Chapter 1
Chapter 1

Have you ever thought of wanting to be in a novel? A heroine with a beautiful appearance, rich wealth, and a good heart like an angel. In addition, if you were asked to choose between a novel with a perfect lover from head to toe and harsh reality, everyone would choose the former without worrying about the second.

“It’s still not that!” I wandered anxiously through the spacious room. A silk carpet that was so comfortably and soft that it wrapped around her bare feet, but I wasn’t excited at all. A quiet dawn that just shines. A gentle breeze blows through the slightly open windows. I couldn’t even make a loud noise because I was afraid of anyone listening, and I found a hand mirror placed on the table.

“No, it won’t. It shouldn’t!” Reaching out with shaking hands to pick up the mirror, the delicate white hand came into view. In addition, the finely trimmed nails that are well-groomed in almond shape. I swallow my saliva and try to look into the mirror.

White-toned skin, undulating sunset blonde hair, jewel-like glowing purple eyes, and small tear spots in the shape of a heart under the right eye! The mirror fell from my weak hand. I lie blankly on the bed. Was she really only fifteen? A beautiful girl who is childish but has a brilliant beauty that men will be captivated by. She wasn’t me, but I knew her very well.

Lydia Odette!

She is a character in the fantasy novel that I enjoyed reading. It was the only enjoyment of the small citizens who were tired of the hard life. But why aren’t I happy?

“I wonder if there is anything to be happy about!” She was not the main character. The overflowing money, the angelic heart, and the perfect fiancé all belonged to the heroine. Lydia Odette only has one of the numerous advantages of the heroines, her beautiful appearance.

She was one of the extras that barely appeared. Still, your face is pretty, but what’s wrong? Wouldn’t it be okay to eat well with that face and live well? Sounds like you don’t know! She was one of the concubines who died at the hands of the male protagonist, the emperor, because she bothered the heroine in the story. She also tormented her in the moment when the emperor fell in love with the heroine, and unfortunately, she was cut off and died on the spot.

Although there was not a lot of details about her because he was a supporting character, she knows about her because her name was mentioned along with the description of her appearance at the end of the novel when the two main characters marry. Heaven, are you punishing me for something I did? I just fell asleep while reading a novel. Oh, it looks like you smelled a little burnt while sleeping, but did you have a fire? Oh, all I have to do is wake up from this dream!

“This is a dream, a dream!” I closed my eyes and muttered.

God, this can’t really be happening, right? It’s obviously reading the novel so hard before you fall asleep can cause a very vivid dream! How many times have you murmured? Lying on the large fluffy bed and muttering about 100 times, my mind became hazy. Okay… that’s it. Now when I wake up from my dreams, I will open my eyes and I’ll be back in my small but cozy room. Thinking that way, I fell asleep.

Beep!

“Lydia?”

Um…  Noisy. Please, mom don’t play those dramas in the morning.

“Oh my god, it’s late!” I was going to sleep for one more minute in a warm blanket, but someone took off the blanket and raised me up and sat down.

“You should be ready to go to the imperial castle!”

What?! Imperial castle?!

I opened my eyes and an unfamiliar but familiar sight spread out in front of my hazy eyes. Unrealistic medieval furniture, a luxury bed with a canopy in the sky, a ferocious aunt, and a reflection of myself in the water basin that popped out!

“You slept late last night? Look at what I was still dreaming of!” She opened my mouth open with a hand. I quickly closed it when a white towel wiped my face with water. Now wait a minute, stop!

“Hey, you saw the wrong person! Bom!”

“Stay still! Why are you struggling with me today? To be on time for the carriage, we have to wash and change your clothes quickly!”  ‘How the hell is this happening? Why am I still in the novel?’ My eyes wide in shock.

While I was thinking, the aunt washed me and changed my clothes in the blink of an eye. The checkered dress, full of lace and frills, was terrifyingly tacky, but the girl’s beauty with long, lovely red blonde hair like sunset made me forget about the tacky clothes. If I wasn’t in this situation, I would admire it over and over. I shouted in a hurry.

“Come on, wait a minute. Something is wrong, here!”

“Don’t worry, it’s a dress made of the finest fabrics Madame Torso has. When you get to the capital you can buy a new one.”

‘I’m not talking about a dress!’ I am trying hard to explain this ridiculous situation, but this was also useless.

“Wait a minute! I have something to say!”

“Oh, I almost forgot. They said that all the ladies of the capital nobles are really skinny. You don’t look bad because you have a pretty face, but you still have to be careful. If you do anything wrong, you might be stamped out and expelled before you even see His Majesty.”

The aunt doesn’t listen to me and says that I must act quietly in the future, I must stand out in His Majesty’s eyes, blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah.

I am not Lydia Odette!

As soon as I got out, I was pushed into a luxury carriage in front of the gate.

“Mrs. Odette?”

“Hohoho! Yes, it’s me. You’ve been waiting a lot, right?”

“That’s not….”

“Oh, my dear! You’ll be late!”

I’m not Lydia!

I tried not to be dragged, but I flinched in front of a cold-eyed man looking at me with a monocle.

“If you wait any longer, we will be late.”

“Oh-ho-ho, I know.”

My aunt looked frowned and put me in the wagon. Then she pretended to stamp tears with a handkerchief and whispered quickly before closing the wagon door. “Should you stand out? The future of our family is all up to you.”

“Wait!”

The hem of the ugly, bloated dress prevented me from moving! I fell over the carriage seat and screamed in surprise, but I barely regained my balance and turned around, before the door was already closed and the carriage started moving.

“Oh my God!”

I came into this novel overnight. Into the body of extra, who dies miserably! Plus, I don’t know anything about this girl except the name! I watched the outside scenery passing by with dumbfounded eyes, then I realized the situation late and jumped in my seat.

But the situation had already happened. The speed of the carriage in a fantasy novel was quite fast, so the old wheat field swept past the window.

The Capital! The Imperial Castle! The Emperor!

Am I going to die? I am scared, I grabbed the door handle and shook it to try and escape from here, but the door didn’t budge which means it couldn’t be opened from inside. Eventually, I stopped trying, I cried out in vain.

“What should I do? What is going to happen with me!” I became nervous and my teeth clattered. If I go to Imperial Palace, I will die!

About two hours passed while I was agonizing over the ugly checkered dress. Soon the wheat field was over, and a huge wall came into my eyes.

Oh wow!

“No, you can’t get killed here!” I’m not interested in the emperor! I don’t even know who the heroine is!  I’m unfairly here because I died! I have to run away. Yes, it would be better!

I grasped the hem of my loose dress and tried to escape through the window of the carriage instead of the locked door.  But then, the contents of the novel suddenly passed through my mind. ‘The emperor made a peace treaty to end the war and enlisted the daughters of each local lord as concubines….’

There is also a story that all the nobles who rebelled by ignoring the young emperor who had just risen to the throne had their throats cut. Can I run away? What if a war breaks out after running away? My strength was running out.  I needed to decide: Do you torment the heroine and die at the hands of the emperor, or run away and start war on the continent in exchange for breaking the peace treaty? Which option is the right answer?  What is it so extreme?

I tried to throw my body out while holding the window frame of the carriage tightly and worried about running. If I don’t go to the imperial castle quietly and become the emperor’s concubine, the blood-mad emperor will start a war. So, what would happen to me with nowhere to go in this world? It turns out that it’s Lydia Odette, so I would be glad if my throat doesn’t get cut first! I hesitantly sat back down in my seat to organize my thoughts.

The answer was surprisingly simple. I shouldn’t interfere with the emperor and the heroine’s love.  Instead of joining the concubines who are jealous and harassing her, I should just quietly stick to the corner of the Imperial Palace and live quietly

Let’s live quietly because I do not want to catch the eyes of the emperor. Yes, think positively. Lydia Odette will become the emperor’s concubine, so everything she wears, and eats will be treated nicely. Living quietly in the imperial castle wouldn’t be difficult.

Later, the heroine will become the empress, so I will treat her nicely and live comfortably! Then I won’t ever die because the emperor won’t hate me! But.

“Lydia Odette of Viscount Young, I appoint you as the thirty-third concubine of His Majesty.”

‘Excuse me?’

“The residence is at the west end of the Imperial Palace, Lily Castle. Go right away. Next!”

To appoint a concubine like this! I was stunned and wanted to say something, but the door was closed in front of my eyes. The carriages are lined up in a row as if there are stamping an invoice on a delivery box passed through the front, back, and sideways of my carriage.

Yes, the great god of war, His Majesty, enlisted more than thirty concubines and according to the story, the identity was given, and Lydia Odette, was the last among them.

She couldn’t even see the emperor’s face, and one of his servants, who was overwhelmed with exhaustion, only read the scroll with the emperor’s seal. No matter how much a wife who has the only name signed by the peace treaty, this is a little bit bad! To make matters worse, the Lily Castle that I stayed in was not Rapunzel’s tower, but a small castle located at the corner of the Imperial Palace.

Sigh.

How did it look good?  Even without meeting the emperor who is called the bloody god of war, cold-blooded with no blood or tears because it works. In addition, it is said that clothes and food are provided in accordance with the name of concubine. I decided to think as positively as possible and clenched my fists. Okay, maybe it’s good! If you live in a corner like this, you won’t have a chance to be jealous of the heroine, and you won’t be noticed by the emperor.

Okay, let’s live quietly. I will live quietly without being noticed by anyone, as if it didn’t exist. If I live like that I can escape from that fate? I could survive without dying!  I made up my mind again.

No matter what, it won’t be like the fate of the original. So, I’ll live quietly without anyone knowing me! In my life, where I came to live as a supporting actor, I had one goal.

Live long and simple!
