T/N : Lip service – to say the right things.

An Chuxia's wearing a short-sleeved suit with a matching pair of white shorts. However, streaks of gray mar the outfit. It doesn’t help that there are visible scratches on her skin that’s not been treated. Although the wounds aren’t serious, Lao Ling is offended.

All the men in the Ling household have to go through strict military training at a very early age. However, all the women are treated favorably. Seeing Chuxia bruised, Lao Ling opens his eyes widely before shaking a pointed finger at her. "What happened? Who did you fight?!"

An Chuxia's initial response to Lao Ling’s inquiry is to laugh. But she doesn’t. Finally, she shakes her head and smiles. "It's nothing, I just fell."

Lao Ling, whose nickname is "Old Fox", looks at Ling Hanyu sharply. He knows that the situation is rather complex. Since An Chuxia doesn’t want to talk about the incident, the old man cannot ask more about it. But when he learns that Hanyu has called the physician to tend to her, his concern is relieved.

Regardless of what happened, his intentions aren’t bad. Despite wanting to have this girl as his true granddaughter, nothing can stop him from treating her like his own.

The physician arrives in Kuni’s car. When he walks into the room, he can tell that people are still around even if he doesn’t see them. Since becoming the family’s physician, he’s always escorted. It is something he had to get used to at first. Now, it’s normal.

After assessing all of An Chuxia's wounds, the doctor says everything is superficial, except for the one on her head. Although it's not bleeding, the scalp needs to be relieved. He puts his cold hand on hers, and realizes it’s clammy.

"Excuse me, are you feeling dizzy?" He examines her more seriously.

She nods. "I feel nauseated. Is that serious?"

The physician doesn’t respond to her question. Instead, he turns and looks at Lao Ling. "Old master, the patient needs to go to the hospital for a head scan. At first, I thought she only got a mild concussion. "

"Concussion?" What a diagnosis! Master Ling immediately sends An Chuxia to the hospital. He won’t settle for less. He wants to make sure that An Chuxia will be okay.

"Wait, grandfather!" Ling Hanyu calls out. "Steward Han said that if we take her to the hospital [without prior arrangements], it will catch media's attention, and the consequences can be grave."

"What can be more grave than her concussion? I dare the media to report this! If they do, I will let their companies suffer!" Lao Ling says seriously. With these words, Ling Hanyu feels relieved.

However, An Chuxia doesn’t want to go to the hospital. She sighs while she says, "There shouldn’t be any complications. Isn’t it just a slight concussion? As long as I don’t make sudden movements… ."

This time, the physician speaks up. "Miss, a concussion needs to be constantly monitored. Otherwise, it can cause an intracranial hematoma. It shouldn’t be taken lightly."

Rich families often cause commotion even if it's as trivial as a mild concussion! She says this in her head, but she doesn’t dare take the warning lightly. After all, he is the Lings' private physician, and his knowledge is expansive. An Chuxia resigns herself to their decision.

The Lings are very efficient. Shortly after the decision, she is at the hospital getting a brain scan. Neither Ling can enter the room, so they sit outside in the waiting room. Once steward Han is given an update, he returns to the Hans to inform Jiang Yuan about the situation.

After all, things are unraveling at this point.

Looking at the status board over the door, Ling Hanyu takes his phone out and calls Han Qilu. Qilu picks up the phone quickly and says, "I saw you at the airport earlier. Why did you come to pick us up?"

Ling Hanyu takes a deep breath. "Where are you?"

"I’m at Mankuai’s, helping her with her luggage." Qilu nonchalantly states, like An Chuxia doesn’t exist.

Finally, reality sinks in for Ling Hanyu. Han Qilu has truly lost his memories these past few months. An Chuxia was at the brink of death when she went searching for Han Qilu. She didn’t forget to save him, and yet, he has forgotten her.

He heard, that in spite of it all, she took care of him when they were in the United States. This tragedy reminds him of the story, The Little Mermaid.

The mermaid princess saves the prince, and sacrifices everything to be with him. However, the prince mistakes another woman as his savior. Is this what they’re fated to be?

This can’t be! Ling Hanyu doesn’t believe in fate. To him, love is more than being with that person; it’s also making the other person happy. Love shouldn’t be selfish!

"I’m giving you an hour to get to the hospital. Don’t bring Mankuai with you." Ling Hanyu hangs up. This is the first time he’s ever done this to Han Qilu.

Han Qilu realizes something serious has just happened. His expression turns cold.

"Who was that on the phone?" Mankuai asks as she carries a vase filled with flowers to the balcony. Han Qilu takes the vase from her quickly.

"No one." He smiles as he sets the vase down. He doesn’t want to explain anything to her.

Lao Ling sees Ling Hanyu hang up the phone. He can only assume he was on the phone with Han Qilu. The old man closes his eyes. “Is that kid, Han Qilu, coming? How can you lose to him? Of all people, you lose to Han Qilu."

The old man pauses before asking, "By the way, are you going to tell me how An Chuxia fell?"

Ling Hanyu can’t help but confess the truth [from the very beginning]. At first, he thought his grandfather would be sympathetic towards Han Qilu's memory loss. Instead, he was rejoicing the fact that Qilu doesn’t remember Chuxia. That's when Hanyu quickly states, "Don’t think too much about it. Han Qilu will eventually recover his memories sooner than later!"

"I’m your grandfather. I can say anything." Lao Ling lifts his chin. The action embarrasses Hanyu.

Ling Hanyu knows it will take Han Qilu an hour to get to the hospital. Thus, he has enough time to get to the airport and back.

"Old man, wait here until An Chuxia is done. I’m heading to the airport." Lao Ling watches his grandson turn and run. He knows he won’t leave An Chuxia for no reason, so he doesn’t stop him.

As Lao Ling sits on the blue hospital chair, he sighs. "Kuni, when is this son of a b***h, Hanyu, getting married?"

Kuni doesn’t answer him. He reminds the master at this precise moment, "If young Hanyu is a son of a b***h, then… ."

Lao Ling doesn’t respond… until he realizes Kuni’s implication. "Naughty boy!"

Kuni coughs, lightening the mood.

Once Ling Hanyu gets to the airport, he searches for the head of airport security, which is staffed by the Lings. The department head smiles as he sees Hanyu. "Xiao Hanyu, how may I help you?"

"Take me to the monitoring room and bring me the video taken in the hall between 7 and 7:30 this morning," Ling Hanyu says with a hardened look.

The security head uncomfortably says after listening to his request, "Without justification, I can’t just retrieve the video footage."

But his voice gets softer and softer. He looks back at Ling Hanyu's eyes before changing his mind. "But, you… you don’t have to justify it. Please come with me."

Ling Hanyu snorts as he follows him to the monitoring room. Since he knows approximately when the incident happened, the video is recovered quickly and downloaded to his phone. With twenty minutes left, he rushes back to the hospital.

As soon as he drives his roadster to the hospital entrance, he sees Han Qilu standing by the door, phone in his hand. Almost at the exact moment, his own mobile phone rings.

Hanyu hangs up on him. He parks the car and walks up to the entrance.

As soon as Qilu sees him approaching, he asks Hanyu, "Why did you ask me to come to the hospital?"

Ling Hanyu reaches out and hooks his arm around Qilu’s neck, giving him a hug. "You didn’t call me even once when you went to the States. How are you paying me back?"

"Payback?" Qilu’s eyes turn to him. "Do you want this young master to donate blood? Tell me! I’ll set things straight!"

"Fine, you’ve paid enough lip service. Come, let me show you a video." Ling Hanyu doesn’t mention An Chuxia. He just takes out his mobile and shows Qilu the video from the monitoring room.

The episode lasts about five minutes, but it makes Han Qilu turn pale.

"I misunderstood her… ." Han Qilu looks at Ling Hanyu before squinting. "Do you fancy my sister?"

"Sister? You’re her man!" Ling Hanyu says. "Before you lost your memories, you were in love with Chuxia. You loved her very much!"

His expression freezes. "What are you talking about… did she tell you to tell me this?"

"Why should she?" Hanyu shakes his head. "The whole world knows you’re in love with An Chuxia. The whole world knows that she almost lost her life while saving you, and yet… ."

"Qilu!" they hear a female’s voice.
