Probably something to do with why the Gu family needed to give up Gu Tian's body. I don't think we ever figured out who was the person behind that (at least if we did, my memory is failing me) and they haven't been a plot point for a very long time so having the author reintroduce the Gu family's name makes me suspect we're going to go deeper into that now.
