Wu Daozi's sentiment was right spot-on. It was indeed that Xu Wenchuan lost self-control, as he was too carried away with Wu Qiujun's shameless conduct of eating his own words. After he was brought back to his senses by Wu Daozi's enlightenment, Xun Wenchuan looked at Wandong, with appreciation overflowing in his eyes.
"Hahaha... Your Highness, based on what happened today, I'll definitely have Wandong as my disciple," Wu Daozi said, laughing out loud.
"What? Senior Wu, surely you are gonna have him as your disciple?" Tang Xinyi asked Wu Daozi, slack-jawed. Her facial expression displayed only one thing —bewilderment.
Wu Daozi nodded hard, looked over at Wandong and said, "Yaoting, are you willing to formally acknowledge me as your master?"
"I surely would like to. Esteemed Master, please allow me to pay you my respects." Wandong responded forthwith. Being a young man of inconceivable sagacity, Wandong knew too well that he was not only able to learn martial arts with Wu Daozi, but also ready to greet his bright prospects aided by Wu Daozi's connections. Only fools would turn away such a favorable offer.
Wu Daozi was elated to the brim by Wandong's ceremonial kowtows. He was so high in spirits that he discarded all formalities and hastened to help Wandong up in person. The latter appeared exceedingly pleasant to him that he grinned from ear to ear.
Shocked by the beaming Wu Daozi and the respectful Wandong, Tang Xinyi lost her tongue for quite a while.
"Somebody to get the chefs prepare a premium feast. I'm gonna get good and drunk with Mr. Wu tonight," Xu Wenchuan bid his servants loudly, jubilant to the full.
"That's a sure thing. We'll drink till all's blue," Wu Daozi agreed. Though didn't have a good capacity for liquor, but he was ready to go out of the chute in such a heady vibe.
"Miss. Tang, I learnt that you are a heavy drinker. Please come entertain Mr. Wu today and make him drink in full play," Xu Wenchuan said to Tang Xinyi, smilingly.
"Do...do I have the honor to keep him company?" Tang Xinyi asked, feeling extremely flattered. Being allowed to sit at the same table with Wu Daozi and toast him was a like a laurel, at least for the young generation.
Xu Wenchuan smiled silently and cast a glimpse at Wu Daozi.
Being remarkably astute, Wu Daozi picked up on Xu Wenchuan's intentions forthwith. Perturbed by Xu's arrangement, he looked back at Xu.
The moment their eyes met, they got across one another's ideas. Xu Wenchuan nodded without hesitation, with a tinge of seriousness popping up on his countenance. It was fairly clear that Xu Wenchuan has taken sides in the Princess Baidie. Now it was Wu Daozi's turn to make his decision.
Wu Daozi was left with no option. He was disinclined to be in on it, as he only wanted to stay detached and be a martial scholar. Neverless, once he took Wandong as his disciple, he had no choice but to take his stand and show his attitude.
Pausing and pondering for a moment, Wu Daozi turned and said to Tang Xinyi, "Miss. Tang, I shouldn't have told you off at the Qingyun Martial Institute. Please don't take it to heart."
Wu Daozi's words was an indicator of his attitude. Tang Xinyi captured that right away and hastened to respond in ecstasy, "I dare not. Truth be told, it was my fault. I shouldn't have offended you."
Wu Daozi cracked up as said, "Yes, you are right. Do take a leaf from Yaoting's book. Stay level-headed and plan everything with caution. Only in this way can you take everything under control."
