But when people noticed Zhang Ruiqiang walking into the booth, the crowd start to grow. Not only the Chinese likes to follow the group, but those foreigners also like to do this too.
In about one minute, when Feng Yu was still setting up the VCD player, the crowd grew to a few dozens, and it was still growing.
Zhang Ruiqiang started to regret coming to Tai Hua Trading’s booth, and he should not even sit there. He was tricked by this brat again. Feng Yu was making use of him to attract people!
Feng Yu took out a disc and showed it to the crowd before placing it into the VCD player. Soon images appeared on the TV, and it was Elvis Presley performing.
The image was very clear, and the sound quality was excellent. There were no lags, and the crowd was surprised.
The image quality was almost as good as LaserDisc, but it was a compact disc.
The Chinese had seen it on the commercials, but not a lot of people had bought it. There were also not a lot of people purchasing video cassette players in China as it was too expensive. There were still many families in China that do not have a TV.
Actually, LaserDisc was also not selling in China. Even in the West, the sales were not doing well. Only Japan and Southeast Asia were selling well. The biggest manufacturer of LaserDisc was Japan.
From the lack of pirated LaserDisc in China, one could tell that this product has no market here.
“Our VCD player will soon replace LD players and the Video cassette players. It can be used as a Karaoke machine and video players.”
“Nonsenses!” Feng Yu was still speaking in front of the VCD player telling the crowd about the features when he was interrupted by an angry voice! The accent was also peculiar.
The representative from Pioneer Corporation squeezed himself through the crowd and stood in front of Feng Yu. He said in an agitated tone: “Our LD can store 100 minutes of the movie and uses laser technologies to record. Both sides can be read, and the image and audio are clearer. How can our LD be replaced by such products?”

One cost at least 20 USD and the other was less than 2 USD. Which will the consumers pick? Even morons will know that if there were not much difference in the quality, they would choose the cheaper ones.
“Here, this is your company’s LD, and this is our VCD. The storage for your LD is enough to store 8 VCD.” Feng Yu took out 2 boxes and placed the Discs on the table to show everybody.
“Furthermore, the prices for LD players in the market is above 1,300 USD, but our VCD player is selling for about 1,000 USD! Look at the size difference between the LD player and our VCD player. Which one will you buy?”
“Even if your product can replace LD, but how can you replace Videocassettes? Videocassettes are the mainstream, and the prices for a video cassette is only a few USD.” Someone from the crowd shouted.
The representative from Pioneer Corporation was still thinking how to refute Feng Yu when he heard this person asking. He kept quiet. Although he knew Chinese, it was still tough for him to argue with others in Chinese.
“Good question. I shall tell all of you why this VCD will replace cassette tapes. Look at this video. It is Elvis Presley’s music video.” Feng Yu took a microphone and plugged it into the VCD player and pressed a button. Elvis' voice disappeared, but the music was still going on.
Feng Yu sang a few lines along with the music. His singing was terrible, but he had proved his point.
“See this? This can still be used as a Karaoke machine. We will be introducing a large variety of this karaoke VCD. No matter if you want to sing or listen to music, this would be the right player for you. Look at the image. It is much clearer than video cassette tapes, and you will not face the problem of your tapes getting stuck in the player. There is another benefit to our VCD. The space of two videotapes is more than 8 VCDs. Normal video cassette players are selling from 900 USD to 1,500 USD. We have the same advantage!”
“Do you have available stocks now? I want to buy 2!” Someone arranged by Feng Yu shouted.
