Both the first day and second day after Yang Yi's release passed peacefully. He also met the guard and found out he could be moved to the felony section by just spending some money.
Yang Yi was in a good mood as a result. After everything that had happened, Yang Yi didn't dare shower. He couldn't risk getting ambushed by the Boxing King's men and the consequences becoming dire.
His only option at the moment was to be moved to the felony section as soon as possible. Thus Yang Yi was full of anticipation after meeting the guard. He would be transferred over today if everything went smoothly.
Once free activity period arrived, he met up with Buddy at the agreed spot.
The guard standing across the fence immediately started talking the moment Yang Yi arrived, "You can't be transferred over to the felony section. So, we'll just end it here."
Yang Yi with mixed emotions of both surprise and anxiety asked, "Why?"
The guard answered in annoyance, "I made the request. Usually it would get approved but it has been rejected this time. The Boxing King already made his move last week and he will be discharged soon."
Yang Yi was stunned. He planned to move to the felony section to avoid the Boxing King but the Boxing King had made a move earlier than him. The Boxing King had made sure Yang Yi couldn't flee.
The world would continue to change whether you wanted it to or not. He had wanted to flee yet the plan had been foiled by the Boxing King.
Just when the guard was about to leave, Yang Yi immediately exclaimed, "Wait! Please wait a moment!"
Yang Yi contemplated for a moment before asking, "For the same amount of money, can you get me a job?
The guard stopped and looked at Yang Yi, "You want a job?"
"Yes, can you have me assigned to a job?
The guard frowned before responding, "Job assignments are given to inmates who are well behaved but I should be able to get you a job as long as you're still in this section of the prison. You will have to wait for an opening though. All the easy jobs have been taken."
Yang Yi immediately answered, "Any job will do. Even garbage disposal is fine. There should be an opening, right since not many inmates want this job?"
The guard considered it for a while before saying, "I can ask but why do you want this job?"
Yang Yi laughed heartily and replied, "I will get to shower. It's a part of the jobs benefits. This is especially true for garbage disposal. Sir, I will have to avoid the Boxing King now. So, I won't dare go to bathroom anymore but I have just spent a week in solitary confinement. Moreover, it's been two days since I was released. I will be very grateful if you can get me the job."
Yang Yi's request and reasoning was not excessive. Although job assignments were for inmates who were well behaved, it shouldn't be an issue since Yang Yi was willing to pay.
"I will make the request for you. But this time you will have to pay regardless of the result. I can't keep helping you without getting paid."
Although the demand was rather excessive, Yang Yi could only smile, "Sure, not a problem."
Since the Boxing King had ensured Yang Yi couldn't flee, it was understood that Boxing King's revenge would definitely be executed soon. Thus, Yang Yi could only revise his plan.
Yang Yi was in prison to learn from Zhang Yong. He was not here to pick fights with the inmates here. However, his plan had been obstructed by the Boxing King. Yang Yi had no choice but to tolerate this obstruction for the time being.
Thus, Yang Yi would have to get rid of the Boxing King even if he had to risk his life doing so. The stumbling block must be removed.
After the guard left, Buddy scratched his head and said, "Bro, you're in big trouble now. The Boxing King won't let you off for sure."
Yang Yi expressionlessly asked, "Yeah, he won't let me go for sure. Is there any way you can help me?"
Buddy shook his head, "Sorry, I can't help you with this matter. Originally I thought I could help but it seems like it's out of even my hands now. The Boxing King won't allow you to flee. Most likely he will kill you. Of course, there's the slight possibility he just wants to teach you a lesson. If that's the case, you might just survive."
Yang Yi solemnly asked, "How powerful is the Boxing King?"
"He's very powerful. In prison, only the inmates who are part of a gang get to live comfortably. Boxing King didn't join any gang. Instead, he fought his way to the top and formed his own gang. He has never lost a fight before. There was one time where he was stabbed twice yet the Boxing King still emerged the victor."
Buddy patted Yang Yi's shoulder sympathetically and continued, "Sorry that I can't help you bro. You'll have to rely on yourself to overcome this challenge."
Yang Yi let out a long sigh, "Yeah, I can only rely on myself now. Buddy, can you help me find out when exactly the Boxing King will be discharged? How much I will have to pay you for the information?"
Buddy quickly replied, "Sure, let me find out for you. I will get it done now. I will update you tomorrow if I hear anything. See you tomorrow, bro."
Buddy was rather perfunctory when he replied and quickly left. It would seem like he no longer saw much value in associating with Yang Yi.
Yang Yi expected to get an answer to his job request tomorrow but he was notified on the same day in the evening.
A guard arrived in front of Yang Yi's cell and pronounced, "3387, you will be assigned to garbage disposal starting tomorrow along with Chris."
The guard immediately left after the notifying Yang Yi. Chris asked Yang Yi in astonishment, "You're going to dispose of the garbage with me? Why and how did you get this job?"
Yang Yi laughed, "Nothing much to it. I just want to do something to pass time. Moreover, I get to take a shower after the job is done."
Chris was puzzled, "How did you even get a job? You just got released from solitary confinement. Sorry, I shouldn't have asked."
Chris was curious but he stopped asking questions. He laid back down on his bed.
Yang Yi laughed, "I would like to ask a question. What are the things we need to do during garbage disposal? Can you explain the job scope?"
Chris casually said, "In our job, we need to dispose of the kitchen waste and all the leftover food in the canteen. Most of it will be dumped into the incinerator for burning. Anything that can't be burned will be buried in the landfill."
"How do we separate out the things which get sent to the incinerator instead of the landfill?"
Chris laughed, "According to the guidelines, anything made of plastic shouldn't be sent to the incinerator because the prison incinerator doesn't have an air purification device. Actually, who would care about air pollution? We have been burning everything for the last few years."
Yang Yi laughed as he nodded, "Yup, who cares. It's so much easier to just burn everything."
