An attack with eighty percent of her spiritual energy used went beyond Xu Wenchuan's capacity.

Letting out a muffled humph, he retreated for a couple of steps, eyebrows tightly knitted, grim-faced.

"Xu Wenchuan, what's the matter? You're already out of your steam? You know I haven't thoroughly employed my martial capacity yet!"

Sneering, Leng Shuangrong cast sarcastic eyes on him.

"You kidding? You have a long way to go before knocking me down!"

Xu Wenchuan retorted in a sonorous voice, managing to stand still.

"Humph! Go on living up appearances!"

Though intending to move on, she put an end to the duel. Disasters would befall her if she had got Xu Wenchuan killed, as he was, after all, a distinguished figure in the Qingyun Empire. Compounded with the fact that there was no animosity between her and him, she had no reason to go that far.

Leng Shuangrong's back-out brought great relief to Xu Wenchuan.

He took a deep breath in spite of himself.

The old witch was becoming increasingly hard to cope.

"Yuecui, any idea about your grandma's martial cultivation methods?"

Wandong turned to Leng Yuecui.

"Jesus, you still have the heart to ask about that? You think she will impart her methods to you? You know she even refuses to do that to my sister!"

Coming around from the slap she just suffered, Leng Yuecui rubbed her cheeks.

Wandong shook his head and furtively smirked at Leng Yuecui's words.

Her grandma's cultivation methods was literally a sort of poison, killing warriors slowly with its fatal defects.

"Not even your sister? Why?"

Wandong knitted his eyebrows.

"My knowledge about the methods doesn't go that far," she shook her head, "My sister pleaded a couple of times, but grandma simply turned her down. Once she drove grandma to the wall and got scolded straight from the shoulder. You know, my sister is a first-rate talent in grandma's eyes, far superior to me. As far as I can remember, she only got scolded once by grandma."

Wandong patted her on her shoulder to comfort her and responded under his breath, "I can tell your grandma cares about you a lot as well. Otherwise, she wouldn't have such a big fit today and come to my place for trouble this late."

"Yaoting, I…I'm really sorry this time."

Feeling terribly remorseful, Leng Yuecui blamed herself for her procrastination. Nothing would have happened if she had headed home in time.

Wandong shook his head with a smile.

According to Leng Yuecui's description, Leng Shuangrong might have identified the defects of her cultivation method as well. Otherwise, she would have long imparted it to her senior granddaughter. But it was pretty paradoxical — if so, why did she carry on practicing it?

"Leng Shuangrong, you're their senior after all. Don't you find it shameful to hold a junior in a pickle? You can vent your anger on me as you wish! Do spare my grandson!"

"Grandpa! Don't you remember? I said that would take care of the trouble I made!"

Wandong refused to back down.

Xu Wenchuan smiled wryly in spite of himself. His heart ached on seeing his grandson persist parading his courage before such a deadly opponent.

Wandong's composure raised Leng Shuangrong's eyebrows.

Though having been around, she hadn't met any youngsters faced with her anger in such a praiseworthy unhurried manner.

She had to admit that his courage blew her away through and through, however, she despised him.

"Yuecui will stay my friend for many years to come…through my life, no matter you agree or not."

Wandong ended his statement with a glance on Leng Yuecui. He deliberately accentuated their friendship, telling her that they couldn't go any further than that.

He, unfortunately, overestimated Leng Yuecui's comprehension ability.

Based on her deeply moved facial expression, Wandong could tell she got him wrong.
