"Xiaoya, watch yourself when you speak! Yaoting didn't ask for the wounds! He is no masochist!"

Sun Daobai hastened to scold her.

As being said, Xu Yaoting used to be good for nothing. Sun Daobai wouldn't have cared to talk to him back then if he hadn't been the grandson of the Duke of Dingshan.

Sun Daobai, nevertheless, changed his attitude toward Xu Yaoting, as Wandong convinced him with his outstanding qualities.

"Daobai, for your information, Yaoting would have got killed by Wu Qiujun if he hadn't been so quick-witted."

Xu Wenchuan cut in, fluttering with fear.

"What? It was Wu Qiujun?"

Xu Wenchuan's introduction knitted Sun Daobai's eyebrows forthwith. Without any delay, he came up to Wandong immediately.

When he was about to check Wandong's pulses, Wandong stopped him, "Grandpa Sun, could you please check Zong Qi's pulse first?"

"Zong Qi?"

Sun Daobai went confused.

"No need to do that for me!" Zong Qi shouted in haste, "I'm okay, I can still bear up! Senior Sun, please check my big brother's pulses first."

"Don't mince word!" Wandong waved his hands, "Just do what I say! Grandpa Sun, please."

Sun Daobai and Xu Wenchuan shared a tacit glance, beamed with praise. They happened to think of the days of their heroic youth at the same time.

During a war with the Tiezhan Empire, they both got wounded. Just like Wandong and Zong Qi, they insisted the other get treated first out of brotherhood and heroism.

As a grandpa, Xu Wenchuan was rather satisfied with Zong Qi, as he was indeed a loyal-hearted friend.

As an old saying went, two heads were better than one, a man could hardly become accomplished without an assistance.

Sun Daobai cast a backward glance at his granddaughter in spite of himself, a sense of regret popping up in him. Had Sun Xiaoya been a boy, she would have developed a tight bond with Wandong as well.

"Big brother…"

Tears welling up in his eyes, Zong Qi stuttered in a sobbing voice.

Sun Daobai smiled, "Yaoting, you okay to wait for a minute?"

Having managed to choke back a burst of blood, "Don't worry, I'm a tough guy!"

Without further ado, Sun Daobai rushed toward Zong Qi.

Having got hit by Wu Qiujun's palm, Zong Qi, indeed, ended up seriously wounded.

For Sun Daobai's part, nonetheless, it was no big deal. With 36 acupuncturing needles pressed into his skin through corresponding points, Zong Qi's wounds almost got healed forthwith. A recovery would come into place as long as he took medicine for a few days.

"Grandpa, you see, Zong Qi is my brother now. Will you mind letting him stay at our palace for a few days?"

Wandong proposed to Xu Wenchuan when Zong Qi's medical sessions were roughly concluded.

Rubbing his beard, Xu Wenchuan smiled, "Not at all! The Palace of Dingshan will become his eternal residence as long as Zong Qi is willing to stay!"

"Thank you, my big brother! Thank you, your royal highness!"

Zong Qi hastened to extend his gratitude.

Xu Wenchuan took to Zong Qi a lot, as he was a candid and loyal young lad. As it went on, he would eventually develop into Wandong's right-hand man. On thinking of that, Xu Wenchuan went even more delighted.

"Discard the formal reference to me," he waved his hand, "Just call me grandpa as Yaoting does if you see fit."

Sun Daobai bade the servants to escort Zong Qi to his bedroom. "Well, Yaoting," he beamed with joy, "is it time for me to treat you now?"

Wandong feinted a pout and muttered, "What's the wait? Please come and treat me! I can no longer bear up!"

Wandong's child-like reaction made Sun Daobai and Xu Wenchuan burst out laughing. While becoming increasingly mature and poised, Wandong still retained his innocence. What a cute kid he was!

His reaction even cracked up Sun Xiaoya as well.

Wandong's grave wounds, however, took out the smile off Sun Daobai's face.

"Wu Qiujun was such a despicable asshole!" He flew into a rage forthwith, "How dare he make such a hideously deadly attack at Yaoting? He was planning to kill!"

Renowned as a debonair gentleman, Sun Daobai always behaved with decorum. Wandong's wounds, apparently, were horrifyingly grave, otherwise, Sun wouldn't have cursed. That demonstrated his care and concern for Wandong as well.
