Chapter 1 Last Words

I am Lin Fei, a dimensional traveler.

However, my decade of dimensional traveling experience is nothing compared to those of my kind who have saved the world or conquered beauties…

In the decade I’ve been here, I only have two achievements to my name…

First, when I was eight, I copied dozens of poems in one shot in an attempt to mess with the private tutor who often hit my palm. Unfortunately, the leader of Swordsmanship-seeking Sect just happened to pass by and witness this. He was so stunned that he cried and begged me to enter Swordsmanship-seeking Sect.

Second, on the second day after I entered Swordsmanship-seeking Sect, I found out that my I had a congenital meridian defect and would never be able to utilize my qi. In a fit of anger, the leader that had invited me to the sect banished me to the Hidden Sword Tower.

Thereafter, I spent more than a decade within this tower.

To be honest, life has been good these few years. I am well-fed and clothed and receive due respect for my rank. Everyone has been respectful to me; even the true disciples would need to acknowledge me as their senior brother here.

Most of my duties here involve simple cleaning and tidying. During my free time, I am allowed to casually browse through a few sword manuals. Anyway, now that I have this congenital defect of my meridians, I would never be able to break past the Qi Growth Realm, so no one here is worried that I would secretly attempt to master these sword manuals.

Unfortunately, my comfortable life looks like it is about to come to an end.

Three years ago, the Luofu world started its descent into chaos. Banished immortals returned to this place and demon kings came back to life. Several forbidden areas reappeared as they were acting in unison, Pure Yang Palace, Palace of Eternal Life, Forever Young Mountain, and released the resentment they had accumulated for centuries onto this land. Blood flowed freely everywhere and in three years, they have destroyed half of this universe.

A few days ago, my useless master, that very leader that brought me here, secretly visited me here at Hidden Sword Tower. I was not sure whether he acted this way because he was pricked by his conscience, but he stuffed a few void runes into my hand and told me to use them to escape if I was ever in danger..

His head must have been muddled with age. Even if I was in danger, a good-for-nothing like with a congenital meridian defect would never be able to escape with these few pieces of void runes…

Forget it, now that I still have some time, I should finish writing my last words. After all, I am also a dimensional traveler, so I can’t just die like this…

These are the last words of a dimensional traveler.

…

“Isn’t this Hidden Sword Tower? Haven’t I died? Why am I still here?” Lin Fei struggled to open his eyes. The first thing he noticed was that he was still in Hidden Sword Tower. He was still trying to make sense of it all when all kinds of memories flooded his mind.

It took a full 30 minutes for him to come back to his senses. Lin Fei’s eyes then opened in shock…

“Damn, I’ve traveled again?”

Yes, he had!

Thankfully, this time around it was not so bad. He was still in Luofu world and still remained at Swordsmanship-seeking Sect, so he had only traveled through time. Hundreds of thousands of years had passed and he found that he had taken over the body of a young man also named Lin Fei. This Lin Fei was the inner disciple of one of the twelve peaks of Swordsmanship-seeking Sect - Alioth Peak.

“Weird.  Everyone from Swordsmanship-seeking Sect had perished at the Battle of the Black Abyss. Even someone like myself perished alongside the King of the Abyss 30 years later. Why then does Swordsmanship-seeking Sect still exist hundreds of thousands of years later? Who continued its legacy?”

Did that old man find a way to escape?

That did not seem right either. That old man seemed sure that he would die. Just before he had entered the depths of the Black Abyss, that old man had already visited him to pass on his last words. That was the last time they ever spoke to each other. He even told him the location of the seven secret libraries, practically handing him the keys to the entire Swordsmanship-seeking Sect. If that old man truly had a hidden card, he would have never told him so much…

Then again, if that old man did not plan an escape for himself, what could be the explanation for this Swordsmanship-seeking Sect?

“I’ve caught you in the act, Lin Fei. How dare you sneakily hide in the Hidden Sword Tower to practice your swordsmanship…” While Lin Fei was lost in thought, a voice rang out behind him.

“Hm?” Lin Fei was a little annoyed. Whose disciple was this and how could he be so rude? How could he act so brashly here in the Hidden Sword Tower? He would make sure that this person’s master give him a good talking to later.

Something was wrong…

He forgot that he had traveled through time again and many centuries had passed by now. He was no longer the king of the tower who commanded the respect of everyone…

“I knew that you would definitely be hiding here at Hidden Sword Tower secretly poring through swordsmanship manuals after I defeated you with my Ghost Spirit Slash. How is it, Lin Fei? After spending such a long time reading them, have you figured out a way to overcome my Ghost Spirit Slash?” The intruder was a rather handsome young man of about 20 years of age, but he had an irritating smile, which was both arrogant and exaggerated.

“Ghost Spirit Slash?” Now that this person had mentioned it, Lin Fei noticed that there were two items next to him.

The first was his last words which had penned down centuries ago and the second was the Ghost Spirit Slash swordsmanship manual.

There was nothing suspicious about his last words. After all, simplified Chinese characters were just gibberish in this universe, so no one would know what its contents were even if another hundred of thousands of years had passed.

But this Ghost Spirit Slash…

According to the memories left behind by his predecessor, this was one of the ‘Three Slashes and Five Wonders’ of Swordsmanship-seeking Sect. Whoever peeked at the manual without prior permission from the sect was liable to be sentenced to spend 10 years facing the wall in reflection or even face being kicked out of the sect.

“…” Lin Fei did not know how to react in that instant. His predecessor who bore the exact same name as him had left him in a hot water. Why must this punk sneak off to Hidden Sword Tower to secretly learn swordsmanship? Not just that he had selected the Ghost Spirit Slash, which thousands of centuries ago, had been considered a beginner-level swordsmanship technique of Swordsmanship-seeking Sect. He had even gone and left him with this mess to clear. This kid had gone a bit too far..

“I’d like to see how you’re going to try to wriggle your way out of this one. You’re now guilty of sneaking into Hidden Sword Tower to peek at the Ghost Spirit Slash manual. Have you prepared the food you’re going to need during your time spent facing the wall in reflection?”

As he looked at this person’s arrogant face, Lin Fei searched his predecessor’s memory to find out the identity of the person in front of him. This man was called Song Feixing and had been an outer disciple just like Lin Fei. They had become enemies while carrying out a sect mission and had battled each other multiple times, from when they were both outer gate disciples to when they were inner gate disciples. One had been inducted into Alioth Peak, while the other had joined Heavenly Punishment Peak.

However, Song Tianxing had been luckier. He had been recognized for his contributions to Tianxing Peak and was rewarded with the impartation of Ghost Spirit Slash. Ten days ago, Song Tianxing who had now successfully cultivated the Ghost Spirit Slash, battled Lin Fei and defeated him in one move. He even declared that from that day on, he could beat him each time they met..

So he had been waiting here all this time…

Unfortunately, although we share the same name, but it would be tough for you to try to beat me each time we meet…

“Who told you that I came here to secretly learn swordsmanship?”

Song Tianxing was stunned for a moment. Damn, was this punk insane? He seemed to have gotten his lines mixed up.

Shouldn’t he be kneeling down and begging him not to report him? Then, according to the script he had written in his mind, he would reject him coldly. Lin Fei would then wail at his feet and express his remorse. Thereafter, Song Tianxing would give him a good talking to and Lin Fei would kotow in gratitude. Ultimately, he would still report Lin Fei to the sect.

This was how the situation he had imagined would play out…

How could Lin Fei go off the script? How was the show supposed to go on now?

No, he would bring this show back on track.
