Chapter 244: Crisis and Opportunity
"Whoosh", a golden bandolier flew and struck the S2 in midair. The weight and momentum of the bandolier forced it to coil around the S2's chest, loosely tying it up as it fell to the ground.
The two machine gunners drew out their Type-77 pistols and got down the vehicle and fired at the S2 along with the member inside the car that drew out a Type-56 AR and fired from the window. The driver was an old member and had witnessed the might of an S2. With such a good opportunity in front of him, he full locked the steering wheel and moved the wheels to squash the head of the S2 that was struggling on the floor…. But the news of them killing the S2 did not make Zhang Xiao Qiang happy, the spring was situated on the south of J-City and was only less than 300km away. Provided that the zombies moved day and night, they would arrive in three days. Zhang Xiao Qiang's current base already had to deal with the zombies from the county, adding those from J-City, the number of zombies would hit 20 thousand. If even more scattered zombies join in the horde, the number could easily hit up to 40 thousand.
"How many more manpower can we allocate to the construction site?" Zhang Xiao Qiang asked.
"Fat Chef has 30 ladies helping to cook, we can allocate half of them." Fat Chef glanced at Zhang Huai An but did not say anything as he lowered his head and smoked his cigarette. It was not his place to speak.
"Lu Ren Yi's back-end logistics team can all be allocated, all the miscellaneous things in the past few weeks are not too urgent…"Lu Ren Yi glanced at Zhang Xiao Qiang, who had his head dropped low while pondering, and did not dare speak.
"Wang Le…" Wang Le quickly stood up and glared at Zhang Huai An, "No way, no no way, I only have so many men and I'm responsible for maintaining the scout vehicles and machinery, I need to restore ammunition and manufacture the bio…."

Wang Le admired Director Ma in his heart but never showed it to him.
"The people in the repair shop will not be touched, the other people, regardless of male or female, will be commanded by Old Frank. He Wen Bin, gather and manage the people, Zhang Huai An, watch out for their emotions, some people will try to cause trouble at this juncture…"
Zhang Xiao Qiang's eyes turned cold, "Kill.. without…discussion."
Everyone nodded their heads. He Wen Bin looked at Zhang Xiao Qiang, "Why not recruit another 100 combat team members and form another battle team?"
Zhang Xiao Qiang shook his head, "Now, building the wall takes priority. If the wall is not built, even if all the men are equipped, it'll be pointless. I saw a new type of zombie in the small town but am unaware of its ability, but it seems that it is able to control over a thousand zombies and D2s. That is what I saw, so I'm not sure as to what else there is."
The news of the possible new zombie being able to control thousands of others scared everyone. What did it insinuate? It meant that zombies that used to be loose sand now had the ability to form together. If the zombie that could control others had some intellect, then the Human race would truly be in danger.
"Right now, we cannot rashly approach and kill the zombies. I suspect that the zombies already have the ability to communicate. Assuming that that's true, we might instead attract the zombies to our base. Three, send some people farther out tomorrow to test it out, see if they can lure the zombies away."
With that said, what else could the others say? Nothing.
Fat Chef raised his fat palms, to which Zhang Xiao Qiang nodded to.
"The…the coal in my kitchen is almost running out, without it, I can't cook, it'll be impossible to make fire…"
Zhang Xiao Qiang interrupted Fat Chef and looked towards Lu Ren Yi, who used to be a coal transport driver.
"This town doesn't have coal and we get the coal from X-town which is right beside us. There are many coal shafts there and a coal preparation plant. There should be a few kilotons of coal there."
Zhang Xiao Qiang nodded his head and turned to Three, "Send 20 men with Lu Ren Yi to obtain the coal tomorrow. Bring the excavator as well, I'll give you two days. Grab as much as you can, we don't know when will this be over."
At this point, everyone felt depressed, after stabilizing down through many difficulties, they had a new problem. A home that everyone had worked so hard to built was on the brink of collapse. Although they could run if all else failed, in the end, how many could actually run. The majority of them would still be left to feed the zombies.
"I think….that all of this isn't necessarily a bad thing." He Wen Bin suddenly spoke up, instantly attracting everyone's attention. His words sparked some hope in them.
"Look at it this way, although the zombies are coming out from the cities, we still have the power of deciding the battlefield. I'm thinking like, the possibility of sniping and fighting at suburban areas, and we can ambush them in midway, and fight them there."
At this point, He Wen Bin turned and looked at Zhang Xiao Qiang, "We can first have Three send some men to lure the zombies away. If the zombies do not take the bait, we can form layers and layers of snipers. The Zombies can walk 5km a day, then we'll disrupt them and prevent them from walking the 5km. As long as we can sustain until the wall is built, what do we have to fear?"
He Wen Bin's words caused everyone's eyes to light up, that's right. Zombies walked on two legs, but they had cars. Zhang Xiao Qian deployed men to sweep the petrol stations once more, bringing the amount of fuel they had to last for 10 years.
