Wandong cast a sidelong glimpse at Master Pi and said in a cold voice, "You'd better watch yourself when you make a statement. You said you wanted to amputate me as a harsh lesson. In that case, you take the Qingyun people's life as mud and ashes? Then you can bully us as long as you see fit?"
Wandong's question aroused anger in Duan Lengyan. However, she got furious because Master Pi discredited the Tiezhan Empire with his random savage act.
Against the backdrop of retaining a passable relationship with the Qingyun Empire while annexing the Tiandu Kingdom, The Tiezhan Empire would by no means allow any frictions to arise with the Qingyun Empire at that moment. Albeit suffering from a severe internal strife, the Qingyun Empire was still too powerful for the Tiezhan Empire to conquer with immediate effect. Being at a high position of the Tianbao hierarchy, Master Pi is supposed to be well-informed about that. No wonder Duan Lengyan fell into a rage.
Seeing Duan Lengyan pulling a long face and slicing him with her eyes, Master Pi's felt his heart beat rampantly and hastened to say, "Childe Xu, please do not get me wrong. It all boiled down to the two bastards' fault."
Though Master Pi could prevaricate on Wandong, he dared not displease Duan Lengyan. Hence he made the two gatekeepers as scapegoats in a haste and thought, "These two should be left holding the bag for it."
Nevertheless, the two house dogs were not as dumb as Master Pi expected. On hearing that, they soon figured out Master Pi's ulterior motive — he was going to make them fall guys. Though they were nothing but lowly men, they could live once as well. Hence one of them hastened to grudge at Master Pi about kicking down the ladder, "Master Pi, you can't treat us so heartlessly. We have been dealing with the Qingyun people in this manner for ages. We merely acted on your instructions."
Master Pi didn't expect that they even dared to rub his nose in it in the presence of Duan Lengyan, which could possibly put an end to his career. Hence, he flared up and yelled, "Goddamned bastards! You should dare to frame me! You're asking for death!"
Known as a coldblooded character, Master Pi raised his right palm with rage and slapped the two gatekeepers in their faces. Hardly had the two miserable wretches figured it out when their chests sank straight away. Blood splashed out of their bodies like fountains — they both died on the spot.
"Miss Three, you know the two bastards were merely running their mouths. Please don't take them seriously," Master Pi hastened to continue with his explanation.
Duan Lengyan glared at him hard. Though she was displeased, she had to admit that Master Pi did solve the problem in a reasonable manner. She let out a cold hum and asked Wandong, "Childe Xu, are you happy with that?"
"Happy? The two damned house dogs must have devastated numberless Qingyun people like what he did to us. As far as I'm concerned, they got off the hook effortlessly with Master Pi's lethal slap. If it had been me, I would have amputated both of them and feed dogs with their corpses!" Wandong responded, gritting his teeth. His grim look was sufficiently scary, but what he said even sent chills down one's spine. Not to mention Duan Lengyan, Master Pi even knitted his eyebrows and cast a threatened look at Wandong, though he had been around.
It went without saying that Wang Tianbiao, who remained kneeling on the ground, almost paralyzed on hearing Wandong's words, resembling a length of cooked spaghetti. He even failed to stand up, appearing utterly horror-struck.
Duan Lengyan turned her head and caught a glimpse of Wang Tianbiao. She raised her eyebrows and spoke in a loud voice, "Director Wang, why are you still kneeling on the ground? Do stand up!"
Duan Lengyan counldn't allow Wang Tianbiao to throw in the sponge, as the Tianbao Mansion had laid out a large sum of money on him over the past few years and finally turned him into an obedient lackey. In addition, Duan Lengyan could withstand her loss of ground to Wandong any more — the latter had been at the upper hand ever since they confronted one another for the first time. She wanted to deter Wandong from doing just as he pleased by virtue of his aristocracy through protecting Wang Tianbiao. And she did that to mirror the magnitude of the Tiezhan Empire's force in the Qingyun Empire incidentally, which went far beyond Wandong's imagination.
"This…This…" Wan Tianbiao stammered with bewilderment. He had never met Duan Lengyan before.
Master Pi cut in a haste, "This is Miss Three, the junior master of the Tianbao Mansion. Just stand up as she bade."
