park’s face was incredibly dark and gloomy and he said with a tone tinged with a hint of anger, “And you still have the gall to explain? You’re all among the best of our various major guilds, and you’re telling me that you can’t even beat a bunch of Rebel Army camp players with average gears? Even if you can’t win, couldn’t you have retreated sooner?”

“It is mainly because the Rebel Army camp’s NPC had some method to gain control of the monsters from the branch bases. Also, we didn’t clear the bases behind us that meant our flank was exposed and attacked by the monsters…” The superstar manipulator player spoke softer and softer, his explanation gradually turning into a whisper.

However, Guild Leader Park still heard it loud and clear. With veins popping up in his forehead as he shouted, “You didn’t clear it? Why didn’t you clear them? Did the tactical command team not consider this?”

The SK Guild’s superstar manipulator perspired a lot and did not speak.

The person who decided to not clear the bases was none other than the General Manager of the company, also known as the guild leader.

Although the guild leader, completely enraged at the moment, had forgotten the fact that he was the one who made the arrangements, the superstar manipulator who had been developed and raised by the guild could not and dared not directly point it out.

However, after shouting at the superstar player, SK Guild’s guild leader quickly remembered. “It is my fault. I did not consider the fact that the Rebel Army would take part in this…”

After that, with a very gloomy face, he lowered his voice and re-evaluated himself. He turned around to face the higher-ups of the various major guilds of North City before bowing.

“However, we have not yet completely lost. This cruise ship has been specially modified. Its speed is faster than Storm City’s military ship. We only need to follow them and find their position. After that, we will just need to find some way to block their path. We still have a chance of getting the mission item. After all, the superweapons on their military ship cannot be used in a battle between players. We only need to…” After he finished speaking, a sparkle could be seen in the eyes of Guild Leader Park under his gold-rimmed spectacles.

However, before he could finish speaking…

“Boom!”

Suddenly, as if being hit by a huge wave, the entire luxurious cruise ship slanted to one side violently.

“Splash!”

The people in the cabin, as well as the people on deck, lost their footing immediately and fell to one side, some people even fell directly into the sea.

“What’s going on?”

“What happened?”

The higher-ups of the North City guilds and the players that returned from the island seemed to be surprised and shocked.

A Scout player took out his recon meter to check and immediately, his expression changed. “There’s a monster in the sea. F*cking hell, it is a giant Quasi-Boss monster!”

He did not need to speak anymore. Some of those on the ship had noticed who or what was causing the cruise ship to tilt so much.

A meaty and savage-looking head around the size of a house covered with multiple table-sized spikes emerged from the gray ocean water under the bright sun. It glared vengefully and hatefully at the players on the cruise ship.

It continually slammed its black turtle shell with multiple mountain-like bumps into the hull of the cruise ship that had been severely dented.

“Hurry! Go and stop it! We can’t let it keep hitting us!” Within the cabin, an official from one of the guilds of North City, whose head was now bleeding from a fall, shouted after he saw the scene through the cruise ship’s surveillance system.

“Ta, ta, ta…”

“Ta, ta, ta…”

A few players ran to the ship’s deck. While trying to steady themselves, the players threw energy attacks and fired bullets at the Quasi-Boss in the sea.

However…

“It’s not working! We’re not making a dent!”

“The defense of this Quasi-Boss monster called the Shark Turtle is just too strong! Its HP is over a million!”

Before long, the players who took part in the attack looked in utter despair.

Bullets and attacks which landed on the monster’s body only dealt single-digit damage against it. How were they going to fight and defeat this monster?

If there were over a hundred players on board, they might have been able to defeat the Quasi-Boss Shark Turtle before it sank the cruise ship.

However, they only had 30 to 40 players left on the ship. Among them, more than half were management type players from the various major guilds of North City.

To rely on these people to quickly kill a Quasi-Boss with insane defense and over a million points in HP? Was it even possible?

Of course, it was impossible.

“Rumble…”

“We’re finished! The ship’s hull is destroyed!”

“We’re done for! The ship is sinking!”

The Quasi-Boss Shark Turtle underneath the luxurious cruise ship kept using its shell to slam into the side of the cruise ship.

As a cruise ship, while its materials were incredibly high quality, when it came to its defense, it could not be compared to Storm City’s military ship. With the Level-55 Quasi-Boss slamming into the ship as if nothing else mattered, the ship was starting to sink.

“Hurry up! Bring out the assault boats! Use the speed boats!”

“It won’t work. The system is telling us we can’t bring out vehicles since we’re in the middle of a fight… F*ck…”

Amid the quickly sinking cruise ship, a bunch of North City players was trying to swim to escape from the whirlpool created by the large sink sinking, as well as the cursing of those who failed to escape.

The Quasi-Boss Shark Turtle seemed to have even cracked its shell after consecutive collisions. It was surrounded by blood as it sank along with the cruise ship.

As a “Parasitic” monster, after the sea serpent died, the Shark Turtle’s life was coming to an end.

After a series of incredible life-threatening collisions with the ship, it had also burned out its remaining life force.

However, if this Shark Turtle could speak, it would probably be muttering something along this line, “Serpey, old friend, I’ve finally avenged you,…” not knowing that it had found and sunk the wrong ship.

Nonetheless, one side encountering the assault of a Quasi-Boss each, it sure does seem quite fair, right?
